The One just cracked open the door, Romney or Gingrich need kick it open. WHO gave you and Michelle an education? Somebody? Really? Who? We’ve never heard the story. Tell us won’t you? Was the somebody that GAVE you an education born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth? Maybe a royal spoon? We don’t know of whom you speak. Sounds like a wonderful story. PLEASE tell us the details. Was it a man or woman? An individual or family? He talked about someone should insist to hear about that person.

No one (including myself) could figure out why in the world we were sending 100 troops into Uganda. Especially right after the unconstitutional use of our troops in Libya. It seems the pieces are lining up.

I think this played a huge part into why troops were sent into Uganda. I think someone saw the Invisible Children thing as an opportunity and political expediency.

IF I were to put forward a conspiracy theory, mine would look something like this:

Obama has been struggling with the youth vote. Kony2012 pretty much promoted Obama as a hero for sending in these troops. This video has gone viral through what avenues and among what age groups? The avenue is twitter and Facebook rallying primarily (or initially) college age “the youth vote.” My conspiracy theory would say Kony is captured or killed around September or October 2012. What a way to rally the youth vote.

Who has access to all of the sign ups that are happening through the IC website? I have no idea, there isn’t a privacy statement stating who has or who will have access to this information. IC may be completely genuine in their intentions and motivations. But that doesn’t mean those around them (in the political sphere) have the same motivations. You can have a good heart but still be naive to think everyone that is helping you shares your compassion.

IC is a good emotional film. But it is not lacking in politics. It appears to be apolitical but it is not. I’m no Romney supporter (if he or Santorum gets the GOP nomination I’m probably voting Gary Johnson) but watch the film again. It has only the highest praise for the current president. Then they talk about crossing political bridges and whatnot. While talking about this they show a Romney sign and for some reason (because this isn’t supposed to be a political film) it flashes “Flip-Flopper” across the sign. Really? Romney is a flip-flopper but what does that have ANYTHING to do with Uganda, Kony or their viral campaign. Why is that in this movie? That was a HUGE red light for me and made question (if not IC’s motivations) the motivations of those advising them. And there are $45 million tax payer dollars going to their cause. A small price to pay for the biggest viral video in history.

I would suggest this is more guerrilla marketing than viral video. Viral video suggests something organic. I’m pretty certain Rebecca Black didn’t have a $9 million dollar budget in 2011 and legislation providing her with an additional $45 million dollars in 2012.

I’m just really shocked about this.

The conspiracy theorists in me asks, is this to control the news cycle on the day Arpaio has set for his press conference? Is this coincidental two weeks after announcing he has college video of the one and on the same day as this press conference? It’s so shocking and such a huge loss we know Andrew will receive the headlines not whatever Arpaio announces.

I don’t know. What a freakin’ loss. I’m just stunned right now with all of these things running through my head. I mean 43 years old. I know it happens but I also know that it doesn’t. I just don’t know what to think.

I feel for his family, friends and staff. He will be missed. His boldness will be missed.

  • Ron Paul’s Absurd ‘Golden Rule’

OK. I’m trying to figure out the point if this article. The author condemns Ron Paul and lays out a historical argument against Islam. This article is completely and utterly irrational in its argument. If not in the argument definitely in its lack of a conclusion.

What are we to conclude from this article or what is the author proposing? He cites Jefferson’s and Adam’s dealings with Islam. OK, thanks. Then suggests that Ron Paul (ie. the reader) read the passages taken from the Koran. OK, thanks again. Then a reference from a leading Egyptian scholar from the 50’s and 60’s. OK.

The author offers all of these historically documented instances and the impossibilities of dealing with Islam and Muslims but proffers nothing on what all of this means with regard to foreign policy. Should we stay in Afghanistan and do what we’re doing? Is he proposing we do unto others what we think they are trying to do to us? Is the argument that Islam at its core and that every muslim is wanting and willing to wage war at any cost, at anytime and in anyplace? If that is indeed where his argument points us, what does he propose? Waging war on all muslims in every part of the world no matter the cost because that’s what he thinks they want and are trying to do to us. I just don’t get where he is going with this.

If he was serious about looking at this from a historical perspective then he wouldn’t be proposing taking it to the muslims, at this point he should be asking what the hell are we still doing in the muslim world trying to reform it?

We don’t live in the muslim world. If we were serious about stopping this stuff it’s really not that hard. We (our military) come home, the terrorists stay there. If we think so and so is sending terrorists here, then don’t let them on a plane to come here. What are they going to do row here? If someone from so and so country has business to conduct, then do it over the phone or internet. If you’re legitimate, sorry, until you and your country get your affairs in order, no entry. You’re losing money by not being able to come to the U.S., sorry. Effect change at home to earn the privilege of coming here. No one has an inherent right to travel here. We need to govern ourselves and let them govern themselves. If they CHOOSE to let extreme religious beliefs guide them, fine, but we choose to not have it affect us. If and when we are serious we can get serious really quickly. We just have to have the will to do it. Is it “fair?” No. Is it fair that some would choose perpetuate terror? No. Do we need to change course? Yes.

