Andrew Gillum, the Democratic nominee for the governorship of Florida, is responding to the widely reported news that he has been caught lying about perks he received while in office by accusing those who have noticed the stories of racism. Per Politico, “documents turned over to the Florida Commission on Ethics” show that Gillum has misled the public in at least two ways. First, by accepting tickets to the broadway show Hamilton from an undercover FBI agent who was posing as a lobbyist, and then pretending that he believed they had been purchased by his brother. Second, by staying at...

Undercover FBI agents paid for Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum's hotel room and his ticket to the Broadway musical Hamilton during a 2016 trip to New York City, according to a bombshell trove of records that raise new questions just two weeks before next month's election. The records include photos, a video and dozens of text messages between Gillum, former lobbyist Adam Corey and an undercover FBI agent, and they appear to refute what the mayor has said that trip and others. His campaign has maintained – and continued to maintain Tuesday – that Gillum believed the ticket came from his...

Ed Pawlowski, the former mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in federal prison for rigging city contracts in order to raise cash for his campaigns for higher office. A jury had convicted Pawlowski, a Democrat, on 47 of 54 charges in March – including conspiracy to commit bribery, fraud, and extortion. Federal prosecutors said Pawlowski came up with a scheme in which he solicited city vendors to fund his unsuccessful campaigns for governor and the U.S. Senate. The contracts included engineering, technology, construction and legal work.

A woman arrested on voter fraud charges just two weeks ago was arrested again Friday afternoon on new charges. Modesta Vela, 60, was arrested Friday afternoon at the nonprofit food pantry in Roma, confirmed Brenda Lee, spokesperson for the Starr County Special Crimes Unit. SCU investigators served Vela with four arrest warrants related to voter fraud, Lee said, which 229th District Attorney Omar Escobar clarified were for charges of tampering with a government record. Escobar said those records, in this case, referred to voter registration applications. A bond of $15,000 was set for each count. The arrest was a result...

Nellie Ohr exercised spousal privilege and largely declined to discuss conversations she had with her husband, Justice Department official Bruce Ohr, over the so-called “Steele dossier” during a meeting with two GOP-led House committees on Friday. The move prevented the GOP lawmakers from asking questions about the Ohrs’ role with the dossier, which made a series of allegations about President Trump’s ties to Russia. “There were some questions she would not get into — and those were the questions we wanted to ask,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). Democrats attending the joint interview with congressional investigators on the House Judiciary...

FBI agents this week raided the municipal offices in San Juan, Puerto Rico – rooting through documents and seizing digital records as part of a widespread investigation into fraud and obstruction of justice charges tied to the city government. San Juan’s purchasing division was the target of the raid. And while FBI special agent Douglas Leff did not implicate Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz in the raid, he did tell local media that “we are going to follow the investigation where it leads us.”Cruz tweeted Tuesday that she has instructed city officials to cooperate with federal authorities and said, “If someone...

In Puerto Rico, municipal offices not far from San Juan's mayor were raided by dozens of FBI agents yesterday, with lawmen looking for evidence of fixed contracts and falsified documents. An FBI spokesman told the Washington Examiner the operation was "pretty big" and the tips came from disgusted insiders. According to the Examiner: Agents were seen entering the Municipal Tower with dozens of empty boxes. The federal agents deployed to the third, fourth, 14th, and 15th floors of the 16-floor building, Osorio said. They were looking for any paper and electronic documents related to "corruption" inside the city administration's purchasing...

Campaign worker Glen Winfrey describes how McCaskill intends to explain to voters why she flip-flopped on the issue of impeaching President Trump. He says she will tell Missourians, “Get over it. It was a national security question.” He adds that hiding her intent to vote for Trump’s impeachment will be explained as patriotic.

Albany, NY -- The state's highest court, the Court of Appeals, has upheld the removal of Judge Leticia Astacio from the Rochester City Court bench. In the 8-page ruling the Court said it considered the full spectrum of Astacio's behavior and "its impact on public perception of the judiciary." The Court said, "Given petitioner’s apparent lack of insight into the gravity and impact of her behavior on both public perception of her fitness to perform her duties and on the judiciary overall, we conclude that any rupture in the public’s confidence cannot be repaired."

FBI agents raided a building Tuesday in Puerto Rico’s capital city of San Juan that is home to municipal offices associated with the administration of San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, a vocal political opponent of President Trump’s. "More than 10" but "less than 50" agents based on the Caribbean island arrived at the Municipal Tower at 9 a.m. ET and were still conducting the operation as of 2:30 p.m. when FBI spokesman for the U.S. territory, Carlos Osorio, spoke by phone with the Washington Examiner in the afternoon Tuesday. Last week, federal authorities fined Munilla Construction Management $25,868 for “serious” safety violations in its role as the contractor on the Florida International University bridge that collapsed in March, killing six people. The morning after the collapse, Juan Perez, director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, said the department’s homicide squad would explore criminal charges for contractors such as MCM. “We’ve got to look at the reality that there may be some negligence down the line,” Perez said. Full title: Maryland Implies Judicial Watch Has Ties to Russian Agents in Shameful Effort to Hide Voter Rolls Mess Maryland officials have resorted to desperate measures to avoid giving Judicial Watch voter registration records—as required by federal law—by suggesting Judicial Watch is connected to Russian government agents. The absurd implication was made in a federal court document involving a lawsuit filed last summer as part of a national Election Integrity Project to clean up voter rolls. Maryland is one of 11 states with more registered voters than citizens of voting age, according to U.S. Census Bureau data examined as part...
