  • CONFIRMED: Court Did Rely on Oath Keeper Association to Take Baby

    Ostlandr to Sopater

I have seen this kind of nonsense before, in Montgomery County, NY. The DCFS there was stealing babies from poor parents (the kind who can’t afford a lawyer) and adopting them out to the friends and family of DCFS staff.

As an associate member of Oath Keepers, I am really frightened that the NH DCFS used Oath Keepers as a reason to take the child. Which is obviously the idea; to make people like me run screaming away from Oath Keepers. I ain’t runnin’.

Actually, there will still be drilling in the Gulf. It just won’t be by US or allied interests.

Here’s a March 18 editorial from the Washington Times stating that the Obama administration was already planning to ban drilling on the outer continental shelf before the “accident”: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/mar/18/obama-surrenders-gulf-oil-to-moscow/

The BP announcement of the find was on March 17: “BP PLC announced Wednesday {3/17/2010} that it has discovered a “giant” crude deposit in an ancient rock formation that’s proving to be a new frontier in the search for new sources of energy. This oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico was used to drill the exploration well about 250 miles southeast of Houston. (AP Photo)”

The rig didn’t blow until April 20, over a month after the article was published.

Of course, anybody who thinks that a Cuban or Venezuelan torpedo igniting the rig’s million-gallon fuel oil storage sank the rig is a complete nutjob. Likewise with anybody who thinks that the reason the BOP never activated is because there was never a spike in well pressure.

Apparently Speaker Silver has never heard of the Laffer curve. Sure, he can raise taxes as high as the sky. But no matter how high they raise taxes, revenues will never climb above about 18% of GDP. Raising marginal rates beyond that simply results in the government collecting taxes on a smaller GDP.

Based on my understanding of economics, there is a tipping point beyond which raising taxes results in less revenue to the treasury. New York passed this point years ago. A 1% tax cut, with spending reined in to that level, would most likely result in a 2%-3% increase in GDP, and a resulting increase in revenue.

There is also a tipping point at the other end of the scale, where if essential government services such as police and roads no longer exist, then that also strangles the economy. And bizarre as it may seem, New York is reaching this point also, by diverting revenue from these core areas to social welfare.

Okay, let’s say for the sake of argument that every stereotype you’ve used about the US military, the US soldier, and gays is 100% correct.

First, how many stereotypical gay men would actually choose a career in the army, even if they could serve openly? Of that number, how many would choose to enter the combat arms, and of that number, how many would choose the Infantry?
And of the few gays who ended up in the Infantry, how many of them would be stupid enough (given the stereotypical US soldier’s attitude towards gays) to make a pass at a straight fellow soldier? The first time it happened, they’d be the guest of honor at a “blanket party” or some similar punishment. As you said, “Soldiers will take action on their own.” Problem solved.

And as to gay women, the stereotypical “butch” homosexual female would be far better suited to military duty than the average heterosexual female, and be far less of a distraction when serving alongside men.

As to gays and their filthy diseases, doesn’t everybody who joins the service get a full medical workup?

Your post contradicts itself. First, you complain about the “homophobia crap”, then use some pretty hateful language. And since when are “real men” so insecure in their sexual identity that they have to prove it by resorting to gay-bashing?

    {sarc} I can’t imagine how traumatic it would be if a guy looked you over in the shower, told you you were hot, and asked you out. The horror! You’d be scarred for life! {/sarc}

Who do you have more respect for- a “degenerate” who’s been with the same partner for 20 years, or a “real man” who cheats on his wife and has nailed every loose woman in three states?

There are always a few sick people who take pleasure in such horrors,

I’m a hunter, I eat meat, I’ve worked on farms and butchered my own food. I still don’t like killing things, though. The proper way to kill a cow or calf is for a skilled person to use a specially designed sledgehammer- death is instantaneous. Or else cut the poor creature’s throat- they black out as soon as the brain loses blood flow- seconds, not minutes. You can shoot it in the head, but be advised that a .22LR won’t penetrate a cow’s skull.

Such a painful death as depicted in the videos dumps stress hormones into the critter’s bloodstream, and spoils the flavor of the meat (unless you’re a cat.)

They don’t make Politicians like they used to. Example:

“If that is my esteemed colleague’s opinion on the matter, then I would hereby direct him to leave this chamber and promptly perform that singular action which at once obscene and physically impossible.”

No need to be crude about it.

