  • Israel won't recognize Kosovo, for now

Israel is reluctant to recognize Kosovo for two reasons:
    1. it’s own problem with Palestine and Arabs living in Israel,
    2. growing economic relations with Serbia, particularly in fields of telecommunications and military industry.
In fact, the only thing pushing the Israelis into recognition of Kosovo is pressure from the gov. of USA. I have no doubts that Israel will eventually recognize Kosovo, but at least they have the brains to postpone it as long as possible. Otherwise they can hand over their business with Serbia to the Chinese.

The word Taliban is Pashto for "students." The singular, Talib is a loan from the Arabic word for student.

Elected Slobodan Milosevic and then didn't have the common sense to kick him out before he got them bombed.

Right, but here are some facts:
    1. Slobodan Milosevic wasn't elected, but appointed at the time of NATO aggression.
    2. His position has been jeopardized many times, let's just mention March the 9th, '91., spring of '93., fall/winter of '96/'97., April '98., etc. So, once before the shooting actually started, and once during the war itself. And at least two times before Kosovo. I can't remember Tudjman and/or Izetbegovic having a similar experience. Oh yeah, and remember how he got through the '96/'97 crisis? Dick Holbrooke and "factor of peace and stability in the region"?
    3. One man couldn't start a war by himself, nor could one man be an excuse to go to war, regardless how evil or "evil" he is.
    4. Now that you mentioned it, "elected" you say? Like in democracy? IIRC you once said (quoted, actually) "democracies don't wage wars on other democracies". So which shall it be, elected or self-appointed?

The RTS tower, if you'll remember, has the distinction of being one of the targets we notified the Serbs of in advance

By whom? Jamie Shea and his famous nine o'clock hit list?

which is why there have been lawsuits in Serbia where the relatives of the dead have sued the management who were notified of the impending strike but ordered the employees to go to work anyway.

And which were dismissed. I believe they filed one at EU court after that.

Dragoljub Milanovic, the director of RTS during Allied Force, was found guilty by a Serbian district court in 2002 of intentionally placing low-level employees at risk in an effort to increase the number of civilian casualties and discredit NATO.

Not exactly, he was charged with general disregard of safety regulations involving wartime and federal property, not that particular incident.
Also, it's the same legal system that dropped charges against Nato leaders. Not much of an independent court, right? Dancing to the music of powers that be.
Oh yeah, in an unrelated event, after Milanovic got sentenced, MPAA decided not to press charges against RTS and other state-owned media (TV stations) for severe copyright infringements.
But let's put it aside. NATO had no right to bomb RTS building, end of story. Whether it warned them in advance or not is irrelevant. Osama and his cronies talked about bringing war to American soil for years. So, can we conclude that they're not responsible for 9/11 simply because they warned in advance?
But leave it to the courts to decide. As you may know, relatives of the killed also sued several NATO countries before their very own courts.

How lucky for them they're not destabilizing Southern Europe, like Milosevic was...

He wasn't. Dick Holbrooke said so (see above). Or you think you're smarter than Dick?

Sarajevo: It was a Civil War, nothing more, nothing less. Painting the issue as a religious conflict is blatantly stupid.

Perhaps, but society has been divided along religious lines. Therefore, one could say that it was a religious conflict. You had muslims ("Bosniacks"), catholics (Croats), and orthodox chrs. (Serbs) fighting each other, one against other two. Also, Albanians are muslim. Actually, there were some nonreligious moments during the conflict, such as Fikret Avdic and his men (Bosnian muslims) fighting along Serbs vs. Izetbegovic's Bosnian muslims and Croats. And in Kosovo, it was pretty much Albanians vs. everyone else, regardless of their ethnic or religious background.

Sandra Valentic, 34, an ethnic Croat born and raised in Serbia, said, "Am I supposed to feel warmth when I hear the anthem?"

Well, I guess that there's no problem with Croatia's anthem and/or coat-of-arms, same as those used by Croat nazi puppet state in WWII, during which around 700,000 people were killed.

And it's not "God of Justice", but "God (give us) Justice".

    2) The Muj fighters didn't arrive en mass to Bosnia until 1993 with the Serbs attacking from one side and Croats the other, while the West sat back and watched. No Serb attacks in Spring 1992 = few, if any, Muj in Bosnia.

