I didn't find the focus of this story to be bashing Christians, I highly doubt these kids were saying Merry Christmas to a group of Jewish students to be nice, I think they wanted to pick a fight. There were TEN of them riding the subway late on a Friday night.

What's being focused on in the more recent stories is that a Muslim came to the aid of Jews. Not that this should be surprising to anyone, all involved were college students and presumably good citizens, but it makes for nice headlines at Christmastime when we are hoping to see evidence of peace and goodwill towards everyone, and all that.

They also have a “taxpayer funded” Chrisitan group.

What’s the difference?

PS: I didn't post "spin", I posted the truth, the reason he recieved the military ceremony he did - it wasn't for him it was in case there were military remains in there too.

Something not one person has acknowledged in this thread.

I sure hope you didn't actually write the letters that were the topic of this thread...or maybe some of you did and recieved the same response I posted?

i hear CIA rumours and in fact his brother was killed because they THOUGHT he was a spy...maybe he was?

This Will Teach Me To Move A Little Slower

Recently I wrote a post about Howard Dean's brother receiving military honors that he did not receive. While he still received those honors which he still has not earned, it turns out that the honor guard was present with the remains for a reason:

Though Charlie Dean and his friend were civilians, they were given military honors, officials said, on the chance that the remains include those of service members missing in the Vietnam War.

"We don't know who we have until the lab says who we have," said Lt. Col. Gerald O'Hara, a spokesman for the Joint P.O.W./M.I.A. Accounting Command, which runs the international recovery missions and the forensic laboratory here. "Ninety-eight percent of the missing from this war were service members. We're treating everyone as if they could be a service member."

I feel bad for jumping to a conclusion before taking the time to learn the entire story. While I still find it suspicious that the identification of these particular remains are being "fast tracked," as stated in the article I previously quoted from, it is clear that something is going on here that is not being reported. I would like to make clear that at this time I do not feel that Howard Dean had anything to do with the way his brother's remains were handled. I am also going to refrain from further comment about this topic until more information arises.

Its not easy for me to admit a mistake, but when I make one I want it known that I will admit to it and take full responsibility.

Umm, before you start firing off e-mails, you might want to know that:

1. Two servicemen's remains came on that same plane, I assume you'll think it's OK for them to get the full treatment?

2. There is a good possibility that some remains of servicemen are mixed in with those of Mr. Dean - better safe than sorry was the military's thinking, I've read.

3. At least reporters were alloed at this "homecoming", which of course is not the case with our fallen men and women coming home from Iraq.
