Florida Democrats mourn economic strength... Florida's unemployment rate in May was 3.2 percent, the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation said Friday. That's up from 3 percent in April and far below the nation's 4.6 percent unemployment mark. South Florida has a lower jobless rate. Palm Beach County reported a 3 percent unemployment level while Broward County reported 2.8 percent. While those figures remain near the lowest mark ever recorded for the state, there's one significant negative: Florida's pace of job creation, which is the nation's strongest, is slowing.
