Well, for starters, it means that all the timetables you've heard about for the last decade were just rendered inoperative and the world just found out that Iran is much further along than my favorite people, 'the smartest guys in the room' believed. I'll leave the details of the physics to those that want to go down that rathole, and explain it in everyday automotive terms. Your mission is to go from point A to point B over land at up 20 miles an hour. Yes, you're in the 21st century, and have everything the world produces at your disposal...

Well, it seems as though we've screwed the pooch. It's a safe bet that about 99% of the American public do not realize that what is about to happen will forever change the way they live and how they interact with the higher functions of society. In other words, how they will acquire and use any product or service that they can not provide immediately for themselves and their family. Most people have heard of Black Holes - a favorite mega-disaster staple in SiFi movies and stories. Not so many are aware of the term, "Event Horizon". The event horizon...

The United States of America has a combined services military staffed with our best and brightest men and women that is the most powerful on earth - by any quantifiable measure. That military and the men and women serving and having served stood an unbroken line since 1776 and have protected and defended this country against all threats for two hundred and thirty five years. No other country on this earth has that ability, and none have the economic wherewithall to build and maintain those military assets on a scale to match it. Our CV and CVN battle groups, our...

Great news, folks! Jim Graham is running for Congress in the 17th district of Ohio - a seat currently held by Tim Ryan (D). Ryan is a very liberal democrat, a close ally of Pelosi and voted for ObamaCare, Cap and Tax, and every bailout and stimulis that his (former?) girlfriend's mother told him to. That's right - he dated Pelosi's daughter. This is also the same seat (OH-17) that Jim ("Beam me up, Scotty!") Trafficant held until he was convicted and sent to jail. Jim Graham is making a race out of it - Ryan is showing less than...

Dear Senators and Congressmen, Today I am sending you this letter in support of government run, single payer universal health care. I have been enjoying the template for the new government plan for a little over forty (40) years now. Let me explain myself a little here. I was injured while on active duty in the US Army in 1966. I sustained damage to my right knee and was operated on by Army doctors at a stateside medical facility. At the time and by the doctor that did the operation, I was told that I would need another operation because...

Probably the most amazing thing about this new "Information Age" that we have now lived in for, oh, about 20 years now give or take, is that we can know more than we want to about anything at all, without ever wanting to. Today, for example, people, everywhere - learned that a member of the Supreme Court is a Homophobe. His Honor Justice Anton Scalia has been branded as such by a siting Member of Congress - a 28 year member, no less. This is a very serious charge and it is fortunate that the accused is in a position...

Every man reaches a Milestone, usually at some point in their 40's, that forever impacts their physical, physcological, and emotional state of being. It causes one to examine closely where they are, how they got there, where they may be going, and how they see the world. The sapling in the front yard, planted when you were eight, suddenly becomes a tree. Almost overnight. You look around and you have kids - and they are speaking in full sentences even though they still do not make any sense. Your mind is still working on that paradox when you notice the...

Once upon a time when I was very young, my father and I lay outside on the banks of Lake erie late one hot summer night. Not one manmade light could be seen as far as the eye could see. But there were lights. Oh, were there lights! Untold millions of them! I had never seen anything like it before in my young life. I saw the Milky Way like a glorious, twinkly rainbow cutting a huge swath across the entire sky, from horizon to horizon. I saw the wonders of the universe that night. A night that no matter...

In economics, none of the experts can tell us when we slip into a recession, or when a recession further slides into depression. Only after a fiscal quarter or two has passed can they look back and declare with certitude that we have transitioned into the economic doldrums. So it is with this election, and our Republic. With the possible exception of Mr. Greenspan, personalities are not a real factor in the economic determining process. But now, the sitting President of the United States has proclaimed that his Veep’s battle should rage on past the January 20th date certain for the ...

Crossed Lines and the Attorney GeneralToday, Saturday November 18, 2000 is a day that many people are going to remember for a long time to come. Because today, their lines were crossed. Each person has a place where they draw the line. On one side - the safe side, everything is outwardly normal, and this election disaster doesn’t effect them personally. On the other side of that line lies danger, and it is a very scary, uncertain place to be. Today, many people ventured across that line. More and more people are realizing that this country is being hijacked, right ...

November 7th, 2000 – The Election At The End of the 20th CenturyWill You Accept Your Constitutional Responsibilities? You have a lot to think about. Tomorrow, you and millions of other citizens are going to go to your local polling station and exercise one of the most incredible acts a free person can commit. You will have a voice in deciding what form of government you and your children are going to live under for the rest of the coming new century. Over two hundred years ago a small band of radicals joined together and fought against seemingly insurmountable odds, risking ...

Yesterday I forwarded a link to an article on the Forum to my sister. She is a teacher in the Cleveland Public School system. The linked article was one about the gay/lesbian agenda in the Mass. public school system.Because she has three little girls, 11, 9, and 7, and is an elementary school teacher, naturally I thought she would be interested in the contents.I forwarded the article to her CPS email account through my AOL account, which sends articles as links to the site hosting the particular article if interest. Later yesterday she replied by email, stating that she tried ...

Like most FReepers, I find that I can get this machine, and the Forum, to do pretty much what I want it to do, on any given day. However, I don't have a clue as to HOW it, or the Forum works. I'm talking about the code, or the billions of zeros and ones that make up the instructions that allow FreeRepublic to appear on our monitors. The reason this has been on my mind is because of the earlier thread about the poster that apparently attempted to crash other posters' computers by posting some malicious code that if downloaded, would ...
