The issues with using CNG (extremely high pressure) and LNG (cryogenic temperatures) are safety. I have worked directly with both and can attest to their unsuitability for daily passenger vehicle use.

Has a lot to do with the grade of oil and our capacity to refine it. Also, our political climate over the last few decades has made it prohibitively expensive to improve, upgrade and continue upkeep on our existing refineries, let alone building new ones.
