  • How Ted Cruz Became Ted Cruz

    Politico Magazine ^ | 1/5/15 | Michael Kruse
In 2008, the situation was very different: he was wading into a case that had no immediate connection to Texas at all. But to see the signature of R. Ted Cruz on the brief would not have surprised the nine Supreme Court justices in the least. By that time, Cruz had been solicitor general for five years, and inserting himself into a case of wide prominence and importance regardless of any direct tie to Texas had become part of his playbook. He clearly saw the Heller case as a watershed in gun rights, writing that it would “determine whether the...
  • Donald Trump says Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth “could be a difficult problem” for 2016 bid

    Dallas Morning News ^ | 1/23/2015 | Todd Gillman
In August 2013, The Dallas Morning News reported that the circumstances of his birth made him both a Canadian and an American. The dual citizenship came as a surprise to Cruz and his parents, and the senator quickly vowed to shed his Canadian citizenship. That became official last June. For Trump, that’s not yet good enough if Cruz wants to run for and become president.
  • Trump: Come on, Obama’s tears were sincere yesterday

However, I think the tears were real, probably more from frustration at being on the losing end of this argument and seeing that clearly. That also explains the yelling and other demagoguery in the presser. More to the point, there isn’t much gained in trying to litigate the opposite, especially for prospective presidential nominees. Trump takes the best political tack — allowing for legitimate motivation while opposing the policies and the ideology behind it.

Declined 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, born in 1946, is Chairman and CEO of the Trump Organization, a real estate firm, and founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts that operates casinos and resorts world wide. He is personally WORTH OVER $2 billion. His universal health care plan would use the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program to act as a guide for all healthcare reform. As for border control he endorses making legal immigration more difficult, limiting new immigration while concentrating on the success of the immigrants now in legal residence.

excerpt In fact, Cruz is 100% right about what he supported and why he supported it, as a brief trip through history suffices to show. The tale actually starts with Rush Limbaugh.

Cruz is demonstrating a skill a president must have: avoiding a confrontation for a larger goal. During political campaigns, there is an obsession with presidential action. The party out of power demands that the president do something in response to everything. But it’s often the case that letting a situation develop is the wiser course. That’s the course Cruz is on.
  • Trump won't blow up, but he will fade away

So, lesson No. 1 is this: national polls, where Trump's lead is the biggest and the most consistent, are nearly meaningless. Take any December 10 before the presidential primaries in this millennium, and the national polling leader that day has not won Iowa or the nomination in any contested primary. Put another way: Mad-as-Hell voters have dated Trump, but they're ready to marry Cruz or Rubio.

A new PBS documentary has exposed the motivating factors behind House Freedom Caucus members’ decision to propel donor-class favorite Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) 58% into the most powerful position in Congress. As Speaker of the House, Ryan will have unilateral control over many aspects of the congressional agenda, including passage of Obamatrade in the lame duck session and amnesty legislation in 2017.

Have to scroll down to see full text. State Attorney Angela Corey fired her office’s information technology director Friday after he testified last month about being concerned prosecutors did not turn over information to George Zimmerman’s defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. On the same day attorneys finished their closing arguments in that nationally watched trial, a state attorney investigator went to Ben Kruidbos’ home about 7:30 a.m. to hand-deliver a letter stating Kruidbos “can never again be trusted to step foot in this office.” (WAJ adds) This has been a dirty prosecution in so many ways,...

Had d-link, the lap top worked. Added netflix, d-link broke (the button you push to active stuck). bought netgear, could not install, hours on phone. Bought ATT techconnect .... took netgear back, sorry, cause two different netgear techs called me back over the next couple of days. DH bought linksys 120. Could not connect. Friday tech connect sent to "second tier" who fixed IP address in a minute and proclaimed it fixed. Netflix worked for one day, then would not restart. The linksys is 2.4 GHz, does that matter? DH took back blue ray that sucked, especially the remote (vizio),bought...

Alachua County Commissioner Paula DeLaney's Meltdown
On Tuesday, February 16th, starting at 1:30 P.M. was the reorganizational meeting of the Alachua County Commission, in which new commissioner, Susan Baird, was sworn into office. Susan is the first Republican elected to the Alachua County Commission since George Dekle, 22 years ago. Traditionally, the reorganizational meeting is a respectful ceremony in which the current commissioners welcome aboard the new members and wish them well. Tuesday liberal Democrat Commissioner Paula DeLaney lost her mind. Paula just couldn't stand that the day, and the ceremony was not about her. Instead of offering a simple congratulations and welcome aboard to Susan...

Florida is fortunate to have great candidates willing to run and serve for all the right reasons. The repeal of the mother-of-all-unfunded mandates, Obamacare, is foremost on the minds of so many concerned Floridians, along with job, jobs, jobs. Thankfully they have candidates bold enough to promise to shake things up, put “We the People” first, and support free market and results-oriented solutions to all these challenges. Please support these great Sunshine State candidates: Rick Scott for Governor Pam Bondi for Attorney General Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate Steve Southerland (FL-2) Allen West (FL-22) Sandy Adams (FL-24)

The NRSC has sent its top lawyer to Alaska on Lisa Murkowski’s behalf and Joe Miller went on Fox today to point out the NRSC is inappropriately meddling in the race now, even though Murkowski is flirting with an independent or write-in bid. Well, I’ve just received a copy of a letter (PDF) from Miller’s attorneys demanding the disqualification of Lisa Murkowski campaign observer Bonnie Jack. The Alaska Division of Elections staff and Joe Miller’s staff observed Ms. Jack using confidential voter information and then calling a voter based on that information. The Miller team wants Ms. Jack disqualified.

Posted by Erick Erickson (Profile) Thursday, August 26th at 5:00AM EDT 3 Comments Joe Miller has won the GOP nomiation for the United States Senate in Alaska. Looking at where the absentee ballots are coming from, etc., Murkowski is not going to be able to make it up. Sources close to Miller, Palin, and external media sources all seem to think Murkowski can’t make up the difference. But there is a problem. The absentee ballots will not be counted for a week or so. Already there are rumors of “found” ballots. Murkowski is refusing to go away quietly, even allowing...

“I hope Congress and the Obama Administration will use the Arizona legislation not as an excuse to try and jam through amnesty legislation, but to finally act on border states’ requests for help with security and fix the things about our immigration system that can be fixed right now – securing the border, reforming the visa and entry process, and cracking down on employers who exploit illegal immigrants.”
