  • MICHELLE: Barack 'Has Dragged Me Kicking and Screaming Into Things that I Wanted No Parts Of'

Michelle’s Princeton essay was a harbinger of things to come, and perhaps sheds some light on her troubles with the speech in China:

“Webster’s Dictionary of English offers several key synonyms for “comfort”, some of which are ease, pleasure, and enjoyment. When one speaks of being “comfortable with”someone or something, one often thinks of environments which promote feelings of ease and with which one is familiar, such as being in one’s own home or with one’s family and close friends. More often than not, one finds comfort in things with which one is familiar rather than in unfamiliar things. It is also more likely that one is more attached to to things with which one is familiar than to things with which one is unfamiliar”

I’m guessing that she was not comfortable giving her speech. it was definitely not a familiar thing, but rather a thing that was unfamiliar to which she was not attached — something, perhaps, that Obama dragged her kicking and screaming into doing because he wanted to take her China trip off on his 2014 taxes as an expense.

Here’s something that always helps me and maybe it will work for you, too.

Think of a time in the future when all of your current troubles are behind you. The divorce is over with and you have been left enough money to support yourself. You can see now that you’re going to be OK. Whenever you’re downhearted, think about that picture of yourself in the future, with everything getting better, the bad times over.

Work a little harder and longer and smarter at your job and see if you can find extra pleasure in what you do well. Remember and treasure every compliment you ever got, every friendship you ever made. Remember challenges of the past that you’ve successfully overcome. Review your strengths and remember good times ... look forward to more good times.

Four words to keep firmly in mind when life gets hard, as it does for all of us: This, too, shall pass.

This seems strange since the APS has been pushing the idea of global warming for years. I guess they’ve had some heads-ups from physicists who think it’s the bunk and maybe even cancelled their memberships, so now they’re going to take a stab at being evenhanded and consider the facts. We’ll wait and see if it comes to anything ... objective and rational.

After reviewing the reviews on the development that you linked to, I think maybe anybody without a gun who lives there should buy one and learn how to use it. That is one dangerous place, according to the residents. And NOT, I think, because of upright citizens who have guns but because of thugs in the neighborhood and because management does not thoroughly investigate would-be renters.

Check the covenants. The HOA may have passed this rule on their own, and how are they going to enforce it? Sounds like a slate of HOA officers who have become too big for their britches. Most states limit HOAs in what they can do, esp. if their rules go against state/county/municipal law. I’d keep my gun, if I lived there, and dare them to do anything about it. Are they going to get SWAT teams in and search everybody’s house and car? I don’t think so.Not only that, but a big sign “this development is gun-free” wd get some attention from thugs in the area. Not good. Must be a rumor, only a rumor.

“We pay, we send reporters. She pays, she has privacy.”

Well said. Her desire for privacy makes you wonder what her problem is after all these years of chasing the limelight. This woman is not a shy little flower. What’s the problem? Does she think reporters will talk bad about her behind her back? Well, suppose they do — what is she, some sort of sacrosanct royal?

Jimmah was a governor. He, at least, had had executive experience.Don’t know about Hoover. I think we need more people with broad experience in their fields — people who know people and can work with them effectively, and can judge their capabilities, decide what’s needed and figure a path to get there. Anyhow, Obama hasn’t come up with a single useful idea of his own for the economy, race relations, getting people better and cheaper healthcare or finding them employment. He’s just an old-school socialist. Nothing new there.

Not, I think, very nutritious food for thought. Here’s a different thought: People with their hands in each other’s pockets are not going to take them out to shoot and kill each other. The developed nations are now too interconnected economically to start wars. Plus, do you really think bankers and politicians want people to die in war so they can enrich themselves? How low is your opinion of these people? This is like the theory that there’s a cure for cancer but medical science is hiding it because there’s SO much money to be made treating cancer. No.

A Democrat I know voted for him because Obama was completely out of the mainstream of politics — could “think outside of the box”! His lack of experience would lead him to new and wonderful solutions for the problems in the USA. I pointed out that I had never had any political experience, either, nor run any big important enterprise. All I ever did was vote. Did that mean I’d make a great president full of wonderful new ideas and solutions? He kinda hemmed and hawed, didn’t answer. Just gave me a sickly smile. It was the dopiest explanation ever for voting (TWICE) for the guy that I’ve ever heard so far... I bet no Freeper ever heard a dumber one than that.

This is a bad idea if the military has to pay for the operations/drugs that bring about the trans. If somebody signs up with everything already in place (or gone) and is indistinguishable physically and emotionally from normal people of the chosen sex, maybe it could work under a don’t ask-don’t tell rule (and why would a recruit tell anyone she didn’t start out as a woman but was once a man?). The remaining problem would be the preexisting medical condition: The trans will have to take hormones for the rest of his or her life to maintain the chosen sex and that could be difficult under battlefield conditions. Surely wiser heads will prevail and transgender will be designated as a medical condition like severe asthma or type 1 diabetes, precluding a career in the Armed Forces.

An excellent way for Congressional Dems and Obama to raise awareness of Global Climate Change is for Obama to write another executive order (like the one about the new minimum wage): “The Federal workforce will reduce its carbon footprint by: 1. reducing work-related air or train travel by half as compared with the previous year; reducing work-related automobile travel by half when the distance traveled exceeds 5 miles and exchanging automobile travel for bike use when work-related travel is 5 miles or less. In addition, all Federal workplaces will set their thermostats at 80 degrees F in summer and 60 degrees F. in winter.