    3) Iran's backing of the Muslims came about largely as a result of the UN arms embargo that kept the Muslims at an extreme disadvantage against the JNA-backed Serbs and Croatia-backed HVO. Balkan Muslims first turned to the West for help and then, upon receiving none, turned to Iran. If the guns come from Allah the advice can't be far behind.

Ok, now tell me this. Bosnia is surrounded by Croatia and Yugoslavia. How did weapons & fighters find their way into Bosnia through "hostile" areas?

When did Iran purchase C-130s? Can C-130 reach Tuzla airport from Iran, bypassing NATO countries such as Turkey and/or Greece? Are Iranian C-130 pilots that good both in English and in night landings?

Riiight. And I'm descendant of Ramses the 3rd. Any book to prove your point (other than Enver Hoxa's)? Any other written historical document? Monuments in Albania?

However, the Serbs were not as pyscho as the PLO and were generally willing to live and let live until Slobo came along and started slaughtering Slavic Christian Croats, Slavic Muslim Bosnians and non-Slavic Muslim-Christian mixed Albanians.

Of course. Too bad we're not retards with poor memory. Cause I seem to remember WWII, "Skanderbeg" SS division, Serbian majority in Kosovo pre-WWII, Declaration of Prizren League, and last, but not the least, 1981. riots in Kosovo. And where was Milosevic back then? Where is he right now?

Do yourself a favor, find out who, when and why first mentioned "ethnic cleansing" to describe situation in Kosovo. non-Slavic Muslim-Christian mixed Albanians

Maybe in southern and northwestern parts of Albania. But not in Kosovo. Vast majority of Albanians there are Muslim. Furthermore, even Christian Albanians in Kosovo are threatened by Muslim Albanians.

    UN administrators flee "Kristallnacht" | 23:46 | B92

    PRISTINA -- Wednesday
UN administrators have abandoned offices in the Kosovo towns of Gnjilane, Prizren and Pec, fleeing what one UNMIK official described to B92 as "Kristallnacht".

"Kristallnacht is under way in Kosovo," the official told B92 on condition of anonymity.

"What is happening in Kosovo must unfortunately be described as a pogrom against Serbs: churches are on fire and people are being attacked for no other reason than their ethnic background," he added.

Serbs and UN officers have been the target of attacks by Kosovo Albanians during most of the day and night. The most dramatic withdrawal was from Belo Polje on the outskirts of Pec, where UNMIK officials, retreating with Serb residents, where forced to shoot Albanian assailants in self-defence.

The Serbian Orthodox seminary in Pec has been razed, and Albanians celebrated its destruction by setting fire to the local church., said the UN official.

Derek Chappell's statement, press briefing, Pristina, March 17.

    CHILDREN DROWN IN RIVER IBAR

The tragic case of the children lost in the River Ibar in Mitrovica continues to unfold today.

Police were first informed of the possible drowning at 6 pm yesterday evening. A child had returned home and told their parents that at about 3:30 PM, near the village of Zubce, he and three other children had entered the river and had immediately got into difficulty in the water. He had reached the other side but his three friends had been swept away and lost as they attempted to cross the river.

Police responded immediately and began a search of the river, starting from the point where the children entered the water and continuing downstream.

All elements of the police were involved with support from KFOR. The search continued through the night and at 2345 last night, 16 March, the first body was recovered.

Twelve-year-old Egzon DELIU was found about 200 meters downstream. At 0630 today, 17 March, a second body was found, about 400 meters downstream from the point of entry. We are continuing to search for the body of the third victim, believed to be nine years of age.

Our thoughts and our deep sorrow are extended to the families of the victims.

UN police confirm two children drowned, third missing

    KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- Wednesday

The bodies of two ethnic Albanian boys have been found in the Ibar River, not far from Kosovska Mitrovica, UN police have confirmed.

Police spokesman Derek Chappell said a search was continuing for a third boy reported missing.

Chappell said he was shocked at certain Albanian media reports on how the children died, some of which have said they died after being chased by Serb youths.

An investigation is underway into how the children came to be in the river, he told Beta news agency.

The two boys were aged nine and 12.

News of the deaths has prompted fierce clashes in Mitrovica between Serbs and Albanians.
