Ben Carson is the 'favorite' to take a major position in Donald Trump's cabinet

Dr. Ben Carson is the favorite to be nominated as Donald Trump's Secretary for Health and Human Services (HHS) in the battle for a spot in his cabinet, multiple people familiar with the selection process tell DailyMail.com.

The 73-year-old retired neurosurgeon wants to return to the White House for a second stint after serving as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Trump's first administration.

Carson was one of the few people who stayed in Trump's orbit and said deserved the chance to be re-elected after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot sparked a slew of resignations and defections.

Agreed. For HHS I'd like to see Florida's Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo.

If I understand it correctly, the state surgeon general position is more like the federal NIH position than the federal surgeon general position (which is little more than a figurehead, if I understand it correctly). IMHO, Dr. Carson doesn't have the feisty character needed to clean house at the NIH like Dr. Ladapo seems to have.

He’s a brain surgeon and his brother is a rocket scientist. When they were kids, in the summer, their mom would make them read a book. Then, write a book report on it. They’d get the report from her with sentences underlined and a few stars here and there.

It wasn’t until years later they found out she was illiterate and she just wanted to spark interest.

So, did she just put stars on the sentences she thought looked extra special? How would she know? Seriously though, I really do admire her for motivating her sons to such great achievement.

I asked myself that question. If I remember correctly, she’d underline a sentence and ask one oh them a question like “why did you write this sentence, where in the book did you read this?” A mothers love for her children.
