Reading this article explains the need for offensive action by the US. Iraq is only a battle in the war against terrorism - a major battle - and the tide is turning in our favor thanks to the fortitude of President Bush and our allies and the excellence of our military.
Re: Pentagon considers a hit before buildup From Lonesome in Massachussets | 2002-09-10 20:25:21 replied Military doctrine dictates that causulaties are inversely proportional to disparity in force. If you and ten friends are engaged in a fight with 10 other guys would you rather take them on 10 at once or one at a time? Same thing holds true when the numbers are larger and the forces are asymmetrical. Large forces suffer smaller losses.
You sure sound like you know what you are talking about. My understanding is that the smaller/rapid action forces would give less of a target for WMD than massed troops. If I have ten guys, close together, one grenade can take them out. With 100,000 one scud could do the same. Do you know how the Allies effectively dealt with gas attacks in WWI? Did they disperse their troops or just put on masks or what? How did the Iranians deal with Saddam's gas attacks? .
