New CEO Hannah Giles has laid off most of the employees of Project Veritas in a cost-cutting measure while the company refocuses its efforts going forward. In the near term, PV will operate on a skeleton staff, Giles told CDM. Sources tell CDM donations collapsed after O'Keefe left PV, and today's decision was not vindictive at all, but simply a way to save the organization from collapse. The business model was not sustainable.

SLAIN COUPLE'S WEIRD WILL By ALEX GINSBERG August 26, 2008 -- They were bitter to the end - and beyond. A Brooklyn couple slain in their home last month spoke from the grave in drafted last wills, leaving a bizarre legacy for unloved ones they detested in life. "To my brother who I know hopes to be in my will, well, here you are," chided Mark Schwartz, 50, as he bequeathed nothing to his estranged sibling, Robert, in an unsigned April 2006 draft. This is not new to most, but I just found out yesterday. I am a United States Marine serving in Fallujah, Iraq. Marines that are currently serving overseas in Iraq are not aware of Michael Crook and the comments that he said about us. It is not my intention to bring this situation to a higher level. But for an American citizen to laugh about another dying, especially while they are dying for there country, is outrageous. Michael Crook deserved to die and no-one in the military should care less. I turned down college, and a promising future with my...

Resident Commissioner Anibal Acevedo Vila asked the Navy Monday to look into whether downsizing operations at Naval Station Roosevelt Roads "goes beyond what is necessary and legitimate." In a letter to Acting Navy Secretary Hansford Johnson, the resident commissioner said he was "deeply concerned about conflicting information regarding the intentions of the Navy over future operations" at the Ceiba base. Employees at the base, and others, have charged that the downsizing ordered by the Atlantic Fleet chief Adm. Robert Natter is of a broader scope than just shutting down operations related to the training facility at Vieques. The Navy intends...
