    I went downtown to witness the first peace rally, but not to join in. After bombings of the World Trade Center in 1993, a U.S. military barracks, two American embassies, the USS Cole, and then 9/11, I am confident we have given peace enough chances. It was only curiosity that brought me there. What immediately became clear was that the rally was less about peace and more about attacking the Republican Party.
