Today, I stopped caring about my fellow man. I stopped caring about my community, my neighbors, and those I serve. I stopped caring today because a once noble profession has become despised, hated, distrusted, and mostly unwanted.

I stopped caring today because parents refuse to teach their kids right from wrong and blame us when they are caught breaking the law. I stopped caring today because parents tell their little kids to be good or “the police will take you away” embedding a fear from year one. Moms hate us in their schools because we frighten them and remind them of the evil that lurks in the world.

They would rather we stay unseen, but close by if needed, but readily available to “fix their kid.” I stopped caring today because we work to keep our streets safe from mayhem in the form of reckless, drunk, high, or speeding drivers, only to be hated for it, yet hated even more because we didn’t catch the drunk before he killed someone they may know.

Nevertheless, we are just another tool used by government to generate “revenue.” I stopped caring today because Liberals hate the police as we carry guns, scare kids, and take away their drugs. We always kill innocent people with unjust violence. We are called bullies for using a Taser during a fight, but are condemned further for not first tasing the guy who pulls a gun on us.

And if we do have to shoot, we are asked “why didn’t you just shoot the gun out of their hand?” And when one of us is killed by the countless attacks that do happen (but are rarely reported in the mainstream media) the haters say, “Its just part of the job.” I stopped caring today because Conservatives hate us as we are “the Government.” We try to take away their guns, freedoms, and liberty at every turn.

We represent a “Police State” where “jackbooted badge-wearing thugs” randomly attack innocent people without cause or concern for constitutional rights. We are Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Rodney King all rolled into one lone police officer stopping to help change an old lady’s tire. I stopped caring today as no one wants us around, but instantly demands answers, results, arrests, when a crime takes place.

If a crime isn’t solved within the allocated 60 minutes it takes CSI on television, we are inept, incompetent, or covering something up. If we do get “lucky” it was just that and everyone with a Facebook account can post wonderful comments of how “they” would solve the case and how “we” are not nearly as clever.

I stopped caring today because a video of a cop six states away, from a department that you never heard of, screws up and forgets his oath of honor, thus firing up an internet lynch-mob of cop haters even though 99% of us work twice as hard not to end up in the news and to still be “the good guys.” We are “militarized” because we wear body armor and kevlar helmets when shots are fired or rocks thrown at us and carry scary looking rifles even though everyone knows that they are easier to shoot and are more accurate than a handgun or a shotgun.

I stopped caring today because the culture of today’s instantly connected youth is only there to take and never give back. To never accept responsibility for ones actions, but to blame everyone else instead of themselves. To ask “what is in it for me?” versus “what can I do for you?”

To idolize gangsters, thugs, sexually promiscuous behavior, and criminals over hard work, dedication, and achievement. To argue that getting stoned should be a right, yet getting a job or an education is a hassle. To steal verus earn. To hate versus help. Yes, I stopped caring today. But tomorrow, I will put my uniform back on and I will care again

There is this story about two old fellows arguing about believing in God. There is no God, prove to me there is a God, says one of the fellows. Well now I’m not sure I can do that says the other fellow, you see, I believe in the almighty and feel very good about it, but I’m rather simple minded and can’t explain all things. I just know that when I die God will have someone at the gate waiting for me and I’ll see all my family again and oh what a time that will be. If there is no God that will be ok because I’ve had a good life, loved my family and my neighbor too. Now when you die and there is no God I guess we’ll hear you laughing at all us old fogies. But then again when you die and there is a God and he is at the gate, what are you going to tell him?

What happened to “ NO NEGOTIATIONS WITH TERRORIST?”

I can see that we are a segregated nation and becoming a caste it seems. I am just a simple public servant with a degree and a dangerous job without thanks from either side. The lLibs don’t want to be Policed and now the conservatives doubt us and ridicule my profession.

I see people teach their children to fear us daily, there goes that mean ole Policeman he will lock you up! I hope that parent doesn’t find his child in need of one of us simple public servants and that his fear instilled by his father does not cause him to not come to me so I can save his life.. That would be so sad, but choices are made and people must live by there decisions.

