CNN’s Fareed Zakaria traveled to HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher on Friday to discuss the Israel-Hamas War and raising anti-Semitism on college campuses, the latter of which he tried to blame on Christians. Maher wondered why, of all the conflicts, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict gets such an emotional reaction out of young people. He concluded that, “It's got to be something about the Jews themselves because there are other people around the world who are oppressed, there are other 'colonized' places not that Israel colonized anything, but why this one place, why does this arouse especially among young people –...

Why is Middle America killing itself? The fact itself is probably the most important social science finding in years. It is already reshaping American politics. The Post's Jeff Guo notes that the people who make up this cohort are "largely responsible for Donald Trump's lead in the race for the Republican nomination for president." The key question is why, and exploring it provides answers that suggest that the rage dominating U.S. politics will only get worse. For decades, people in rich countries have lived longer. But in a well-known paper, economists Angus Deaton and Anne Case found that over the...

Vladimir Putin has the United States’ foreign policy establishment swooning. One columnist admires the “decisiveness” that has put him “in the driver’s seat” in the Middle East. A veteran diplomat notes gravely, “It’s the lowest ebb since World War II for U.S. influence and engagement in the region.” A sober-minded pundit declares, “Not since the end of the Cold War a quarter-century ago has Russia been as assertive or Washington as acquiescent.”

NEW YORK (AP) — Time editor-at-large and CNN host Fareed Zakaria has been suspended by both the magazine and the network for lifting several paragraphs by another writer for his use in a recent Time column. Zakaria apologized Friday, declaring in a statement he made "a terrible mistake," adding, "It is a serious lapse and one that is entirely my fault." In a separate statement, Time spokesman Ali Zelenko said the magazine accepts Zakaria's apology, but would suspend his column for one month, "pending further review." "What he did violates our own standards for our columnists, which is that their...

Fareed Zakaria : You Know, We Are Being Way Too Hard On Iran I honestly don't understand how some people come by a reputation as a serious thinker. Exhibit Number 1, Fareed Zakaria, who I like to think of as a younger and dumber Tom Friedman. He knows exactly what the problem with our Iran policy is...Obama won't talk to them. Early in the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama signaled that he was going to break with the Bush administration’s Manichean foreign policy. The topic was Iran. He explained repeatedly that the Bush policy of simply pressuring Iran was not...

Fareed Zakaria is commonly referred to as brilliant, but I think his brilliance is principally based in his ability to find the front of a parade and lecture everyone else about their shortcomings in the comfort of retrospection. He has a new article in Newsweak called "What America Has Lost." The bottom line of the article? The error this time is more damaging. September 11 was a shock to the American psyche and the American system. As a result, we overreacted. We overreacted to 9-11. Hmmm. 9-11 was a failure of intelligence, a failure of vigilance. We desperately needed to...

NBC's "Today" show invited on "Newsweek International" editor Fareed Zakaria to promote his book "The Post-American World," on Monday's show and during his segment the author depicted the United States as a nation in decline as he declared the "era" of "'American exceptionalism' is over." As examples of America's declining standing in the world the "Newsweek" editor cited such facts as China now having the "Largest ferris wheel in the world," Minneapolis' "Mall of America" no longer being the largest in the world and Macau having surpassed Las Vegas in the size of their casinos.

Another “think tank,” this one called the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU), has come out for total civilian disarmament and repeal of the Second Amendment. What’s new about that? ISPU is openly pro-Muslim, and the ISPU writer is a criminal defense attorney who argues for repealing parts of the Bill of Rights. You can read the whole article, entitled “In the Fight Against Terrorism, Some Rights Must Be Repealed,” by Junaid Afeef, on the ISPU website: http://www.ispu.us/pages/articles/2914/articleDetailPB.html A JPFO supporter sent us the link, and we did read the article, looking for: a. Inaccurate “facts” b. Missing data...
