Two Air Force planes from Whiteman clipped each other Wednesday afternoon over Cannon Gunnery Range in south central Missouri. They both returned safely to the base and neither pilot was injured. The A-10 Thunderbolt IIs were flying a routine training mission when the incident happened. Planes fly over Cannon Gunnery Range on a daily basis. Minor damage was reported on both planes. Until the inspection is complete, no one is aware of the cost to repair the planes. "[The] planes will eventually be able to fly again," said Lt. Brian Bowman from Whiteman. Kansas City police arrested a man early this afternoon they believe to be involved in the shooting death of a grade-school boy and the wounding of the boy's mother. The man was arrested about 1:15 p.m. as he sat in a white Jeep Cherokee outside Don's Liquors at 3000 Southwest Blvd. The boy, a student at St. James School in Liberty, was shot in the parking lot outside his school shortly after noon today following an apparent argument between the mother and the man, believed to be the boy's father.
