The table gives a side by side comparison of the Republican and Democrat brands. To win elections, the Republicans have to proselytize the American public, and lead by example. Since most Americans, regardless of gender ethnicity, or immigrant status, favor those items embraced and supported by Republicans, the Republicans will win elections as long as the public is not duped by the Democrats. The biggest priority of the Republicans is to call out Democrat lies, with gusto and assertion, and without fail. Ronald Reagan’s genius was in pointing to the Democrats, and their ilk around the world, as liars. He...

Anti-freedom radicals George Bush, Barack Obama, and their intellectual allies have really done a number on us recently. For the past seven months or so, the irrational, illiberal, Dark Age dolts and dirtbags which run the United States have been energetically trying to "rescue" and "stimulate" the economy via socialism, fascism, and other types of tyrannical Big Government "help." But this is almost exactly how Leviathan undermined, sabotaged, and devastated the prosperity and wealth of America in the first place. Having Uncle Sam double down on politico-economic ignorance and evil -- by radically increasing the level of poison and destruction...

A common starting point for examining conservatism is Edmund Burke(b 1729- d.1797), English statesman, and notable thinker, born in Ireland. As a young man, Burke traveled extensively in France. Burke’s philosophy and world view would fill many pages. The most important thing to know is that he was a staunch opponent of the French Revolution, while strongly supporting the American Revolution. Burke’s antipathy can best be understood by learning what took place in France in the time span from 1789 to about 1845. The events that took place in the early years of this time span are commonly referred to...

[....] On the other hand, should an unwarrantable measure of the federal government be unpopular in particular States, which would seldom fail to be the case, or even a warrantable measure be so, which may sometimes be the case, the means of opposition to it are powerful and at hand. The disquietude of the people; their repugnance and, perhaps, refusal to co-operate with the officers of the Union; the frowns of the executive magistracy of the State; the embarrassments created by legislative devices, which would often be added on such occasions, would oppose, in any State, difficulties not to be...

President Obama on Friday announced he would be drawing down the troop level in Iraq. This was what we had all been waiting for, right? After all, it was dissatisfaction with Bush’s war that kick-started the Democratic resurgence in 2006 and helped the Democrats win overwhelming victories in 2008. But aside from a little chattering here and there, most people’s response seemed to be, “Oh yeah, that war,” before changing the channel to see what’s on “The Tyra Banks Show.” True, Obama still plans to leave 50,000 troops in the country indefinitely. That’s roughly equivalent to the entire population of...

In ‘The Vision of the Anointed’(p.254), Thomas Sowell powerfully observes that the msnufacture of the lowly pencil is vastly beyond the capability of a single person. There are those who select, harvest and prepare the wood; those who find, extract, and prepare the graphite; those who shape and assemble the parts; those who package, transport, sell, etc. Each works within a limited “circle of knowledge.” The sum of these circles cannot possibly be invested in a single individual; further, the participants must must all work, autonomously, and voluntarily as a team. They probably work within a web of trusting relationships...

Like oil and wateer, politics and economics don't mix. People engaged in economic pursuits hate politics. Politicians think those who practice economic pursuits are somewhere above slugs on the evolutionary ladder. To understand more clearly this concept, we have to examine politics and economics side by side. This will require skipping to a different web page. Just click the link. politics vs economics

February, 2009 PRESS RELEASE (For immediate and continual distribution) For some time since January 20th, discussions have been held among members of the Conservative Policy Roundtable (a private citizen’s think tank) dealing with an issue dear to the hearts of many ordinary, everyday Conservative American Citizens; “What can we do about the direction in which this Nation is being taken?” When an announcer on, of all channels, CNBC launched into a tirade on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade about the need for another “Boston Tea Party”, we had our answer. We will strive to bring forth from...

Unions are naturally and inherently tyrannical, collectivist, criminal, corrupt, parasitic organizations. They're based on the theory and marxist-leninist "ideal" of what could be called predatory authoritarian communism for otherwise free-agent labor and naturally liberated workers. No proper, self-respecting, freedom-loving employee should ever belong to a union at his job. No proper, self-respecting, freedom-loving employer should ever allow a union at his company. Unions destroy efficiency, competitiveness, prosperity, success -- and labor-management harmony. They create a kind of company civil war. Ultimately, unions kill business. Even employees who think of joining a union, or who sympathize with the concept of unionism,...

