Barack and Michelle Obama, speaking to People Magazine, of all disappointments, shared the disheartening news that they have experienced what they called racism. Barack, for example, apparently has had trouble, before he was president, hailing a cab in Chicago, to which an immediate thought might occur to anyone who has been to Chicago: Who hasn't? Also, Barack, at a black-tie event, when he, too, was in festive livery, apparently was asked by another guest if he would get them a cup of coffee. For her recollection, Michelle came up with a visit to a Target store as first lady. She...

WINDERMERE, Fla. (CBS Tampa/AP) — Tiger Woods tied for last place in his return to golf after four months and found at least one reason for optimism. At least he has his health. Except for flu-like symptoms on Saturday when he ended up vomiting on the golf course, Woods made it through 72 holes of the Hero World Challenge by swinging as hard as he wanted without feeling any pain. In his eyes, that far outweighed the shocking sight of so many duffed chips...

Fore!Every once in a while the truth slips out…The AP reported that Obama went to see the doctor today because the rain kept him off the golf course “where he spends most Saturdays.” Acid reflux is caused when the contents of the stomach flow back up the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms. Treatments include avoiding certain foods and using over-the-counter or prescription medications, including antacids.White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Jackson suggested that Obama have the diagnostic test done on Saturday afternoon because the president had free time in his schedule. Rain kept Obama off...

the crocodile attacked van der Sandt while he was standing at waist height in the water and reaching below the surface to feel for golf balls on the bottom of the dam at about 10 p.m.. ... About 280 people have been attacked worldwide by crocodiles this year

In his "Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior," George Washington offered this sage advice: "Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company." Too bad President Obama and his best Chicago golfing buddy (BCGB), Dr. Eric Whitaker, didn't heed our Founding Father's wisdom. The duo's continued intimacy, as the stench of government corruption thickens around them, speaks volumes about our current commander in chief's reckless disregard for his reputation. How close is Obama to the beleaguered doc? They met playing basketball while grad students at Harvard...

President Obama today is playing golf at the Shadow Creek golf club in North Las Vegas, reputed to be the nicest golf course in Vegas. It’s 55 degrees and mostly sunny. At 44 degrees, it’s a little too cold today in the Washington area for a comfortable round. This is the 47th time he’s played this year and the 204th outing of his presidency.

Obama’s frequent vacations and increase in golfing excursions have become bizarre, considering so many continue to struggle economically almost six years into his presidency, and the world is being rocked by an epidemic of Islamic jihadist torture and horrendous murders, moving increasingly closer to our shores. Few Americans can afford to take vacations - if they actually have a job that is full time and gives them the ability to take a vacation - yet Obama continues to take exotic trips around the world with his wife and kids. Both Republican Presidents Bush never engaged in lavish family trips to...

You may not think of it as the most exciting car in the world, but the newly redesigned Volkswagen Golf compact car has been named Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year. The award is for all four available versions of the Golf. That includes the sporty Golf GTI, the diesel-powered Golf TDI, the electric-powered e-Golf and the basic Golf 1.8T. This seventh-generation version of the compact car is lighter and more fuel-efficient but still larger than previous Volkswagen (VLKAF) Golfs.

Michael Jordan was interviewed by Ahmad Rashad recently. Rashad asked Jordan who his dream foursome would include, and Jordan said President Barack Obama isn't getting an invite. "I've never played with Obama but I would," said Jordan. "But no, that's okay, I'd take him out. He's a hack, it would be all day playing with him."

Michael Jordan was interviewed by Ahmad Rashad recently about who his dream foursome would entail (if he was included in the four) and President Obama isn't getting an invite. "I've never played with Obama but I would," said Jordan. "But no, that's okay, I'd take him out. He's a hack, it would be all day playing with him. "Don't worry about it," said Jordan. "I never said he wasn't a great politician, I'm just saying he's a sh---- golfer."

Abstract: Using CEO golf play as a measure of leisure, we document that there is significant variation in the amount of leisure that CEOs consume. We find that they consume more leisure when they have lower equity-based incentives. CEOs that golf frequently (i.e., those in the top quartile of golf play, who play at least 22 rounds per year) are associated with firms that have lower operating performance and firm values. Numerous tests accounting for the possible endogenous nature of these relations support a conclusion that CEO shirking causes lower firm performance. We find that boards are more likely to...

I have yet to find the words to describe the overwhelming sense of satisfaction I felt on Nov. 4, 2008 when Obama won the popular vote by 53 percent. With tears in my eyes, and joy in my heart, I stood alongside people of color across the nation as we celebrated America's first inauguration of a black president. As a young black man, I felt a true sense of patriotism as I witnessed our country rally together to show, finally, that we are more concerned about who is the most qualified man for the job, regardless of race or age....

President Obama capped off another week filled with Ebola concerns by hitting the links during a sunny afternoon in Washington, just 10 days before the midterm elections. The pool report said Obama left the White House for Virginia's Fort Belvoir golf course shortly after noon on Saturday, where he spent several hours with aides, according to reporters. On Friday, Obama met and hugged 26-year-old Dallas nurse Nina Pham hours after she was declared Ebola-free by the National Institutes of Health. In his weekly address earlier Saturday, the president underscored the effectiveness of treating Ebola patients in the U.S., which has...

President Barack Obama’s new Ebola "czar" Ron Klain has skipped another White House meeting on the Ebola crisis, a readout of who attended a Saturday meeting with Obama shows. Obama held the Ebola meeting after spending four hours and 40 minutes on the golf course at Fort Belvoir, according to the White House press pool report from the New York Daily News' Dan Friedman. “The President on Saturday evening convened members of his national security and public health teams to update him on the response to the domestic Ebola cases,” the White House said in an email blast Saturday evening....

Two hundred sounds like a lot but it’s small potatoes compared to what the most avid presidential golfer racked up. Woodrow Wilson managed to damage America in all sorts of durable ways while golfing a mind-boggling estimated 1,200 rounds in just six and a half years. (He was incapacitated for the last 18 months or so of his presidency due to a major stroke.) That’s roughly 3.5 rounds a week for every week of his presidency while he was able-bodied; Obama, by comparison, has racked up a meager 0.67 rounds per week, meaning he’s out there not quite every weekend...