I really thought this was a conservative forum that would support the good guys but apparently we aren’t considered so here either. You sit there safe in you abode and don’t worry where I am on the holidays or late at night while you sleep. I’ll be fine because I am the rough man who stands at ready to protect and serve. Deagle, Politicians are after your money, we don’t get it or take it from you. Root cause analysis that’s who takes your money and dictates that we administer citations or other penance that take your money. Root cause is that you commit an act that is against a law that was placed into state law or local that you violate and are caught breaking. Now imagine that the law goes up the chain into drugs and theft and many other crimes all with the same impact and all with a penance. Say if someone kidnapped your loved one and I told you that with some unauthorized method I could save them, would it bother you if I set a trap for this criminal? I doubt it.
The worst thing in law enforcement is someone that who is generally law abiding paying a fine that they know they committed the crime and begrudge being caught and having to pay.
So, no law breaking, no worries, you give little credence to your objections other than, don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time .

Yes you have the right to refuse a request to search . You have that right . Now if you have contraband in plain sight or if you admit to contraband or if a dog gets a hit conformation your consent is not necessary. A law enforcement officer also may not ask for search consent until he has returned your DL or written your citation and released you from coercion before asking for consent to search . Oh yeah I am a sworn officer and we are not going to waste our time on someone unless their actions raise the red flag or we think something is criminal in nature..

Here I am sitting in a patrol car on duty and I have to read this post of yours and wonder just what you have to be afraid of? I have worked twenty years and still can’t figure out what an honest citizen has to worry about if they do nothing wrong. There are to many fish in the sea of crime for me to devote time to an honest man. What was it my grandfather said. a guilty dog usually barks the loudest ? Just what are you afraid of? This was an excellent article and accurately describes our profession.

What are you going to do when we give up on society and turn it over to the thugs you support.. What’s that old saying? And then they came for me and who shall I turn too?

Sorry, it’s just that being exposed to so much negativity at work daily and that we are trained to respond with one level higher than encountered, after several of the negative responses of “Why did you post this” it kicks in. Cops are extremely defensive, it’s a matter of survival for us.

I wish that the public really understood the law as it really is and not like TV portrays it. Again an unarmed man report cries foul when read and sells papers, a man about to take away an officers gun is not exciting for them unless that is, the officer is killed by the offender.

I am a Deputy Sheriff and honestly have been working on night shift 12 hours a day this week and had just found the posting while at work between calls. I posted in a hurry and didn’t take time to go through all of the “Proper” pre posting requirements. I apologize for the improper posting of this news item.

I have been following this on other Police Boards and private ones such as Police One, a credible source who had advised the extent of Officer Wilson’s injuries days ago and the media whores refused to acknowledge or report from their sources or briefings.

This was a good shoot by what I have read and I expected the Media and Department to release this information much earlier. The officer received a severe injury, an orbital eye fracture and no one seemed to want to report anything other than the minor reference that he had been struck. This Officer has a major injury and he was just “struck?”.

No one has mentioned that this Officer was acting under duress and still trying to protect society from these Robbers/Thugs and prohibit their furthering this crime spree. This was that officers training kicking in and the assault he already endured was cause enough to stop these thugs with deadly force, armed or not. Not being armed with a gun does not mean they were unarmed and not dangerous, just that they had no weapon at the time. There is also the attempt to take his weapon from him earlier and use it against him already occurring, now here the 6’4” 280# offender returning in a running charge to attempt another try at getting his weapon, this time allowing Big Mike to kill the injured officer and/or others. Didn’t hear all of that in the news did you? What would you do?

The next thing you will hear is that this was long in coming and that counseling is needed for the long term abuses the residents of Ferguson have endured at the hands of racist Police previously and that it’s a mindset and not their fault yada yada yada.

Booker T. Washington warned his brethren that there would be Blacks who would make their living off of the backs of their Brothers, and at what the cost? Where are the Black leaders who should come to the scene and acknowledge the high percentage of crime and the billions of tax dollars spent to educate and elevate the standard of living and elevate the culture of the black community? Where is their demand change! Instead we get the likes of Jackson and Sharpton and others coming and stirring the mud in the bowl and prolonging any chance of reconciliations between the races.

It’s not the color stupid, it’s the lifestyle and culture of crime and degrading of family and morals that I detest..

It’s easy to Monday Morning Quarterback a split second decision made by an Officer with a wide view camera lens and different angles offered by a video taken from distance, but try to relate to what the narrow focus from tunnel vision the body reverts to in a critical incident like this when time slows down and the field of vision restricts your view. it goes on and on and like most another failure of the race baiters.

Sorry if I repeated a story posted here previously and I wonder if it was also from an unreliable source and was chastised too.

I haven’t been on here in a while and now I am beginning to remember why. I’m so sorry I wasted bandwith and took your precious time and that I’m apparently not up to your high standards.
