On January 8th, ExtremeTech published a piece about Forbes forcing users to disable their ad blockers in order to see any content, and guess what happened. Malware. For the past few weeks, Forbes.com has been forcing visitors to disable ad blockers if they want to read its content. Visitors to the site with Adblock or uBlock enabled are told they must disable it if they wish to see any Forbes content. Thanks to Forbes’ interstitial ad and quote of the day, Google caching doesn’t capture data properly, either. What sets Forbes apart, in this case, is that it didn’t just force...

Jeffrey Gardner Boyd, the man charged with allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump and members of his family, repeatedly spoke about the QAnon conspiracy theory prior to his arrest according to a report. Pennsylvania State Police arrested the 55 year old from Tulsa, Oklahoma, on July 31 in Berwick, Columbia County. Officers discovered a loaded handgun and ammunition in his truck, ABC16 reported. He was charged with four counts of making terrorist threats with intent to terrorize another, according to court documents seen by Tulsa World, after he allegedly threatened to kill the President, as well as his daughter...

I was remembering today the big Y2K scare we had during the late 1990s. Does anybody remember that? All the computers in the world were to shut down at midnight January 1, 2000 because apparently the computers would not be able to recognize "2000" as a valid year and go haywire, thinking it was 1900 instead. As with many conspiracies, there was a grain of truth to this. There were many software programs at the time that had to be re-programmed to accept 2000 as a valid year. My wife was a COBOL programmer at the time and she had...

Apple CEO Tim Cook and President Donald Trump met for dinner last night, according to a tweet from the president. While details of the meeting are unclear at this point, it’s likely that tariffs were a central point of conversation… In a tweet ahead of the dinner last night, Trump explained that he was “looking forward” to the meeting, touting that Apple is investing “big dollars” into the United States. Reuters reports: “Looking forward to dinner tonight with Tim Cook of Apple. He is investing big dollars in U.S.A.,” said Trump, who is on vacation at his golf club in...

Celebrities including Amy Schumer and Chelsea Handler have launched an Instagram campaign targeted at Ivanka Trump, urging the US President's daughter to act on the administration's family-separation policy and calling for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. As part of the campaign, well-known figures followed by Ivanka Trump on Instagram -- including not just Schumer and Handler, but also American fashion entrepreneur Sophie Amoruso and British model Cara Delevingne -- have been posting messages detailing the alleged abuses of children under controversial family separations at the US-Mexico border in an effort to flood her feed. The coordinated messages...

Since time immemorial, mankind has always been in a constant state of evolution, through various innovative ideas, ground-breaking discoveries, and technologies. While technologies like war machines and drones play havoc in human civilization, there are certain technologies that aid in the betterment of our kind. One such technology is 3D Printing. What started as an experiment by Charles Hull in the early 80's, as a means for hardening tabletop coatings, 3D Printing has become a thriving multi-million dollar industry, with a potential for impacting innovations through all walks of our lives. On March 2017, in the backdrops of a quaint...

Facebook is blocking sites that provide instructions for creating 3D printed guns and deleting content related to the creation of such weapons. The company's decision comes as several states attempt to prevent such guidelines from being published online. Cody Wilson, a self-described "radical individualist," has waged an ongoing battle against the federal government for the right to publish his open-source code for 3D printing firearms. Wilson reached a settlement in June that would have allowed his company, Defense Distributed, to do just that. But the night before his site was to go live, a federal judge blocked the settlement and...

It seems like a lifetime in a dark cave, but I'm finally online from home again. My old computer (which was brand new at the beginning of last year) apparently couldn't be fixed. They sold me a used but better computer and put all my stuff on it besides. It's so good to be back. Hopefully this time it will last a while.

(VIDEO-AT-LINK) New analysis of malware campaigns suggests that North Korean hackers may have re-used malware and computer infrastructure, leaving a trail which increasingly allow incidents to be traced back to them. Examination of malware believed to be associated with North Korean cyber operations found the same code is often re-used in multiple attacks -- and increasing the confidence that a string of campaigns over the last decade have been the work of the hackers in the country. The joint research by security firms McAfee and Intezer reveals new connections between attacks believed to be the work of North Korea, a...