How about we replace “don’t ask, don’t tell” with “don’t give a rat’s posterior?” The only problem I see is if someone is “in the closet” and the threat of being “outed” could be used to blackmail them- that would be a security risk. And that applies to any such secret, not just sexual orientation.

Whenever I hear that gays serving openly would “cause dissent in the ranks, undermine military discipline” etc., I consider that an attack on the character of our men and women in uniform. What, is every soldier a screaming homophobe? That’s the sort of hateful generalization I expect from the Left. It saddens me to see it from the Right as well.

I read the changes proposed to Texas textbooks. I agreed with most of it, but there were a couple points I disagreed with strongly. However, I don’t vote in Texas. It’s up to the Texas electorate, through their representatives, to decide what’s in their kid’s textbooks. I have no say in the matter. Unless we want to set a one-size-fits-all National curriculum, which I’m sure the Left would love.

Hate to get technical, but he was probably shot with an AK-74/AKM. The AK-47 is 7.62mm/.30 cal- makes a BIG hole and does massive hydrostatic shock. The AK-74 (AKM) is 5.56mm - the Americans went to that caliber with the M-16, so the Russians had to copy us. The lighter rounds are designed to wound, not kill- wound a soldier, and you take him out of the fight plus 1 or 2 more to care for him. Also, the higher velocity jacketed round is more likely to pierce a “bulletproof” vest.

True, but that’s not what federal law (as interpreted and enforced) currently says.

Personally, I think full citizenship should be deferred until one has reached the age of majority, and served a tour of duty in either the military or a civilian Community Service organization, as described in the movie version of Heinlein’s “Starship Troopers.”

[sarc]No! No Scandinavians! They’re a violent, “volkish,” cold-blooded race. Some of them aren’t even Christian- they worship false gods. That bloodthirsty race of monsters has carved a trail of blood and sorrow from the Arctic Ocean to the Mediterranean. What do you think Led Zeppelin’s “The Immigrant Song” was about? They would overwhelm our delicately balanced Anglo-Celtic culture. [/sarc]

Seriously, I agree that it would be much better for all concerned if, instead of bringing the population of Mexico to the US, we instead extended the border of the US southward, making the states of Mexico the 51st through 81st states. My point is, even if we offer the valid compromise of only deporting the criminal aliens, the Dems and La Raza (my favorite Hispanic Supremacist group) won’t go for it.

Oh crud. This is NOT good. The Tea Party folks (myself included) are nervous almost to the point of paranoia (and justifiably so.) The Obama regime is nervous because we’re nervous. The whole thing is heterodyning out of control.
It’s bizarre that I feel I need to stock up on Winchester Express silver tips in .30-40 Krag while I still can. A Springfield model 1898 isn’t much of an argument against trained combat troops with automatic weapons. Better than a pike, I suppose.

Okay folks, here’s the deal: Birthright citizenship is the law of the land, per 8 USC 1401 paragraph a. http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/8/1401.html
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthright_citizenship_in_the_United_States_of_America

So like it or not, “anchor babies” are native-born US citizens, and will even be qualified to serve as President after they turn 35. Now, if we deport the parent(s) of a minor child, it is in the child’s best interest not to break up the family. They can come back when they turn 18.

Hmm. . . paragraph d seems to contradict the Birther’s claims. The President’s mom was born in Kansas and spent enough years in the US, so he is a citizen, since he was born after 12/24/1952.

I want all the illegals out of the country, too- that means illegals of every race, creed and color, BTW. But as I said, I’m willing to compromise and only throw the criminal aliens out.

It’s the illegals who are willing to work 70 hours a week for $1.50 an hour (if they even get it)- they don’t dare complain, or the boss blows them in to the INS. They’re treated worse than slaves. If your slave died or was injured, you were out a lot of money- just like with your horse or cow. But the attitude towards illegals is like the old Southern prison work gangs- “one dies, get another.”
A legal immigrant worker can complain to the Labor Department, OSHA, etc. freely, and can tell a bad boss/company to go you-know-where.

And of course I want to close the door to legal immigration when the economy is down. How about we let the Labor Department set the immigration quotas based on unemployment rates by job title? Let in only the workers we need when there’s a shortage.

I like your idea of requiring community service for welfare recipients. Make them work 40 hours for their bread and butter like the rest of us (been on welfare myself btw.) The welfare department motto should be “If you can’t find work, we’ll find it for you.”
