In an interview during the Texas Tribune’s virtual festival, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said that should Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) leave his role as the Republican leader in Congress’ upper chamber, Cornyn would want to take his place. “It’s been my honor to work with Sen. McConnell, who’s been in the Senate a lot longer than I have,” said Cornyn when asked about the possibility of a future majority or minority leader from Texas. -snip- “But should he decide to step down and no longer serve as leader, I’ve made it no secret that I would like to succeed him,”...

President Joe Biden's administration will offer the COVID vaccine to migrants in U.S. custody along the Mexico border, a new report revealed, as the number of people stopped reaches a 20 year high. The administration plans to offer the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine to migrants as they await processing by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, The Washington Post reported, citing sources in the Department of Homeland Security. The vaccine would be given to those facing deportation as well as though released into the United States pending a court hearing.

Despite persistent and worsening polling on the Biden administration’s handling of immigration, two Senate Republicans on the Judiciary Committee are trying to make an amnesty deal. In a July 6 letter to Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) requested that the committee schedule an executive business meeting for a bill to “offer permanent legal status to only currently enrolled and activate participants in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program”. -snip- Curiously, Cornyn and Tillis are advocating for a DACA amnesty despite calling the DACA policy unlawful.

Sen. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, wants the Senate to permit people brought to the U.S. as children to stay in this country permanently. Cornyn joined Sen. Thom Tillis, R-North Carolina, in a letter this week asking Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, to consider a bill that would give permanent legal status to temporary residents allowed to stay in the U.S. under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy. -snip- Cornyn’s proposal of “permanent legal status” is vague and could refer to a number of things from green cards to full-blown citizenship. Cornyn’s office did not clarify what...

While Texas Senator John Cornyn claims to be a Republican, he is neck-deep in DC trying to help Democrats pass Amnesty for millions of illegals which would give Democrats full and permanent control of all future national US elections. ALIPAC.us believes Texans will rise up against Cornyn's Amnesty plans and push back with the help of activists from across the nation. "Sen Cornyn is completely out of sync with his home state of Texas by supporting Amnesty deals with Democrats for millions of illegals," said William Gheen, spokesman of ALIPAC. "It is time for everyone to get on the phones...

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) says the United States Senate should pass an amnesty for illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program as a stand-alone piece of legislation. This week, as Breitbart News reported, Cornyn and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) led a meeting with 12 other Senate Republicans and Democrats to explore the possibility of giving amnesty to 3.5 million enrolled and eligible DACA illegal aliens. -snip- “I would like to find a permanent solution for the DACA young people. I’m no longer comfortable using them to leverage other immigration provisions,”...

A group of Senate Republicans and Democrats met privately this week to discuss striking a deal on immigration – mainly on providing amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) led a meeting with 12 other Senate Republicans and Democrats to explore the possibility of passing an amnesty to give legal status to 3.5 million enrolled and eligible DACA illegal aliens. Other Senators in attendance included Chris Coons (D-DE), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Patrick...

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, along with U.S. Reps. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, and Tony Gonzales, R-Southwest Texas, introduced bipartisan legislation “to respond to the surge in migrants coming across our southern border.” The bill, called the “Bipartisan Border Solutions Act,” would add four processing facilities along the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as provide funding to hire people to work at them. Lawmakers also want to add up to 150 more immigration judges to help with processing, and Cuellar wants the judges to be stationed in border communities. “The bill would create four new regional processing centers for high traffic areas during...

The Republicans who represent corporations and not you are back with a new version on comprehensive immigration reform. They think that if they just pass it piece by piece, you'll be too stupid to notice and too craven to do something about it even if you did notice. It's actually worse than you might first thing, because "comprehensive" immigration reform, in granting the racial-reconquista left everything they wanted, at least offered some money for border protection as a trivial, gestural sop to the right. But note that John Cornyn is ditching the idea of even any fig leafs of border...

A bipartisan bill aimed at blunting the southern border crisis will reportedly be introduced Thursday by Sens. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. The bill would address the Biden administration’s ability to handle the surge of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, attempt to streamline migrant asylum claims in a "timely" manner and deter those unlikely to be approved and also "protect unaccompanied migrant children," according to The Hill.

