Just a post for a pause. We may just be seeing the golden age Scott Adams has described recently. Reject the melanin content, and observe the intellectual content. We are all on the verge of winning. God bless the USA. ~W

I know this might turn into an uncomfortable thread. First off, i'm in my mid-40's. I don't even really know why i'm posting this. However, i have this "pull" to construct my final resting accommodations. OK, let me flash forward a little bit... I loved my grandfather dearly. He was a man of very few words, and a lot of hard work; he was a sharecropper. I was always in awe of him. When i was a very young man, 7-ish, he started to teach me woodworking. He taught me; he made things with his hands with me. He showed...

I created this thread to compile hilarious and compelling "Hell Week" & other boot camp stories. Let em' rip.

I live out in the sticks. I keep a pellet rifle near the door, because the grey squirrel population has gotten ridiculous; and the neighbors are too close to claim dominance with even a .410 shotgun. She came home today in all her youthful glory, and i told her she had a treat waiting (a Twix bar); but we had to pull watch before she received it. Of course, she wanted to know what was necessary. I pointed to the air rifle and said, "We have to watch that rifle; because you never know when it will jump up and...

"There is a time to come and a time to go. This is the right time, for me, to leave politics and return to the justice system."

I would bet this has been posted before, but i could'nt find it in search. Epic DJT trolling manifests in DemonRat legislation. I had not seen this before today. h/t /r/The_Donald "This bill amends provisions governing presidential records to: (1) revise the definition of "documentary material" to include social media; (2) revise the definition of "presidential records" to include any personal and official social media account; and (3) define "social media" as any form of electronic communication (such as a website for social networking and microblogging) through which users create an online community to share information, ideas, personal messages, and...

It is like watching a fish pulled from the ocean; desperate to breathe. No hope, the hook is set...pure desperation. I almost feel bad for loving it so much. But not that much.

About 50 million people visit New York every year and more than eight million live there but no one seems to have heard of The Teardrop...which is odd because it is a 100ft tall, 175-ton memorial to those who died on the city's blackest day. Learning of its existence by chance, I tried to discover more from locals at Ground Zero, where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre stood until September 11, 2001, and was met with blank expressions. Our search began at the World Trade Centre station, where a train took us to Exchange Place in New...

Yesterday our area in MO was blindsided by an ice storm that was not supposed to happen. At about the time i was warming up the car to head to the bus stop and get my 6 year old daughter, my wife and i received a phone call that the buses would not be running and we would have to pick our child up. We live in a rural area, and were only about 5 miles from her school. The ride to the school was dicey, but driving 20mph, we made it there with no problems except rattled nerves. We...

He said, "That (expletive deleted) about gays being thrown off buildings in the Middle East for one. He just makes (expletive deleted) up!" He laughed and shook his head in the familiar attitude of the self-righteous lib. "Dude," I said. "That's true. They do that." "(Expletive deleted)!" "Look it up." To his credit, he did some Googling. When I saw him later, he said,"I (expletive deleted) looked that up. That's (expletive deleted) twisted! I can't believe they (expletive deleted) do that (expletive deleted)!" FRiends, JennysCool post hit me pretty hard tonight. I think this is how we are winning, and how...

I have followed all the Ferguson threads here on FR since the mike brown shooting with intensity; and restrained from comment from the plethora of opportunity, until now. My wife and 3 stepchildren are all from Ferguson, one of which still resides there with her father. I myself lived on Airport & Jackson, right on the border of what's left of Kinloch for quite some time. I'm intimately famaliar with the culture there. We've endured the criminal behaviour, and mob road blocks, and miscellaneous nefarious activities for years and years. The calls for violence against "whitey", law enforcement or civilian,...

Rio de Janeiro—The People’s Summit for Social and Environmental Justice at the Rio +20 Earth Summit sprawls through the beautiful Flamengo Park that curves along the lovely beach at Guanabara Bay. Giant tents in the park house five chief plenary discussions and scores of smaller tents shelter a wide variety of earnest discussions about the perfidy of corporations in this age of late capitalism. As it happens, I just caught the tail-end of a speech at the Energy Plenary by an American black woman who urged the audience to fight for “economic, social, gender, and erotic justice.” Evidently fearing that...

The State Department has confirmed President Obama will skip the Rio+20 sustainable development summit in Brazil next week. It’s the third consecutive global environmental conference that Obama will miss after he avoided the last two UN climate talks in South Africa and Mexico. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Environmental Protection Agency head Lisa Jackson will lead the U.S. delegation.

The Blaze has an article today concerning CITE (Center for Innovation, Testing and Evaluation)and the development of a ghost city to test emerging "smart technology". Mr. Beck has denounced sustainable development on a few occasions in his broadcasts, but seems to be quite comfortable with the New Mexico project on the basis that it is "privately funded". I don't care where the money comes from. Its the ideology. Lets take a look at a few people at Pegasus Global Holdings. Dr. Patricia D. Galloway - CEO(from .pdf bio) Technical Papers & Presentations: “Role, Responsibility and Risk Considerations of the Engineer...

In 2009, President Barack Obama reportedly called members of the Tea Party "teabaggers." It turns out that our fourth greatest president, first in so many things, may have been the first "teabagger" himself, as seen in the 1997 photograph above. Yes, that really is Barack Obama wearing a regimental coat and carrying a tricorn hat in his hand. And that flag behind him really is a Gadsden flag, with its serpent and its "Don't Tread On Me" slogan. You may want to let all of this sink in a bit, especially if you're a Tea Party-bashing progressive. Neither Democrats nor...
