That’s true. I may have overstated things a bit just to make a point.
And that runaway slave girl was an interesting case. Most accounts I’ve read said that Martha herself favored the girl a great deal and was totally aggravated that she escaped and badgered her husband to get her back. He took ads out and paid bounty hunters to find her. If I recall this was the only time he extended such efforts to get back a runaway! Thankfully the girl made her escape to freedom! Not a good look, for sure, for GW but in my view it doesn’t rise to any significance in his life story. That was my point…this man had bigger fish to fry in his life. And that’s what should be emphasized.

Frankly speaking, the fact the George Washington owned slaves is a very minor and insignificant aspect of his life or his reason for being honored by our country. I’ve read a lot about our first president and his enslaved people did not play much of a roll in his life. It essentially was background noise. Just part of the environment. That’s not to say that it wasn’t a dreadful situation for the enslaved people living under that situation but it doesn’t have very much to do with why we should be interested in the house he lived in with his wife in Philadelphia. It’s a silly inclusion in the description of this house. Nobody gave it much thought then and we shouldn’t now.

If it's true maybe this guy Jensen is just an effective hit man who followed orders from his old boss and will follow orders of the new boss. A soldier is a soldier.

“Limited exceptions” means exactly what it says. In any judicial ruling having to do with such matters the court must allow for such things.

That’s a ridiculous criticism. Did you understand the argument?
The author made it clear in the whole piece that such a potential deference would only be a very limited exception.
This was an excellent explanation of why our federal behemoth is out of control and what SCOTUS can do to rectify it.
