Wait until all the cameras are on you, then hold up a large sign with this quote below. No need to say a word. “We have to send a clear message, just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay. So, we don’t want to send a message that is contrary to our laws or will encourage more children to make that dangerous journey.” Hillary Rodham Clinton (2014)

Ventura County sheriffs said they were called to a home in the 4900 block of Summit View Drive in Thousand Oaks for a medical emergency and one person was taken to the hospital. “I think the family did the right thing,” said board certified psychiatrist Charles Sophey. “They were smart enough to call for help.” Sophey doesn’t treat Locklear but knows her history. Locklear has been in rehab numerous times including a treatment facility this past March, weeks after being arrested for domestic violence against her fiance and striking officers when she was in custody. “Clearly when she’s in these...

Sierra Vista — Hunched against the chilly winds that followed one of the summer’s first rainstorms, Sierra Vista residents gathered at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday to witness the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps Band play its final concert, signaling the end of a 141-year musical legacy at Fort Huachuca. Although the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps Band, also known as the 62nd Army Band, first received its orders to inactivate two years ago following broader government efforts to downsize military bands, it made the final concert no less emotional for participants and attendees, who were accustomed to hearing the...

By Monday morning, at least 56 people had been hit by gunfire in Chicago over the weekend. At least nine of them died(snip) "Most of Chicago celebrated and enjoyed this weekend," Chicago police First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio told reporters,(snip) "However, we saw an unacceptable and frustrating level of gun violence in several communities. “There’s too many illegal guns on the street,” he added, echoing a constant theme of his boss, Superintendent...

Captain Raphael Semmes of CSS Alabama struck his colors to the USS Kearsarge. Captain John Winslow's Kearsarge had pounded the Alabama into a smoldering, sinking wreck in a one hour battle off the coast of Cherbourg France. As she sunk, about 70 of her crew were rescued by the Kearsarge and about 30 by other ships in the area. Alabama had lost about 40 men killed during the battle. Captain Semmes escaped aboard a British ship. During her career as a commerce raider, CSS Alabama had captured or destroyed 65 U.S. flagged ships, and captured about 2000 of their crews....

Sunday's election of a hard-core conservative in Colombia has left the media elites and their pundits befuddled. Some are calling Ivan Duque, the 41-year-old new conservative president-elect a 'populist' as if to suggest that both President Trump and the late unlamented Venezuelan strongman, Hugo Chavez, are all dreadful peas in the same pod. Others are speculating that Colombia elected another Emmanuel Macron, as if France's youthful, namby-pamby president amounted to a comparable sea change that this election represents. We heard of the new president summed up as 'pro-business' by the Wall Street Journal, as if that was all he meant...

His name was Bubba, he was from Mississippi ... And he had a problem.... So... He walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan Officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris for an International redneck festival for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000; and that he was not a depositor of the bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Redneck handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in...

PHOENIX - Arizona Sen. John McCain weighed in Monday on the Trump administration's zero-tolerance policy for undocumented immigrants crossing the border. The Republican senator tweeted Monday afternoon, saying the administration should put an end to the policy. "The administration’s current family separation policy is an affront to the decency of the American people, and contrary to principles and values upon which our nation was founded," McCain tweeted. "The administration has the power to rescind this policy. It should do so now."

Giant hogweed is part of the carrot family, and for a toxic plant, it is surprisingly pretty. It can grow up to 14 feet tall, with thick leaves stretching two to five feet across and large clusters of white flowers gracing the top of the plant in an umbrella pattern. The spray of white flowers looks similar to Queen Anne's Lace, but the experts at Massey Herbarium note that giant hogweed is much larger, with chunkier leaves. The Virginia Tech group posted photos of the plant on Facebook, urging anyone who comes across a giant hogweed plant to report it...

The Medusae Fossae Formation rises near the equator of Mars. The soft rock has been carved by wind erosion into a collection of ridges, valleys and striking mesas. It's massive. It's strange. And scientists are now tracing its origin to explosive volcanic activity in Mars' deep past. NASA has referred to Medusae Fossae as "an enigmatic pile of eroding sediments." UFO enthusiasts once spotted what they believed to be a UFO there, which is mainly a testament to the exotic shapes formed in the wind-blasted area. A study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets now traces Medusae Fossae...

“They should be sent back as soon as it can be determined who responsible adults in their families are. There are concerns about whether all of them can be sent back, but I think all of them who can be should be reunited with their families… We have to send a clear message: Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean the child gets to stay. We don’t want to send a message that’s contrary to our laws or will encourage more children to make that dangerous journey.”
