WASHINGTON -- Senior Obama administration officials have agreed that the number of nuclear warheads the U.S. military deploys could be cut by at least a third without harming national security, according to those involved in the deliberations. Such a reduction would open the door to billions of dollars in military savings, which might ease the federal budget deficit. Two suspects, one armed with an "assault-type rifle," robbed a Cocke County bank and disarmed a responding police officer at gunpoint before making their escape this afternoon, authorities said. The robbery was reported about 3 p.m. at the Tennessee State Bank, 107 Epley Road, in Newport, according to Marshall Stone, supervisory agent with the FBI's Knoxville division.
