An image posted on Facebook, Reddit, 4Chan, and Twitter (a.k.a., the usual suspects) this weekend claimed to be of the “PIPE BOMBER SUSPECT pictured last year” during “a banquet and [had] a photo OP with a Democrat Donor/Supporter.”

James Thomas, an assistant professor of sociology at Ole Miss, tweeted on October 6, “Don’t just interrupt a Senator’s meal, y’all. Put your whole fingers in their salads. Take their apps and distribute them to the other diners. Bring boxes and take their food home with you on the way out. They don’t deserve your civility.”

A 20-year-old woman was charged with spitting on an off-duty Chicago Police officer outside a City Council meeting last month where demonstrators rallying against the construction of a new police training academy clashed with members of the Fraternal Order of Police who were staging their own protest. On May 23, Penny Hawthorne walked up to the officer and started yelling “vulgarities” at him, according to Chicago Police. She continued the tirade while walking alongside him and then spat on his left cheek.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — For Iran, the so-called “Axis of Evil” has boiled down to a party of one, as President Donald Trump prepares for direct talks with North Korea. With Saddam Hussein overthrown and Kim Jong Un now preparing for a planned meeting in Singapore with Trump, Iran remains the last renegade among former President George W. Bush’s grouping of nations opposed to the U.S. For those in Tehran, whether hard-liners, reformists or people simply trying to get by in Iran’s worsening economy, it’s head-spinning, especially after seeing Trump pull America out of the nuclear deal with world powers.

Newly recovered text messages exchanged by anti-Trump FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page reveal their shock and frustration in the wake of James Comey’s May 2017 firing, as they privately fumed over the news and scrambled to react. The messages were transmitted to congressional committees late Thursday by the Justice Department, after the inspector general announced that his office had recovered previously missing communications over the critical period between Dec. 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017. This covered Comey’s firing and the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) — Thousands of angry students, parents, teachers and neighbors of a Florida high school where 17 people were killed demanded Saturday that immediate action be taken on gun-control legislation, insisting they would not relent until their demands were met.

ROCHESTER, Vt. (AP) — With just three students left attending high school here, junior Kimberly Taylor moves from one empty classroom to the next, taking mostly online classes or studying alone.

Several players from Ole Miss made a trip to Michigan to visit with Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverine football program this past weekend. After the events of the last few weeks – Matt Luke hired as coach, the NCAA sanctions handed down, players stating that they wanted to transfer, etc – I wanted to dig into what all is happening. As I was putting information together for this story, it was announced that Lee Tyner is resigning from his post. On December 7th, I read an article by Brad Logan at Gridiron now, titled “Ole Miss Must Defend Itself –...

When the Eagles visited the Chargers of Los Angeles — previously of San Diego – earlier this season, it was essentially a home game for Philadelphia. Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers said the 26-24 loss to the Birds was "not a home game" because of the overwhelming green majority in the stands. Apparently, FOX is cognizant of this likely happening when the Rams of Los Angeles — previously of St. Louis – play the Eagles on Sunday (barring a wildfire postponement). FOX is doubling down on this game, which features two NFC contenders and fits in the semi-primetime slot of 4:25...

WASHINGTON — One lazy, sultry afternoon in 1947, two years after America helped trounce the Nazis, my father arrived at our family’s modest summer house on the Severn River near the Naval Academy. He had come from his job as a police detective in D.C., still wearing his suit and his service revolver. “Get your shoes on and come with me,” he told my 10-year-old brother, Martin, his Irish lilt edged with a steel that caused his son to scramble. “I have something to do and I want you to see it.” The town, Herald Harbor, Md., had its share...

NOTE: Ole miss is the school of Shep Smith, Thad Cochran, and Trent Lott. OXFORD – More fallout from the NCAA's probe into Ole Miss' football program continued Sunday. Rebel Rags, an Oxford-based retail clothing store specializing in Ole Miss gear, has filed a lawsuit against Mississippi State's Leo Lewis and Kobe Jones, and Lindsey Miller in Lafayette County Circuit Court. Charlie Merkel, one of the attorneys representing Rebel Rags, confirmed the suit was filed Friday afternoon and the servicing process was completed Sunday. Mississippi State had no comment on the situation.

DALLAS (AP) — Vic Schaefer and his Mississippi State Bulldogs didn’t get much time to celebrate what might be the greatest shocker in women’s basketball history. Not when there’s one more game to win, not when there’s a national championship on the line against SEC rival South Carolina.

UConn's record 111-game winning streak came to a startling end when Mississippi State pulled off perhaps the biggest upset in women's basketball history, stunning the Huskies 66-64 on Morgan William's overtime buzzer beater in the national semifinals Friday night.

Roman Polanski will come back to a California courtroom to face the judge over his fugitive status in his child rape case, but only if the judge says in advance that the director served his full time behind bars.

LTG Hal Moore has passed away last night at age 94. He served his country with distinction and valor for over 32 years during the wars in Korea and Vietnam where he was immortalized as a Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) during the week-long Battle of Ia Drang.

This is a place many Cal alumni turn to for news, and I feel there is going to be an annoying narrative hanging in the air today about our campus and our people. In light of yesterday’s events, I want to issue a public service announcement about last night’s protests in Berkeley, because I feel our Golden Bear population deserves the benefit of the doubt. Anarchists from around the Bay Area, NOT Cal students, were the ones who demonstrated violently last night in Berkeley. Utilizing typical black bloc techniques, they hijacked last night’s peaceful student protest of a certain speaker...

The new face of America’s Team is a biracial, tatted-up, whip-smart, unflappable 23-year-old, who in about the time it takes to open the roof at AT&T Stadium went from being a let’s-see-what-the-unheralded-rook-can-do emergency starter to The Man on the NFL’s hottest club. Prescott’s stunning rise (remember, dude was a fourth-round pick whom the Cowboys backed into) has been the talk of the league – and the conversation hasn’t been confined to his success on the field. To even the non-woke, it’s obvious that the Cowboys are in a new place. That means the rest of the NFL is, too.
