Right like that has happened before. Did Kerry get prosecuted for outing that guy? Nope!

Place your bets folks. Will said names be outed in 12hrs, 24hrs, or 36hrs? I'm putting $100 on 12hrs. Any takers? Double bonus points if you guess the first paper. NYT or Newsweak?

I was a little off on the timing. You do realize I was referring to the sinking of US naval river boats in China. My point was that hostilities predated Pearl. We were antagonizing each other for several years. The Flying Tigers for example. The actual event that triggered the sanctions was, ironically enough, Japanese occupation of Vichy French Indo China. Or as it is known today, Vietnam

As for picking two stupid fights, your opinion. We could probably of ignored Europe. But then would Stalin of swept all the way to the Atlantic? Or would Germany of figured out the bomb? I do think do to our economic interests in China at the time, and the Philippine islands being as strategic as they are, that conflict with Japan was inevitable.

" I only ask because apart from our intervention on China's behalf, the Japanese wouldn't have given a damn about us"

The Philippine islands would of been taken regardless of our actions. They were likely next. We were also very close to China at the time. Goes back to the boxer rebellion

But I think the sanctions where the result of Jap agresssion against the US navy in China. Pearl Harbor was not the first strike. The Japs sunk one or two ships, the names escape me, and America did nothing. Thus emboldening the Japs. Kinda of like the Pacific version of the reoccupation of the Rhineland. IMO

Don't include the US in the "we" part. The US never ratified the treaty. Partly out of isolationism, and partly out of concerns for the massively unfair reparations.

The treaty was the direct result of French delusions of grandeur.

Further, the starting point of the war in Europe is the reoccupation of the Rhineland. Had the French stepped up at that point, history MAY have been different. But then there would still be the war in the pacific, which started much earlier.

My questions apply to all hunters

I have no idea, but can you really tell from 300 yards away if a cat has a collar or not? When in doubt, take him out?

Further, how do you know a cat is really feral, and not a farm cat? Don't farmers keep barn cats to control rodents?

On the other hand, unless we get to the point that we have a large rodent problem, owners should be responsible and keep their cats indoors. But this proposal seems like a rather extreme way to solve owner irresponsibility. Why not simply level fines for cats caught outdoors?

Persons Not in the Labor Force (Household Survey Data)

There were 1.6 million persons who were marginally attached to the labor
force in March, about the same as a year earlier. (Data are not seasonally
adjusted.) These individuals wanted and were available to work and had looked
for a job sometime in the prior 12 months. They were not counted as unemployed, however, because they did not actively search for work in the 4 weeks preceding
the survey. The number of discouraged workers, at 480,000 in March, was little changed from a year earlier. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally
attached, were not currently looking for work specifically because they believed no jobs were available for them. The other 1.1 million marginally attached had not searched for work for reasons such as school attendance or family responsibilities. (See table A-13.)

The purpose of my post was to point out that the unemployed number is manipulated by the gov't. Further the true number of unemployed is likely much higher than we think. Indeed the point maybe that people smoking crack would not be in the unemployed number.

Query: Do you always post with your head up your ass? It took all of 20 seconds to find the information above. Maybe you should of used those 20 seconds to educate yourself, instead of rushing to be sarcastic. I hope you are proud of your post as it added nothing to the conversation.

    Have a nice day!

I think, correct me if I'm wrong, but those numbers are fudged. If I remember correctly, if you stop looking for work after x amount of time, the gov't removes you from the unemployment count. Thus artificially lowering the rate. The folks who had factory jobs (steel mills, etc) and are now on permanent gov't handout would not be counted in that rate. So while yes the economy is improving, IMO it is still a far cry from good.

I would be curious if anyone knows off the top of their heads, if the Euros manipulate their unemployment numbers in the same way or not.

Bob is being a little melodramatic. By his logic lets do away with audited financials all together. Cause it places an undo burden on companies.

Sorry but IMO this act is good. It levels the playing field. By making CEOs personally responsible it will lessen the unwritten pressure on accountants to cook the books. There should now be a drive to make sure the statements are correct.

Also the revisions in section 201 have been long over due. The ridiculous fiction that an accounting firm can objectively audit a company while at the same time provide significant consulting services was utter BS and about time they fixed it.

There are things that both due well. However, who is to say that a future enemy won't find a way to jam the signals to UCAVs? As the UAVs get shot down, the enemy learns more and more about them, eventually they will learn how to counter them. Sure, we could replace all pilots with UCAVs, but that would IMO be making some very dangerous assumptions. Kinda like assuming the Titanic is unsinkable, that the Maginot line is impenetrable, etc

It is my understanding that most of these types of self spotters have hooks attached to the bar. You simply twist the bar and it catches on the spotting rack. Probably wouldn't of helped him in the middle of a heart failure. And Nautalis type machines typically can't handle that much weight anyway.

As for the weight, yes you should have a spotter, but that could of been a comfortable set for him. He might not of even considered it hard. I personally wouldn't bother with a spot on 225lbs. I'm sure a former Pro player can throw around 250 easily enough. That being said, if I'm at home alone, I switch to dumbbells. Why risk it?

Interesting contradiction. They empower women by letting them handle weapons, and being able to arrest men. Yet they demean them by having them wear the Burkas. I would think in the long run such a contradiction would be unsustainable.

up or down would be relative.

An object thrown from space would continue on into forever. Unless it were dragged into a gravity well. Otherwise even if it were to collide with a rock it would still have momentum. Think of billiards on ice. It would not go up and then fall back. That would only happen from the bottom of a gravity well, ie a planet surface, etc

You are refering to what I think is a Shia practice. Part of the holiday that is going on now I think. I'm pretty sure the Sunni don't do that.

If this kid graduated from a Wahabbi school then I would assume he is Sunni. So the scars aren't likely from that.

Not saying he may or may not of deserved them, but I would assume the scars would be legit.

For sure part of the problem. But the other half is we are competing with some companies that are gov't owned. They are just jobs programs for these countries, and wouldn't know a profit if it bit them in the butt.

I've had an idea for a couple of years now. Someone should start a Patriot Mart. Sort of the Anti Wal-Mart. In order to have shelf space, the products sold must either have 60% or more of its manufacturing here in the US, or 60 to 70% of its employees here in the US, etc.

Would be an interesting experiment, would "made in the USA" be able to compete with the "rolling back prices" and jobs of Wal-Mart

    Odd

The Islamists usually like to brag. Their tapes are usually loaded with graphics for this or that group, so they can brag about it. No mention of which group has this guy ( or did I miss it?) There are no banners behind him proclaiming the glory of allah, or whatever rot it is they usually say. No on screen graphics either. What ever the truth is, this tape doesn't seem to be along the same lines as the usual. At least the ones I have seen. Also the gunman isn't on screen, is he? Just the weapon, and part of a hand. The only other tape that I saw where the islamist wasn't in the picture was that Hassan deserter guy. That one just had the sword over the guys head, right? I don't remember if there was the usual graphics/banners on that one.

    Just speculating.

I think I read that overall only 1/3 of the hostages have been killed, although I don't think it broke that down by nation. I would suspect more Americans have been killed.

While we wait for that we allow American jobs to be permanently lost? Doesn't sound fair to me. I have no problem competing with fairly with someone, but China isn't playing by the same rules.

Also there is no guaranty the Chinese will rebel in our favor. Looking at their history, they have tossed or attempt to toss westerns out on several occasions.