Most GOP senators are dodging the Democrats’ efforts to seduce them into joining very unpopular amnesty bills by citing President Joe Biden’s border meltdown, according to Politico. “Many of us support giving a path to citizenship,” to younger illicit migrants, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), told Politico. “But now the border is such a disaster that I don’t optically discern how you can do just a bill to deal with [that],” she verbalized March 18. Politico accepts the border rationale for the GOP evasiveness — and ignores the immensely colossal unpopularity of wage-cutting amnesty bills even if the border is under...

The United States Chamber of Commerce says it is “critically important” for the Senate to pass two amnesty bills that will pack the U.S. labor market with more foreign workers. Last week, the Democrat-controlled House — with support from 30 House Republicans — passed two amnesty bills. One of the amnesties would put about 4.4 million young illegal aliens on track for American citizenship while the other would provide green cards to up to 2.1 million illegal aliens claiming to have worked on U.S. farms. The Chamber of Commerce praised the House Democrats’ passage of the amnesties. In a statement,...

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin said Sunday that he thinks he is "close" to securing the Republican votes needed to overcome a Senate filibuster to advance a key immigration measure that would provide a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. "I've been stopped by the filibuster five times from passing it. I had a majority, I didn't have 60 votes. Do I have 60 now? I think I'm close," the Illinois Democrat told CNN's Dana Bash on "State of the Union" Sunday. Durbin, the Senate's second-ranking Democrat, said he plans to...

In 2012, President Obama signed an executive memorandum that would delay the deportation of illegal aliens who entered the United States as minors. A new organization supported by Texas senior U.S. Sen. John Cornyn wants to make that change permanent. Formed by more than 30 colleges and economic development entities, The Texas Opportunity Coalition calls for legislation that would grant permanent legal status to “Dreamers,” the term given to recipients of Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). -snip- Cornyn addressed the group in a pre-recorded clip, endorsing their plan for a permanent path to citizenship for “Dreamers.” “When President...

The House of Representatives will take up two immigration-related bills this week including one that will give so-called 'DREAMers' a path to citizenship. The second bill would provide a pathway to citizenship for farm workers who are living in the country illegally. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to embrace a piecemeal approach to getting immigration legislation through after taking a whip count earlier this month and discovering President Joe Biden's larger immigration package didn't have the votes. Until then, they'll pass the two stand-alone bills, which passed in the last Congress as well, so to kickstart negotiations in the Senate....

It began with the flicker of a flashlight, muffled voices and the gentle splash of paddles carrying softly across the stillness of the Rio Grande Valley. As the silhouette drew closer to the shore we could suddenly see the bow of a small boat and the faces of women and children peering back at us though the gloom. Moments later the raft reached the riverbank and the dozen or so occupants began clambering on to U.S. soil with dreams of starting a new life in Joe Biden's America. As they stumbled around in the darkness a young woman tripped and...

The U.S. government plans to use the downtown Dallas convention center to hold up to 3,000 immigrant teenagers as sharply higher numbers of border crossings have severely strained the current capacity to hold youths, according to a memo obtained by The Associated Press. The announcement comes amid comments from Texas Governor Gregg Abbott on March 9 who called the situation at the border an ongoing humanitarian crisis. “This crisis as a result of President Biden’s policies invites illegal immigration and is creating a humanitarian crisis for Texas,” said Gov. Abbott. “His administration is helping the cartels make money and grow...

After two decades and multiple efforts to include a National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution, Congress finally voted to build the museum honoring the contributions of Latinos to the United States. Congress voted late Monday night on the $2.3 trillion omnibus spending package — which includes the bill to build a Latino museum as well as a separate bill to build a national women’s history museum as part of the Smithsonian Institution. The bill to build a National Museum of the American Latino was introduced by Texas Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and New Jersey Sen....

Carl Bernstein, one of the two journalists who exposed President Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal, has named Texas Sen. John Cornyn as one of 21 Republican senators to privately express how they "disdain and even despise" President Donald Trump. "With few exceptions, their craven public silence has helped enable Trump’s most grievous conduct—including undermining and discrediting the US the electoral system," Bernstein wrote on Twitter. "Many, if not most of these individuals from what I have been told, were happy to see Donald Trump defeated in this election as long as the Senate could be controlled by the Republicans," Bernstein said...
