We participate in a small group through our larger church. Most groups meet Sunday evenings, though some do meet during the week. There are currently 6 in our group, but we hope to add another couple of families early in the new year.
We are currently studying the Truth Project (www.thetruthproject.org) which has honestly been the best study I have ever done. Previously, we did Blackaby’s “Experiencing God.”
Our church has a minister devoted to small groups who is always happy to talk to others about small groups. Feel free to freepmail me and I’ll put you in touch.
Our small group has become a true family, and my husband and I have a better relationship with each other and with the Lord, largely due to our participation in this small group.
The Sopranos has never been my favorite show but it’s been very successful and I agree that “a show that idolizes gangsters, murder, rape, debauchery, crudeness and drug users” is not an accurate representation, but...has anyone seen the commercials announcing the Sopranos coming to A&E? Scenes of a tractor blowing up, young boys vandalizing bicycles with bats, etc. with a tagline something like “the Sopranos - all across America.” If I didn’t know anything about this show, these commercials don’t make me want to know more. It’s funny in a way if you’re a fan, so perhaps that’s who the spots are intended for?

I would like to know how specific the permission slip was that those 41 parents signed. Did it say “tour of non-profit organizations in our community”? Or did it specifically mention Planned Parenthood? Whoever set up this field trip was either terminally stupid, or had a definite agenda....(I think we know which)

I’m very creative with inexpensive meals but would also like to know how others do things. I’m sure there are plenty of online boards on cooking budget meals. Is there a ping list at FR for good old-fashioned “home economics”? I would be willing to learn how to run a ping list if there were interest. I have hundreds of great recipes and would love to share!
