Cuba Trip Attracts Federal Attention By Sherwood Olin A research trip to Cuba organized by a Maine grass roots organization drew the attention of the federal government on the eve of the group’s departure last week. According to a press release issued by Let Cuba Live, an official from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) contacted the group’s travel agency April 10 with the news the trip did not fall within federal guidelines for a legal visit to the Caribbean island. <p>AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Cigarette taxes are expected to become the No. 3 revenue generator for the state this year and bring in even more than corporate income taxes.</p>
<p>The state's latest revenue forecast shows that taxes on cigarettes and tobacco products are expected to generate about $95 million this fiscal year. Corporate income taxes are projected to be about $90 million.</p>

Man attacks mother after marijuana raid By Associated Press, 5/25/2001 10:19 WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) A Winslow man attacked his mother because he thought she had tipped police off about a marijuana crop, police said. Steve Graf, 25, threatened, pushed and spit on his mother, Carlene Cram, after police raided Graf's home for marijuana. Drug enforcement agents on Tuesday seized dozens of young marijuana plants growing on land across from Graf's home. Anyone have suggestions for avantgo settings so I can read FR on my palm? I currently am linked to www.freerepublic.com/perl/latest but the larger posts don't show up. I'm up to 1 mb download with a thread of 2 It links to a lot of extraneous stuff ie authors home page etc. I've tried just new articles and new posts, but I get file too large to down load errors.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Maine Senate President Michael Michaud wants the state to immediately stop charging sales taxes on bottled water, and he is introducing a bill to clarify the tax shouldn't be charged. ''This attempt by state government to tax bottled water is absolutely outrageous,'' said Michaud, D-East Millinocket.
