As a family we have been reading an incredibly helpful and moving book, called the Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom. It is the true account of a christian family in in Nazi occupied Holland, sent to concentration camps for the crime of harboring Jews in their home. The two unmarried sisters, Corrie and Betsie, both in their fifties, were living with their godly Father, Kasper Ten Boom, when the Nazi war machine rolled into their lives, bringing death and turmoil to their formerly comfortable and predictable lives. Because they loved Jesus and the Word of God, they opened their...

Today, April 15, 2012 is the 120th anniversary of the birth of Corrie ten Boom. It is also the 29th anniversary of her death. She wrote the book The Hiding Place, about her family's story. In WWII, they lived in Haarlem Holland. They hid Jews in a small room in their home. The Nazis came and arrested the ten Boom family and sent them to concentration camps. Corrie was the only one who survived. But the Jews that were hiding there survived and escaped. You can read more about Corrie at the link. Happy birthday Dear Lady!Better yet, buy a...

Extend the 100-Year Prayer Meeting "God does not have problems. Only plans," proclaimed Corrie ten Boom when a clerical error allowed her to be released from a Nazi concentration camp one week before all women prisoners her age were executed. Though she was released from the horror of Ravensbruck concentration camp, Corrie continued to live with a remarkable reliance on God, just as her family had as they hid Jews from Nazi terror. Generations of ten Booms held Christian prayer meetings for Israel for 100 years prior to World War II. Click here to begin our inspirational virtual tour of...

Thanks to my wife who has this thing about not getting rid of books, I stumbled across a book I read years ago in my youth, “The Hiding Place” by Corrie ten Boom. The book chronicles the horrible experiences of Corrie and her family imprisoned in Nazi concentration camps. The epic cruelty and man's inhumanity to man is breathtakingly unbelievable. Due to the brutality, extreme exposure, malnutrition and filth, Corrie's sister Betsie died about a week before her release. Two incidents drove home to me the importance of timely acts of kindness. Upon her release, Corrie was struggling to get...
