  • Why a socialist can't be a superhero and vice versa

To begin with, "socialist" and "superhero" are a contradiction in terms. To be a superhero, one needs the innovation of capitalism and the conservative values of self-reliance. Progressives argue that superheroes must be socialist because they believe in science, otherwise they wouldn't be able to develop all their gadgets and souped up vehicles, etc., e.g. Batman.

  • Garcia, Sharks Win Incredible ArenaBowl XXIV

PHOENIX, AZ - Aaron Garcia finally did it. He threw the game-winning touchdown pass to give the Jacksonville Sharks a 73-70 victory over the Arizona Rattlers in what may have been the best ArenaBowl game in Arena Football history. Arizona quarterback Nick Davila, who passed for 338 yards and eight touchdowns in the game, gave the Rattlers the lead 70-67 with 21 seconds to play. But it was Garcia who stole the show. Garcia set a new ArenaBowl record with 402 passing yards, breaking Sherdrick Bonner's previous record of 367 yards, set in 2004 against San Jose. He had eight...

  • Rep. Colloton Misfires on Citizenship Training (Homeschool Alert)

The Lawrence Journal-World reported that state Representative Pat Colloton (R-Leawood) “...would like to see the state pass laws requiring home schools to supply proof that they’re providing a well-rounded education, complete with citizenship training.” Sometimes you don’t need to pass a new law to find proof. In 2002, Dr. Brian D. Ray studied the civic involvement of homeschoolers. He found that among students who had completed high school in a homeschool setting: 16% more wrote or telephoned an editor or public official, or signed a petition than others. 30% more attended a public meeting.

Meeting the immigration challenges of the 21st century We are nation of immigrants. The hard work and contributions of millions of legal immigrants are an important part of our America’s history. Our immigration policy, however, must first and foremost ensure the security of our great nation and its citizens. Especially during these treacherous times, our focus must be on preventing those who would harm us from entering our country and in providing the resources our border agents need in order to accomplish this. I oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. I support a plan that matches workers with needy employers without...
