Anyone know how to get rid of these 2 parasites? I've tried Spybot and Ad-Aware, and HiJack This. Nothing works; every time I reboot they're back. I'm sure lots of you out there have this problem. Is removing them beyond a layperson's capability. Also, why has Congress not acted in outlawing thiscrap and tracking down these scumbags? It seem to me they are no different than burglars who invade your home and re-arrange the furniture. At a macro level, how the hell is this stuff even profitable? I've never heard of anyone who clicks on pop-up ads, most people don't...

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The nation's second-largest school district spent nearly $50 million on a computer reading program that failed to improve student literacy skills and sometimes hindered achievement because it wasn't used properly, a newspaper reported Monday. The Los Angeles Unified School District hoped the Waterford Early Reading Program would boost test scores at low-performing elementary schools when it purchased the system four years ago to supplement language arts instruction in kindergarten and first-grade classrooms. Instead, the system had no affect on most students and a "negative impact" on some kindergartners whose teachers substituted it for primary reading lessons,...

I remember not too long ago a virus did this and was hoping someone in here could tell me what virus did that....and how I can fix it? It won't let you get online either..... No...he did not have a firewall and let Norton expire......I yelled at him already.... :)

Just had one of the local SWAT teams over for some lunch and to play pool at my house here.. Had a long talk with them and inspected their equipment and see that they are woefully inadequate to do their job. Get this... They fire maybe 20 rounds every 6months with their 9mm Barettas and even less than that with their M16's. They have no kevlar vests or helmets, no accessory flashlights or lasers for their weapons. These guys are brave as hell, though. Just saw on the news where they captured 3 NPA (Commie Guerillas) Commanders two days ago...

Hello... My precious girl and I are miles away. I'm getting it together to make it through now and if everything goes well I'll soon will be starting on a BIG journey, maybe even the biggest in my life. I know whatever God does is good and right and that I have to wait but..where in the world does one get the power for it? If anyone can just mention us in their prayers I would be very grateful. Gob bless you all In Jesus we are.

Baird wants to make sales tax deduction permanent Thursday, January 27, 2005 The Columbian Congressman Brian Baird, D-Vancouver, will introduce legislation that would extend a two-year tax cut expected to save Washington residents $500 million this year. Baird announced Wednesday that he and Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, will sponsor legislation so taxpayers in seven states can permanently deduct state and local sales taxes when filing their federal tax returns. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., will introduce companion legislation in the Senate. Washington lost the deduction when Congress rewrote the tax code in 1986, but taxpayers in Oregon and other states have...

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Wednesday asked the White House to declare disaster areas in eight Southern California counties ravaged earlier this month by a spate of deadly storms. If the request is approved, the move should help municipalities fund repairs to roads, bridges and other structures damaged by flooding and mudslides triggered by days of heavy rain in the counties of Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura. Twenty-eight deaths were linked to the effects of the storms that began Jan. 7. "I have determined that this incident is of...

Ok. I am in a major catastrophe right now. My Microsift explorer was riddled with viruses and other bad things. I tried to repair it. I fiddled with it for hours until all I could see was red. I stopped using explorer and started using netscape. It still caused me problems even though I wasn't even using it anymore. Apperently, it is embeded into the windows program. Yeah, bill Gates. I removed explorer from my machine using add/remove programs. It still was giving me problems. I went and removed explorer compnents by hand. Now, everything is messed up. I am...

There have been huge disastrous floods in Guyana and the nation is openly appealing for help from the American military. This may seem like an old story, but it's not. I hope we help Guyana. There are good reasons, and it's in everyone's interest. The tsunami relief effort got word to the world that when you are in deep trouble, America is the one, the only one, you can reliably turn to. Swift efficient help to impossible areas, soldiers who are friendly and compassionate, soldiers who won't shake you down, soldiers who will treat you with dignity and help you...

Sun-starved Alpine villagers 'see the light' with the help of solar mirrors By Clare Chapman in Innsbruck (Filed: 16/01/2005) Residents of an Austrian mountain village deprived of sunshine for four months of the year have found a way to beat the winter gloom. Mirrors will be installed in a sunnier spot across the valley, to reflect sunlight back to Rattenberg and eliminate the shadows that make its inhabitants feel so depressed. Franz Wurzenrainer, the mayor, said: "When weather forecasters predict a bright winter's day with plenty of sunshine, we have to take their word for it. From November to February,...

How can I tell for sure if I am hacked? My computer I mean. I run several anti-spyware programs on a regular basis...such as Adware SE, Spybot, the new Microsoft spyware program, and I have Spyware Blaster on my machine. I also run Outpost firewall on block most mode. I clean my computer's junk files regularly, and check for spyware often and up until now no real problems. However, I am noticing that the icons on my desktop are moving around at random. I move them back, then they get shuffled again. If its not a hacker, then why? I...

FRiends, I am desperate. Me, middle-aged stay-at-home mom, has gone back to college after 25 years. I need to download Macromedia Flash in order to view what appears to be a majority of my work online. I've tried everything and nothing is working. I've got Windows XP. Can anyone help me? I'm risking this vanity because if this doesn't work, I think I will drop out because if I can't understand this computer crap - how will I ever become a nurse? Flame me if you've got nothing better to do - but honestly, no one can upset me more...

I need help from anyone local to Carson City, Gardnerville, Minden, or as far away as Reno if no one closer can help. I am snowed out, I cannot reach home due to 3'-5' of semi compacted heavy wet snow. Nothing I have with four wheels can get through. Tried a Jeep with chains and posi rear, tried a "Coot" 4x4. Perhaps someone has a tricked out 4x4 that can make it, but nothing near stock will. I have to either borrow, rent, trade something, or SOMEHOW gain use of a snowmobile for a couple of hours Monday! If not...

Then it'll type in black What did I do and how can I set it go back and default it to type in black automatically? Thanks
