  • Police say Horn shot 2 men in the back

I think the saddest part to all this is that Mr. Horn had to be in the position to clean up the job that the Federal, State, & local LEOs failed to do.
If they were illegal immigrants, previously deported, prior criminal records, and in the act of carrying out another crime, the entire law enforcement community failed and Mr. Horn stepped up to protect his property and the community’s.
The real issue is that the paid protectors failed Mr. Horn and the neighbor completely and as a responsible citizen, Mr. Horn performed perfectly. Unfortunately it has to happen this way now.
I congratulate Mr. Horn on performing his civic duty and acting according to his God given right to remain secure in his home & community day or night. The real crime here is the failure of the LE community and our complete acceptance that citizens have to rely on 911 for protection.

    Thank you for replying Chena,
When a Christian blew up an abortion clinic in Pensacola I was ashamed, when abortion doctors were murdered by Christians, I was ashamed that people took the religion to a level not supported by the majority.
I believe the majority of Christians and Christian leaders voiced opposition not support, Christians did not dress their children in bomb outfits and propose more bombings and murders.
I obviously have no problem being sick if it keeps me alert to danger. I believe that this is a dividing line for America and unfortunately innocents will be hurt on all sides. That's why I said muslim brothers don't care who they kill, in 9/11 or the streets of Bagdad.
However, because it is a religion we are fighting that does not separate church from state, I will not slacken on my position.
I believe that it is islam's desire to rule and that would mean the end of freedom in the entire world if America fails to stop this spread. The reality is that islam and freedom do not mix and American muslims have to decide with us or against us.

I think that their muslim brothers put them between the rock and hard place, not any American. I also think that the muslim community is extremely selfish and has no concept of shame, well to any other people that is.
How can any one group not be ashamed for making the entire flying public be forced to waste their time and money just to save their standing in life. Why should the rest of the world be forced to lose valuable time, resources and their self respect for muslims?
Sorry, no pity from me for their whiny way of life and their desire to train their children to love death instead of life. I know the enemy and until they change their ways, I paint them all the same.
America has been very tolerant of them, unfortunately their muslim brothers do not care if the peaceful ones you are concerned for have to pay a price for killing innocent people.

This man is another victim of muslim terriorist regardless of who pulled the trigger. To blame the British police, whether in full uniform or undercover, is a politically correct rule no longer in force when the enemy launches a killing spree in your town.
We need this this type of preventative measure and enforcement attitude in this country soon and before, not after the act.

I though that too, but these lines from the story don't support it.

"Before his capture, Sgt. Walters was shot in the leg and stabbed three times in the abdomen with a bayonet, Maj. Strong said, citing the report. It was not clear whether the bayonet wounds would have killed Sgt. Walters. He was held separately from the other soldiers, but was seen being led into the building and his body was brought out".

Haifa was a great port and in 1979 the Eisenhower was received very well by the residents of Haifa. I was asked by several IDF personnel if the carrier would support Israel. I could only answer that I would.
Great port and very very nice people, Jewish people that is, I did not have much contact with any arabic types and didn't look for any either.

Your NYC parade reminded me of a return trip I had back to NAS Oceana the Sunday after the Kent State incident with the National Guard. I had to walk from Grand Central Station to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and worried that my short hair and Navy insignia on my bag would set off some sort of a revenge frenzy.
I obviously made it OK and as always during that time, did not travel in uniform unless there was no way to avoid it and always tried to stay in a group of uniformed people if traveling in uniform.
I work as a civilian on a Navy base around many uniformed people and retired military personnel so acknowledging their service and family's sacrifice is an everyday blessing.
    Another great generation in uniform.

Good reply from the home front. It is not just the troops who are offended or hurt by these acts of loosely called freedom of speech words or staged acts of defiance. It includes all the families of the service personnel who feel betrayed by these flippant remarks.
They cut very deeply and affect the wives, children, and parents of the service person who have to carry on with their everyday activities.
It also adds to the weight of the troops over seas as they feel the additional pain their families bear knowing that some one doesn't respect their loved ones due to the uniform they are wearing and the job they are doing.
What President Bush did on the USS Lincoln was much more than a political message. It said the he respects their sacrafice, is supportive and thankful to all the military and puts the hollywood/entertainer remarks in the trash. Who's respect is more important?

