I took your suggestion & watched the video of “The March of the Ten Thousand.” That prompted me to purchase & read the Landmark Series book, “Xenophon’s Anabasis.”
Now I am just starting the Landmark Series book, “Arrian’s -The Campaigns of Alexander.”
I’ve written down your suggestion & I’ll definitely look into that. In my opinion, there’s nothing better than reading first-hand accounts and if that’s not feasible, then by an author who has close connections with that person/event from living in that period & hearing the stories.
I inadvertently omitted in my prior comment that I was channel surfing what our DISH had on the schedule that Sunday evening.
If I lay in bed in the evening & watch TV and the program keeps me awake then it had to be good imho.
I was channel surfing this past Sunday evening & by chance I stumbled upon one of these “Bonus Channels” they offer and in the History section was this documentary on Alexander. I thought I’d give it a try. I never fell asleep until it ended.

Big history buff here and I’m just now getting into this part of the world. I finished reading “Persians - The Age of the Great Kings.” Now after watching a documentary on Alexander the Great, I had to order a book about him.
History is fascinating.
