I have questions concerning short and long term disability, life insurance and employment. The questions will require a lot of set-up and will contain a lot of personal information. If you don't feel like reading to the end and providing your best guest as to serious answers, please don't feel pressured to stick around. I have cancer. Back in the fall of 2016, I was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer; by that time, the initial tumor was 14cm long, and 7cm in both height and width, and other tumors had spread to my femurs, pelvic bone and spine. During...

Hello, all. I'm no stranger to shooting. I hunted for small game, growing up, I qualified, in the Army, as an "Expert" rifleman, and I occasionally take the family out shooting now. Though I was an Expert in the Army, that shooting was limited to 300 yards, and since I was in the Signal Corps, I really only shot once per year to retain my qualification. I've recently become interested in long range shooting. I've been looking at optics that would lend themselves to that pursuit. I know that brands like Leupold and Nightforce are the heavy-hitters in this arena,...

John Perry Barlow was an eclectic character who led an eclectic life. He began life in a devout Mormon family in Wyoming, found himself writing lyrics for the cult favorite Greatful Dead rock band in his adulthood, and ended life as an outspoken co-founder and contributor to his Cyberspace freedom organization, the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Barlow's health suffered, considerably, in his later life. He faced several "debilitating health conditions" prior to and following a nearly fatal heart attack in May of 2015. His poor health was no secret: In October of 2016, a "Wellness fund" was established in his name...

Hopefully, I can get some productive answers before the self-righteous "got rid of TV years ago" crowd shows up: I got rid of satellite TV service a couple of years ago. Since then, I've used "Sling" streaming TV service and "Hulu TV" streaming TV service. I'm done with Hulu TV's ridiculous user interface, constant "streaming" screens, lack of 5.1 audio, etc. I switched to Hulu TV from Sling because Hulu had Fox News and CBS sports, neither of which I've spent much time watching. It's just not worth Hulu TV's glaring negatives. I may switch back to Sling, but I...

On Friday afternoon FBI Director James Comey announced that due to new findings, the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server had been reopened. The new information was found inadvertently during a separate, unrelated investigation of former Congressman Anthony Weiner's sexting with an underage girl. Emails related to Hillary Clinton's case were found on a laptop belonging to Weiner and ex-wife Huma Abedin, who is a longtime aide for Clinton. As a result, requests for search warrants to read through the new information were submitted to the Department of Justice. They still haven't been approved. Yahoo News has the...

Cirque du Soleil said on Friday it was canceling shows in North Carolina over a new state law that it called discriminatory, the performance group said on Friday, becoming the latest entertainment act to take a stance against the measure. "The new HB2 legislation passed in North Carolina is an important regression to ensuring human rights for all ... Cirque du Soleil believes in equality for all," the group said in an online statement. North Carolina last month became the first state to enact a measure requiring transgender people to use restrooms and locker rooms in schools and other public...

On Friday, President Barack Obama announced he would sign an Executive Order directing every relevant agency of the Federal government to take steps in identifying bottlenecks to competition and to create new ways to increase competition in the economy. The Executive Order puts agencies on a fast-track path to, within 60 days, identify the steps they’ll take. “Competition is good for consumers,” Obama told Yahoo Finance in an interview at the White House on Thursday. “And ultimately it's good for business. That's the way the free market works. The more competition we have, the more products, services, innovation takes place.”...

Republican presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said he supports the ability of North Carolina lawmakers to pass a law restricting bathroom access for gay and transgender people. Cruz said Thursday during taping of a MSNBC town hall in Buffalo, New York, that states can pass such laws because "men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls."

Geraldo Rivera said Thursday night that Sen. Ted Cruz’s attack on “New York values” is actually a form of anti-Semitism. In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “O’Reilly Factor,” Mr. Rivera, also a Fox News correspondent, said that Mr. Cruz’s explanation that he meant to attack a certain sort of liberalism didn’t hold water because “”He could have very easily said that.” Mr. Rivera called the “New York values” comment an example of “stinking anti-Semitic implications” pandering to Iowa voters, the nominal audience for the debate during which Mr. Cruz made the remarks about real-estate tycoon Donald Trump.

Ted Cruz has been challenging Donald Trump to debate him, one-on-one, for months. Today, Trump agreed. Or not. The Texas senator employed the trolling meme — in which a video is interrupted by a clip of one-hit wonder Rick Astley singing his 1987 song, "Never Gonna Give You Up" (a gag commonly referred to as "Rickrolling") — as his way of informing the viewer that there would be no showdown.

RUSH: Vinny in Long Island. Vinny, it's great to have you back on the program. It's been a while. It's good to see your name up on the board there. How you doing? CALLER: Hi, Rush. Maybe that's another Vinny, but I'm a first-time, longtime, and probably a 95-percenter, which means -- RUSH: Oh, so you're not the usual Vinny? Okay. CALLER: No, there's a lot of conservative Vinnies from Long Island (chuckles), as you can imagine. RUSH: Well, there's a lot of people in Long Island, so, yeah. It would makes sense that there are a lot of them...

It's appearing obvious that Trump will win South Carolina, and logic would tend to indicate that that makes him the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination (baring any GOPe dirty tricks at the convention). While I will gladly vote for Trump over Clinton or Sanders, I'm still disheartened. Ever since the last day of Reagan's administration, America has been in need of conservative leadership. GHW Bush's squishiness gave us Clinton. GW Bush barely won election. I'm glad he was in office after 9/11 instead of Gore, but he loaded us up with tons of debt and a lot of...

AUSTIN, Texas –  A Houston grand jury investigating undercover footage of Planned Parenthood found no wrongdoing Monday by the abortion provider but instead indicted anti-abortion activists involved in making the videos that provoked outrage among Republican leaders nationwide. David Daleiden, founder of the Center for Medical Progress, was indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs. Another activist, Sandra Merritt, was also indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record.

Are there any Linux gurus here? I've looked around online and asked some questions in various forums, but I'm not getting anywhere. I've found explanations of how to set it up, but no examples. I have yet to get it working. I am trying to configure an environment with several Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 virtual machines. All of these machines need to be NTP clients of my NTP server. The NTP server uses MD5 authentication, and I need to have the Linux clients authenticate the NTP traffic. Can someone please post a working "ntp.conf" and "keys" file so that...

So, I've been chiming in on the Cruz bashing threads around here with my own bashes on Trump. When it comes down to it, I'd rather have Cruz win the nomination than Trump. BUT I'd rather have either of them win the nomination than Hillary. I'd rather have either of them win the nomination than Sanders. I'd rather have either of them win the nomination than Bush. I'd rather have either of them win the nomination than Huckabee. I'd rather have either of them win the nomination than Rubio. So, I'm done. I'm going to stop piling on in all...

Brushing aside pressure from Canada, Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday that the United States will not be pushed into making a decision on the long-delayed Keystone XL pipeline. At a joint appearance with Canada's foreign affairs minister, John Baird, Kerry said he has not received a crucial environmental report on the $7 billion pipeline, which would carry oil from western Canada to refineries in Texas. "My hope is that before long, that analysis will be available, and then my work begins," Kerry said, referring to a recommendation he is expected to make on whether the pipeline is in...

The guys from "Duck Dynasty" are NOT in danger of losing their biggest sponsor, Under Armour -- 'cause while the company tells TMZ its not down with Phil Roberston's homophobic comments, its not willing to kill the business relationship ... yet. ( my edit ) Under Armour didn't use the word "homophobic", that was TMZ. ( end of my edit ) UA -- which sponsors the Duck Commander business, founded by Phil -- just issued a statement to TMZ ... saying, "We have no plans to change our current relationship."
