The more the dems look to the past instead of the future, the better for us! Let the crack-up continue. Speaking of the crack-up, I found an interesting link over at DU. I didn't know where to put this topic, so I will put it here. It is really funny. The link is a response to a New York Times article about the response of some websites to the Tsunami story. Apparently DU is mentioned in a rather unflattering way, and the DUmmies are evidencing some concern over people's perception of DU participants. Some of the DUmmies are actually showing some hopeful signs of self-reflection. Here are a few of the comments from that link:

"A lot of people won't. This actually is a pretty good article on the whole, but a lot of people, including people right here apparently, will get stuck at "myths" "Democratic Underground" and 'cranks.'"

"If DU allows itself to devolve into Art Bell central, then we deserve what we get. The credibility of this site is our responsibility (although, eventually, I think Skinner's going to have to make some judgment calls as to what's actually good faith participation vs. what's an attempt by disruptors to skate around the rules)."

"Now it looks like we are a bunch of tin-hats. I am new here, but facts is facts -- the effect of bombs on a country, even the shock and awe type and quanity, are the same as tapping your fingers on the side of a building. People forget how big the Earth is.

The last part is just a 'but I mean that in a GOOD way' like the old Seinfeld routine

This just breaks my heart. I don't why this guy decided to do a hit piece on DU."

It sort of begs the question as to why Olberman doesn't consider the e-mails he receives claiming there was election fraud as "part of an effort by left-wing nuts to harangue him to cover the story."

Olberman seems to think that 19% of the public believing in the occurance of election fraud is a significant number that should command everyones attention. He also appears to believe that an increase from 18% to 19% in a month is meaningful trend. As far as I am concerned, the most telling number is that 81% of the public believe there was no election fraud.

Announcing a new nominee is possible, but I wouldn't be surprised if the press conference had something to do with Social Security reform. The news conference would then serve the purpose of framing the weeks policy debate and focusing attention on the President's individual retirement accounts.

They are nuts. Seriously, they are in need of psychological help. They live in a bubble world. The DUmmies have reached the point where everything that John Kerry, Michael Moore, the DNC, et al does is interpreted as a shrewd move that is really being done to uncover the vote fraud in Ohio. Michael Moore not speaking out about vote fraud is a head-fake and part of a highly-thought out strategy. John Kerry going silent become a masterful ploy to distract attention and advance the recount. Oh, and here is an example of how they view our reaction to all of this:

"I am sure the Repugs are crapping their pants, because Kerry did the one thing they did not expect. He step back from the fray. When Kerry steps back into the limelight again, don't worry, it will be one of the most significant moments in US history."

Hey DUmmies, here is our real reaction, "Yawn."

You are correct about the MSM. Not even their overt left-wing columnists are doing anything with this supposed "story." Keith Olberman seems to have set the bar so low that he feels vindicated if a recount or voter fraud are even so much as briefly mentioned in the MSM. For example, if CNN, ABC or Fox spend 15 seconds reporting in a matter-of-fact way about the decision of the federal judge to grant the recount requested by the Greens and Libertarians, Olberman will gloat in his blog column that the recount is beginning to seep into the mainstream media and get serious coverage.

This is akin to a man deciding to stand atop the Empire State Building and refusing to come down until he can prove he can fly. The MSM would cover the story, but it wouldn't change the fact that the man is a nut.

I agree. I don't understand why some of our fellow freepers become angry about any of this. The screams of election fraud are actually sad and pathetic. Any recount is complete and utter futility. There is zero chance of a changed outcome.

I almost pity the gang over at DU and their like-minded brethren. They honestly don't realize how they are being manipulated by both the Green Party and the Democrat Party. The Green Party is engaging in an attempt at party building by pushing for this recount. Green leaders are hoping to absorb the hard left from the Democrat Party by claiming that the Greens were the only party that stood up for the ideals of democracy by making sure that "every vote counted." To their credit, the McCauliffe democrats recognize what the Green Party is up to. To counter the Green efforts, the DNC intends to conduct an "investigation" into allegations of vote fraud. Results of this "investigation" will apparently be released next Spring.

I'm convinced that the reason the DNC is planning to release the study after the inauguration is because the party doesn't want to be tied too closely to another recount. Again, to their credit, the DNC leadership knows the margin of victory was too large. To contest the race would be a public relations nightmare the DNC simply cannot afford. The DNC will be content to throw a bone to the hard left by announcing an investigation while releasing the study well after the inauguration when the vast majority of Americans will not be paying attention or even care.

Speaking of the gang over at DU, check out the quote I found in a thread for which the purpose is to complain about how the Democratic Leadership Council, representative of the more moderate wing of the party, is beginning to speak out against Michael Moore. The DU crowd doesn't like it one bit! They want the DLC to just disappear. Anyway, pay particular attention to the last sentence. It demonstrates the inability of this particular fever swamp inhabitant to properly grasp the meaning of basic words in the English language.

"Moore gave of himself and now he is losing support because the Bushies are putting the heat on. Mike is a good guy, hard working, smart and valuable. While Rush fabricates, Hannity lies and a host of minions invent an alternate reality for the Bushbots, Moore puts facts in prospective and Cons loathe him for that skill."

The final sentence tells me two things. First, we desperately need a school voucher program. Second, democrats need to be prioritized for enrollment. The program should begin with a course called "An Introduction to Logic and Grammer."

I was just lurking over at DU. Several of them are beginning to face the reality that their dreams of meaningful recounts and proving election fraud are over. Some are even demonstrating the capability for rational thought strewn with hints of logic. They are really bummed that the provisional ballots didn't dramatically close the gap and that the vote is going to be certified with a seemingly insurmountable Bush lead.

Here is my prediction. They will soon get off the election fraud bandwagon and instead throw their energy into an impeach Bush effort. It will get to the point where they will be compiling all of the reasons as to why Bush should be impeached on various blogs and frantically wondering when the "mainstream media" will begin picking up on the story. They will then profess their belief that the reason the MSM won't cover the "obvious" crimes is because the media is controlled by big corporations who are part of the sinister right-wing cabal. In the meantime, the Republican Party will most probably increase its majority in the Senate during the 2006 midterm elections, sending the left even deeper into a delirious rage. We'll then get more empty talk about vote fraud, revolutions and leaving the country. This will continue until a democrat is elected in the 2008 primary and the radical left becomes gleeful about their candidates impending victory.

I am hereby declaring that the official term for this historically verifiable phenomena shall henceforth be "the cycle."

My guess is that any involvement by the Kerry campaign has more to do with maintaining Kerry's viability with the base for 2008 should he decides to run again, and nothing to do with contesting the outcome of this election. The dem base is beginning to get cranky that Kerry isn't following through on his promise to "make sure all the votes are counted." Just a guess, but now he can say, hey, I tried.
