Further reports indicated that it had been shut down since Friday night, and it was the second time they’d recently declared ‘unusual event’ status (the first one being the earthquake). So it was definitely not just a little inconsequential business-as-usual, but it’s not a big problem demanding public explanation, either. That’s how I see it.
Fire & EMS dispatch is live, still, but it’s much slower now that the operation was aborted. The state police/sheriff link isn’t active, unfortunately.
I graduated from Great Mills & my dad did several tours at Pax, and I was there when Gloria went over. So I know what it’s like. God bless!
Lots of engines trying to open closed roads. 235 and 245 were/are blocked (I can’t tell) and there was a rescue call that had guys trying desperately to open a roadway near the fairground area, but they had to send out the call to abort. The storm is intensifying and all units were ordered back to their stations. Sad :(
Yeah it’s fairly rote and gets boring after awhile, but it’s interesting to get real-time data from people affected. It’s all logged then given to the NHC.
