Paul Revere's Ride by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Listen, my children, and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five: Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year. He said to his friend, "If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry-arch Of the North-Church-tower, as a signal-light,-- One if by land, and two if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and...

I was on my way home today when my mom texted me that my dad's next younger brother had died of surgical complications. He was a great guy, took over my granddad's gun business, solid dude all the way. Pulled into the drive wanting to get more info and noticed something awry in the cow lot. The cows are still on hay welfare as it has not warmed up enough to spring the incipient grass up, though they are starting to pick around a bit for something fresh and green. One of my oldest cows, the last full-blood Texas Longhorn...

Some Kansas lawmakers want to stay a step ahead of any new federal gun laws or regulations by reintroducing a bill that would exempt some Kansas-built firearms and accessories from any federal regulation. House Bill 2199, known as the Second Amendment Protection Act, is seen by some as a declaration of states' rights. It is seen by others, including a Wichita firearms manufacturer, as politics as usual.

A recent study has sought to determine by sophisticated new methods whether Khirbet Qumran was home to a Qumran community of sectarian Jews, the Essenes of Qumran. The new study by Eyal Regev of Bar-Ilan University examines the architectural plan of Qumran and applies so-called “access analysis” to map the site’s spatial organization in order to uncover the social ideology of the Essenes of Qumran. Regev characterizes this approach to studying the Qumran community as social archaeology, “now an established field of research which uses archaeological records to reconstruct the belief system and social organization of past societies.”

Here we are- we know how the Book resolves. Love- for neighbors, children, the unborn- and even our enemies wins in the end. Truth and Righteousness are the ultimate victors. I'll fight and advocate until I breathe my last. This was once a great, the greatest of Nations. Losing this election does not make our case any less pure, or right. This country may soon devolve along evident fault lines. The most evident break is rural versus urban. Guess who will eat better.

When Pearl Harbor was attacked an American Democrat President authorized an immediate, heroic response. When the US Libyan Embassy was recently attacked, and the US Ambassador murdered obscenely, the response was somewhat less heroic. Need I say more?

Toured the Cummins Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections last week. The only thing I could relate it to was Angola, LA. The heat and haze was intense as the crews rode out and in on cart trains pulled by a tractor, with 5 armed horseback officers surrounding each 60-70 man detail. 18000 acres of bottom ground, much of which was vegetables that were hand-hoed by these crews to feed the rest of the ADC. Its something you have to see to apprehend.

Kansas City police are investigating an after-school assault during which a teenager was burned when one of his assailants ignited a can of gasoline. The 13-year-old victim told police that two older teens followed him from East High School on Tuesday afternoon to his house in the 2200 block of Quincy Avenue. As he was attempting to unlock the front door, one of the assailants grabbed him in a bear hug, he told police. The second suspect picked up a can of gasoline and said, “This is what you get,” according to police reports. The suspect pulled out a lighter,...

Let's Roll! We're gonna fight it out some more, in-house... Gingrich, Santorum, Paul. Brokered Convention. Anything but Romney. 3rd Party threat if Romney is the nominee... So far, Rubio and Perry have hit home runs at CPAC. Don't know yet what has happened tonight. I sense that the establishment GOP'ers are struggling to wrap their minds around all this. The dems as usual are all over the place- they are a much more disjointed and dysfunctional coalition then we will ever be, mainly because they share no discernable value/faith base. There is a pent-up demand for common sense, decency and...

Topeka — Gov. Sam Brownback on Wednesday called for a cut in the state personal income tax and minimal budget increases, saying that will put Kansas in the fast lane on the road to economic growth. "Let's put our 'lost decade' … in the rear view mirror and speed ahead — at 75 miles per hour — to make this decade the decade of growth and job creation," Brownback, a Republican, said in the State of the State address. But his plan hit immediate bumps from legislators. Brownback's proposal would cancel a scheduled decrease in the state sales tax rate,...

On Monday, during a fundraiser in California, President Obama declared that Europe’s debt problems and their inability to solve them was “scaring the world.” He went on to explain that Europeans “have not fully healed from the crisis back in 2007 and never fully dealt with the challenges that their banking system faced” and that “they’re trying to take responsible actions, but those actions haven’t been quite as quick as they need to be.” This of course is coming from a President who has done nothing to deal with our own country’s enormous debt crisis and who is in fact...
