This is not new to most, but I just found out yesterday. I am a United States Marine serving in Fallujah, Iraq. Marines that are currently serving overseas in Iraq are not aware of Michael Crook and the comments that he said about us. It is not my intention to bring this situation to a higher level. But for an American citizen to laugh about another dying, especially while they are dying for there country, is outrageous. Michael Crook deserved to die and no-one in the military should care less. I turned down college, and a promising future with my first love to serve in the military to go to war. Those Marines that "BITE THE BIG ONE" were my brothers. I wish i had bite the big one right along with them so that i don't have to hear Americans making jokes about there deaths. Marines are the closest military men in the US, out of all services, for the training that we go through, so when one of us dies; it hurts deep inside you. We, as a country, have helped Iraq so much and the people of the country agree. Michael Crook never came to Iraq, so he has no idea how the people of Iraq feel, or the military men that serve over here.Who honestly cares if you have to pay a little extra in taxes so we can earn some money. We are under paid for what we do and no one complains! So what are pay checks are tax free while we are in a COMBAT ZONE (that means you get shot at and have to worry about bombs). I hope that people soon realize that there comments hurt the ones over here, and just because we are in Iraq doesnt mean that we are isolated from the world. It is demoralizing to us, because one persons comments like Michael Crooks, makes us not want to be here. He thinks that we love coming over here every 7 months, and love being away from our families. Well, he now is fortunate enough to be away from his family. I know that most were really upset by his comments on Hannity and Colmbs, but for the Americans in Iraq who aren't fortunate to watch it right away; we have to be hurt and upset that there are people that could care less about us. They don't have to agree with the War on Iraq, but at least support the people in it.
Now I am going to end this with a comment that one of my leaders said to me; "I serve and volunteer for this war for certain reasons: I am not going to stand by and watch my brothers and Americans die, while I am safe. I will die before a terrorist comes to MY COUNTRY and tells my wife how to dress, tell my kids how to talk, and tell them what religion to preach. I will not allow that to happen, so that is worth dying for." So next time you critisize a person in the military, remember where you are; safe at home in OUR country. Then remember what we are going through out here, but you will never know!

I saw that twerp on Hannity's show, he looks like he needs vitamins, for a young person, he looks like he has one foot in the grave. The guy was so hung up on the money issue. I would love to see the parents.

If you're for real, I admire you for your service. I wish I were there in Iraq by your side but I'm not, so all I can do is say you and the Marine Corps have my utmost gratitude.

I believe Michael Crooks' death has been exaggerated. As I recall, it turns out that among the other idiotic things he has said and done ... he faked his death.
Already am keeping in touch! Still stateside, but leaving soon. Sarge's Daily Report gets posted every day - at least, every day I have Web access, that is. We're on Day 183, now.
Let us deal with the silly twits like Crook, son. Just keep focused on the mission and stay safe. Trust me, there's a whole lot more of us who have your back than the few turds like Crook who are desperate to try anything to make our President and our military look bad. We know that we can never repay your sacrifices but you have our undying grattitude. Now, go kick some terrorist a$$!
Here's a FR thread about it. If you follow this, I believe they determined Crook was not killed.

I saw him on Hannity...he is pond scum. When you see or hear some jerk like that I want you to consider the source and remember, even dumb dumbs like him are free because you are keeping his freedom safe.
Luckily for all of us here at home, we have people like you who are willing to serve and keep us safe and free. Have no doubts, you are appreciated, prayed for and loved.

It's unclear whether Michael Crook's only goal in life is to provoke anger and disgust. In a letter to this newspaper last year, he suggested that older people should be barred from driving on public roads. That notion prompted a slew of letters defending the rights of senior citizens.
This guy is a certifiable nut case looking for attention. Best ignored.
