Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner noticed the rather curious way Hillary Clinton’s book “Hard Choices” is being displayed in the window of Kramerbooks in Washington, D.C.:

Over the past few weeks, political news outlets have been filled with articles beaming about the masterful strategy of the GOP establishment in crushing grassroots challenges. They smugly celebrate the wily tactics of Senator Mitch McConnell, the Chamber of Commerce, and Crossroads in counterattacking the Tea Party. But when you think past the initial headline, you will find that there is nothing special, clever, or innovative about their strategy. It is quite simple. Members of the political class, which is comprised of the leaders in both parties, support unconstitutional policies, corporate welfare, amnesty for illegals, consistent debt ceiling increases, federal...

At Philz Coffee in Palo Alto, Calif., a kid who looks like he should still be in high school is sitting across from me. He's wearing Google Glass. As I stare into the device's cyborg eye, I'm waiting for its tiny screen to light up. Then, I wait for a signal that Google Glass has recognized my face. It isn't supposed to do that, but has hacked it. "Essentially what I am building is an alternative operating system that runs on Glass but is not controlled by Google," he said. Balaban wants to make it possible to do all sorts...

House Democrats this week have amplified their calls for new spending on infrastructure and other federal projects in the face of May's discouraging job-creation figures. Even as Republicans are insisting on "trillions" of dollars in spending cuts, Democrats maintain that a targeted injection of additional federal dollars in the near-term would go a long way toward reversing the hiring slump. Friday's disappointing job report, they say, only bolsters their case. "The American people, while concerned about the deficit, place much more emphasis on job creation, and they see a role for the government," Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) told The Hill....

President Obama says there will be an answer on whether his White House attempted to bribe Rep. Joe Sestak to stay out of the senate primary in Pennsylvania. But not yet. Sure, it would seem that with White House spokesman Robert Gibbs’s assurance that all conversations...

As the ever-more-curious James O’Keefe arrest story continues to develop, the Louisiana Democrat Party has now weighed in with a reliably breathless, stupid and illogical statement. In a release late this afternoon, acting state party head Michael McHale said the following… “This is a Louisiana Watergate. Louisiana families are shocked and outraged that these men would break the law to carry out their political agenda with this Watergate-like break-in and attempted wiretapping. Given his ties to some of the players involved, Sen. Vitter should immediately denounce the actions of these four men and anyone who may have instigated, supported or...

Does Your Pet Seem Almost Human? It May Be A Clever Response To LonelinessHigh five! If people feel lonely, they are more likely to describe a pet as having humanlike mental states. (Credit: iStockphoto/Annette Wiechmann) ScienceDaily (Jan. 20, 2008) — New research at the University of Chicago finds evidence for a clever way that people manage to alleviate the pain of loneliness: They create people in their surroundings to keep them company. "Biological reproduction is not a very efficient way to alleviate one's loneliness, but you can make up people when you're motivated to do so," said Nicholas Epley, Assistant...

A long time ago, I bought into the Reaganazi drug war propaganda. Most people around me, both conservative and liberal, still do. Needless to say, reading libertarian and liberal (TRUE LIBERALS...NOT "WE ARE WIMPS WHO CAVE INTO NEO-CONSERVATIVE BIGOTS" LIBERALS) has greatly changed my perspective on the issue, and I have come to a number of conclusions: 1. A fix percentage of society will become addicted to such substances as alcohol, nicotine, and whatever is contained in drugs regardless of any sort of government prohibition. 2. The War on All Drugs Not Controlled by Government Lobby Groups (yep, that's really...