To be charitable, Klein is offering nothing more than hyperbole regarding the golden rule statement from Paul.

I understand your sentiment but to address the premise of your statement. Not to burst your bubble but we do not and can not “save” anyone. You don’t save people by sitting in church or getting your hands dirty. ONLY God can bring anyone to himself.

Without his calling to us, his reaching down to us; we can do nothing. So it is God alone that saves. Sure we can be an example of God’s love. God might use us as an instrument. But we can no more save anyone or bring them to God then we can ourselves walk on water.

It’s actually a great relief knowing God is in control. Image bearing the burden of “having” to save people or even possessing the “ability” to save people. There’s not a human being apart from Jesus himself that has ever or will ever be able to “save” anyone from eternal damnation.

I’m not saying this guy is right or wrong. I am saying that only God can save. Only God can heal. Only God can bring someone to himself. It’s not our place to condemn, condone or be apathetic. That’s the hard thing and the great thing about the God we serve. Ultimately, we must rely on our Faith in Him.

Share your faith. Because you don’t know God’s plan of who, where or when. But don’t share your faith because YOU don’t know.

    We don’t have the answers.

“from a piece of his clothing previously smuggled out of the compound.”

I thought O made the “gutsy” call not knowing for sure OBL was in the compound? Now we had someone on the inside that was smuggling out clothing?

We saw someone, through surveillance, walking circles in the courtyard and walking circles in the room. Observed from a safehouse within range of the “OBL” compound.

We reallocated money to the surveillance operation said to be one of the most extensive and expensive surveillance jobs ever undertaken. It was reported that no photos or audio exists from the operation. Not that they are sealed but that they don’t exist.

Now we have items being “smuggled” out of the compound, by whom? Where’s the smuggler? Who’s the smuggler?

Yeah this story adds up. And they just keep adding and adding to it at will.

Seriously, How are tax cuts expenditures on the bush side but not the obama side. Didn’t Obama “extend” the bush tax cuts (rhetorical)?

Maybe someone should tell WaPo and Klein that these tax rates didn’t expire in 2009 Looking at his handy dandy chart he didn’t carry the “Obama Tax Cuts” through to 2017 as an expenditure.

Are the “writers” so foolish to believe that no one will notice? Or is their readership really foolish enough to believe it? I’m really not sure at this point.

I guess if you just read the headline, glaze over and look at the bright pretty colors you might think it true. We should all be so lucky.

    Doe Eyes,

You need to get a grip on reality. Seriously, did you read your post before posting it. I guess you’re a big advocate of strip searching babies. Really? This is your stance on this?

I think Rep. David Simpson said it pretty well, “Instead of threatening to shut down flights in Texas, why doesn’t the TSA just show us their statutory authority to grope or ogle our private parts.”

How does this legislation, “not ensure the safety of the passengers and crew.”? The legislation would simply keep a check on pat downs and aggressive abusive pat downs in particular. Up until this past year we seemed to being doing pretty good with airline safety. And please don’t bring up the “Christmas Day Bomber.” That story doesn’t hold water and the flight originated outside the US. Our domestic record has been pretty good without this federal overreach.

I say pass it. How in the world could the federal government justify shutting down all flights in and out of Texas? If they did wouldn’t that be an admission of failure for the past nine years post 9/11? The federal government increased security checks. Then formed the massive bureaucracy known as the TSA. The TSA put in place security checks and procedures to keep “us” safe. Now all of the sudden if they can’t touch your junk we’re not safe and no planes can takeoff or land in the State of Texas. Are you kidding me?

“The...bill...relates to the punishment for the offense of official oppression by the intrusive touching of persons seeking access to public buildings and transportation.” http://tinyurl.com/3ts33d7 or preview http://preview.tinyurl.com/3ts33d7

They can still scan your bag. They can still remove everything from your bag. They can still wand your person. They can make you take off your shoes. They can make you throw away your bottle of water, diet coke or how coffee. They can confiscate your toe nail clippers and your clippings for that matter.

Does “intrusive touching” by a federal employee really make you feel more comfortable traveling to and from Texas? Not an officer of the law, a federal employee. I don’t know anyone that meets their mailman, a federal employee, at the mailbox to be intrusively touched so that they would feel more secure in opening and reading their mail. I think maybe the federal employees at the DMV should think about incorporating these policies. If you’re going to stand in line for two hours to be treated rudely you might as well get some intrusive touching.