A specter is haunting America — the specter of capitalism. From the boardrooms of failed bankers turned shameless mendicants, to the empty banter of the pundit class, even to that den of mediocrity called Capitol Hill, a voice long silenced is making itself heard, and not a moment too soon. But we always hear that capitalism has been tried and failed, that this recession demonstrates the irresponsibility of the laissez-faire Bush administration, and that what we need now is more, responsible government intervention. Where to begin? Well, a recent study by Walter Williams of George Mason University shows that between...

Much has been made by the new administration of the idea of national service and volunteerism. While service to one’s community is certainly admirable, it is not the federal government’s place to “encourage” or promote volunteerism. Moreover, there are troubling signs that national service could transition from voluntary to mandatory, or de facto mandatory, such as the requirement of service in order to be granted a diploma, or something along those lines. Involuntary servitude was supposed to be abolished by the 13th Amendment, but things like Selective Service and the income tax make me wonder how serious we really are...

Republican Representative for Texas Ron Paul spoke to Rice students last week to share his personal opinion on the state of the economy and discuss how to restore the United States back to a responsible fiscal system. "The system we have today has failed," he said. Paul, a two-time presidential candidate, decided to become involved in politics after President Richard Nixon took the United States off the gold standard in 1971. Since then, United States currency has operated on the fiat system, where the value of the money is based solely on faith in government to back the value of...

The doctrine of nullification is being resurrected: "Such plans by the bureaucrats and administrators in Washington, D.C., are 'altogether void' and if mandated, 'shall constitute a nullification of the Constitution for the United States.'" And this time it's Yankees making the case...

President Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. — facing just 38 percent approval ratings in the poll for his stimulus spending package, according to this week’s Gallup poll — is taking further, dramatic action to destroy the U.S. economy. He is proposing a salary cap for executives who run companies in the U.S. which receive federal monies. Obama described executives as “living a life high on the hog.” Interesting metaphor, as communist activists derided capitalists in the past as “pigs.” See, http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2009/02/03/2009-02-03_obama_puts_salary_cap_on_bailout_busines.html Obama is acting as if this proposed “cap” on executive salaries will be limited only to Citicorp, AIG and the...

I have recently had several opportunities on various news programs to discuss the economy and what is wrong with the so-called economic stimulus package. I have said over and over what we shouldn’t be doing, and now I’d like to explain what we should be doing. But to improve the situation, you must first have a solid grasp of how we got here. Government policies and central planning created the housing bubble, now going bust. About a decade ago the government made expanded homeownership and affordable housing a public goal. Through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the secondary mortgage market...

How we lost our liberty in 1966.Politics and economics are put under a microscope. The human thought process (epistemology) is examined, relying on simple definitions of truth and knowledge. Education and sociology are discussed. The two major collectivist movements of recent history, Nazism and communism, are shown to have the same source: Georges Sorell. The book is dedicated to the founders and promulgators of the Judeo-Christian traditions. Liberty can be revived by a devotion to truth and morals as defined by the Ten Commandments. Truth is sustained not only by avoiding lies, but by challenging lies when they are spoken.

Like many pragmatic economists I have always warned that rapid expansions of government debt would result in inflation and higher interest rates. The explanation was always simple: rising supply of government debt inflates the money supply and weakens the government’s ability to service its debt through legitimate means.

U.S. Representative and former presidential candidate Ron Paul tells Newsmax that bailouts of U.S. corporations are “bad morally” — and says current federal economic policies “will literally destroy the dollar.” He also insists that the use of “counterfeit” paper money instead of a gold-backed currency is “insane,” and declares it is “foolhardy” for Barack Obama to propose national health care under the present economic conditions. The Texas legislator ran for president as the Libertarian candidate in 1988, and sought the Republican presidential nomination beginning in March 2007. He withdrew this past June and did not endorse GOP candidate John McCain.

The main organic and structural solution to the current mortgage and credit crisis -- and subsequent Wall Street panic and government bailout -- is to immediately terminate all those "government sponsored enterprises." This certainly seems to be the root of the problem. These state-backed banks have an unfair advantage over legitimate banks, and thus tend to destroy them -- while conducting business badly. Such GSEs, with their unnaturally low interest rates, significantly distort the mortgage and credit markets, and ultimately hurt pretty much everything they touch. They fundamentally attack economic freedom and capitalism, and have no right to exist. The...