Part of an overall strategy. They know how successful conservative messages and articles are to people who are objective enough to read the other sides positions. They have to shut it down so that they cannot find good expositions from conservatives. They leave all the faux conservative ajd fakers like mccain and romney and graham and the like to pass off as the other side. Ultimately, its part of the strategy to silence our side in order to secure democrat election wins.

The Left want full control over speech so they can feed the public lies and disinformation without anyone being able to expose their lies The ban of the Alex Jones channel by Youtube was just the tip of the iceberg. Many more conservatives have also been banned by Youtube, Facebook, Apple and Twitter, but socialist political hacks can spout off 4 letter words on Youtube, and make hate filled racist remarks against whites on Twitter with impunity. Apparently, corporate media censors have gotten together to silence conservative voices. Is this just the usual Liberal hypocrisy, or something else? I think...

When it’s the survival of a beloved country voters can see at stake, survival is surprisingly resilient The ganging up and piling on of social media in the Midterm Election Campaign, members of which are the same ones that banned Alex Jones, is not new. In fact, it’s Election 2016 Redux, returning for a second stab in the back with a vengeance. Jones’ followers, already scrambling to find him any way possible, prove that there is life after Facebook, Apple, Spotify, Google YouTube et al.

No, I am not going to start this post with a disclaimer about how much I personally dislike Alex Jones and Infowars. No, I don't believe everything he says, anymore than I believe CNN or any other outlet, but I enjoy hearing a wide variety of perspectives. I also believe that a lot of important political activities happen behind closed doors, and I'm curious to find out as much as I can about the most important of them, and that apparently makes me a "conspiracy theorist". Further, having watched a fair amount of Alex Jones over the years, he has...

By making carbon leak (trickle down) through cracks on copper, researchers have developed a new process for “growing” graphene directly on materials used for nano-scale electronic applications, thereby opening the way to produce high-performance electronic devices. This versatile process, developed by a team of chemical engineers led by Indian-American Vikas Berry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the US, enables graphene to be economically grown on almost any semiconducting or dielectric substrate of relevance to the electronic industry, the researchers claim. They have reported this new method in the journal “ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces” of the...

If Amazon selects Dallas for its second headquarters, it will be adding to the region’s already rich retail DNA. While Dallas-Fort Worth is known for its business diversity, retailing represents a big slice — maybe one it’s not getting much credit for in the ongoing speculation about where the largest online retailer will decide to put its HQ2. When analysts size up the 20 cities that Amazon said it would pick from this year, they have looked at where each stands in regards to affordable housing, tech talent, quality of life and other measures Amazon says it’s looking for. That...

UAE and Greek companies claim world first tech allows architects to become industry’s master builders UAE-based 3D printing company Immensa Technology Labs has released the result of a joint effort with Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) to recover a series of concrete casting techniques with the aid of large-format 3D printing. In what the two companies claim is a world-first, a ‘Sensorial Adaptive Concrete Screen’ was developed with NOWlab, the innovation department of Berlin-based BigRep. The screen showcases techniques that once belonged to skilled craftsman but have had life breathed back into them through expert digital fabrication. According to a statement...

Companies have been showing an increasing preference for hiring Americans since President Donald Trump imposed heavier scrutiny on visas heavily used to hire foreign tech workers. While some companies say they need more of the visas to make up for a shortage of American talent, data suggests the visas have been abused to displace American workers. In April 2017, Trump issued an executive order to “Buy American and Hire American.” In response, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) set on to fight fraud and abuse in the H-1B Visa Program. H-1Bs allow U.S. companies to hire up to 85,000 foreign...

Energized by the internet persona Q’s complex web of conspiracy notions about the forces aligned against President Donald Trump, Q’s followers have spread virally online and now, in real life too, forming a movement known as QAnon. From somewhere in the vast and mysterious “deep state,” a dissident agent rises up to give the people cryptic clues about how their heroic president will push back the forces of evil and make America great again. The renegade informant is known only as “Q,” and if he actually exists, it’s not as a character in a movie, but somewhere in the Washington,...
