Go to the Eliquis web site by Bristol Myers. Are you on commercial insurance? If yes, apply for ongoing copay support through their program. Are you on Medicare? If yes, you can look at their free goods / patient assistance program. Works for Part D patients if you meet certain income criteria. If approved they will ship the Eliquis to you. You just need to reapply annually. Also if on Medicare Part D, there are insurance changes coming in 2025 and beyond to cap out of pocket expenses at $2000 annually and allow you to smooth them out over 12 months. Again you’ll need to apply annually. CMS is also expanding the Low Income Subsidy. Start with the Eliquis site. Lots of assistance is out there.

Being in the industry, a few things that will happen: 1 - new drug development ceases. The investment into developing specialty drugs is staggering in time, effort and dollars. 2 - pull out from government contracts including 340B, DOD/Tricare, Medicare, etc. 3 - layoffs resulting from 1 and 2. 4 - long court cases as this gets flushed out with oddly enough no short term relief at all for patients as you can’t just switch from one manufacturing site to another. So many supply chain implications, active pharmaceutical purchasing agreements, facility and equipment qualification, distribution agreements, etc. if they would just STOP and reform PBMs it would have an immediate impact. Today they hold Pharma hostage by threatening to not recommend drugs for formulary placement unless they are paid rebates. Follow Drug Channels and Adam Fein to chase the money. A Pharma company sells drug X for $200 and by the time it gets through the supply chain and PBMs that same drug is now $6000. There is more wrong than just Pharma list pricing.

This is 100% true. Each store has a certain number of vaccines and screenings that they must get each month. As a result there is little time to be consultative, do minor compounding and even do fills. That why you are so many pharmacy technicians doing more and more of the work. Don’t forget the big three pharmacies just recently started giving their pharmacists a half hour lunch break. Throw in inventory, receiving and stocking the pharmacy and there is absolutely room for dispense error.