You are doing the right thing for your children regarding their safety and well being.
I agree that some medications are passed out like snacks to children. Unfortunately they are often recommended by a teacher who cannot tell hyperactivity from plain boredom or a natural need to burn off energy. The play ground activity mentioned earlier is a good thing.
There is a big difference from "dumbing down medications" given for inappropriate reasons and life saving medications. For parents who never had to make this choice consider yourself very fortunate. For those who have had to make this choice you are also fortunate if the medication helps and there is hope for recovery and home serenity.
If I didn't know the parental pain and the hope a carefully prescribed and monitored medication could provide I would not dare step into this arena with a parent. Since Mfkmmof4 is a mother, I'd back off with harsh opinions of her and be very respectful of a mother protecting her children.
You have my understanding and high regard for dealing with a very difficult situation, the church support is invaluable. Take care.

Unfortunately, I believe this to be true and not because it concerns Palestinian children. Other groups/radicals have used innocents to advance their cause, view them as expendable pawns or useful tools.
Americans are innocent too in that we project our values onto others and assume all cultures have a similiar baseline of right and wrong.
It isn't so and our media is misleading us into viewing all conflicts as being led by moral people who are passionate in their cause. Some people with causes actually just want to kill you/me and our families. The goal is not necessarily to advance a moral cause, just their own cause and for their own gain however they define it.
Please provide additional insight from your perspective and current location.

Thank you for taking the point of getting a license or permit to the next level. Since I can only use this right if licensed or permitted, it certainly is not the right I thought it was.
I am restricted to buying what is authorized by the licensing authority and the license also requires the signature of the county sheriff.
I am currently living in Maryland and close to D.C. so it seemed like a victory when I got the license.

Actually, I have had my Curio & Relic license for a couple of years and have been exercising my right. It's one of the things that makes the Second Amendment real but, it does limit the right to what one may purchase.

Thanks. I think that we should have equivalent arms to have a fair fight but the support costs for anything above a rifle or hand gun is way above my salary. Just having sufficient arms to take a stand is actually enough for me as going down without a fight isn't the American way.
Sometimes just standing up and saying no is enough to hold the line and we still have a say in this government process so no need to get the heavy wepons just yet.

Having the capability to overcome a government that becomes oppressive is the reason for the Second Amendment. Anyone who has read the Declaration Of Independence should understand that having guns or a means to defend freedom is actually a requirement for being a citizen of a free country.
Self defense is both for protection from evil doers who invade your personal residence as well as from governments that attempt to remove your freedom. Hunting for game is one of the benefits and not as necessary anymore since this country is capable of supplying this need.
For these reasons alone I will eventually own a gun some day.

They must have taken this part of the training from the NAZI SS manual. I believe that killing their dog at the end of trainig was a requirement for graduation and a sign of allegiance to Hitler. It has a purpose and it is designed to make the kind of killer who does not cringe at any order given.

I am impressed with the way the discussion is being handled by all of you. No profanity and no name calling. I don't have a personal involvement in the issue but I could never endorse or understand Government involvement in such a personal and private matter such as marriage.
Domestic issues are not a government matter and this country's legal system took a wrong turn when seeking to manage this private institution between male and female.
I believe that we have developed a new government industry or money laundering system under the name of child welfare or family services. We just don't know how big it is but we need to understand how destructive it is to our culture.

I had the identical problem of placing my daughter into a treatment center for depression and what I felt was dangerous activity to her health. The center advised me that since she was 16 years of age she did not have to stay, and of course she chose not to.

All my rational thought went down the tube as I realized that I could not use this treatment center as a resource regardless of the old adage that a child is under the parent's care and responsibility until age 18.

In other words, I did not have the leagl authority to give my daughter the medical attention she needed but if she did something that caused property damage or some how hurt another person, I would be financially responsible to pay the damages.

Going the legal route, before a judge to prove she needed the treatment, would be timely and I don't think that would have helped her get better.

This comes from the rights for children movement in the State of Florida.

If one looks around, you may discover that some children seek emancipation from home and find refuge in little communities. These groups or communities also provide refuge for runaway children and the next generation of drug dealers, prostitutes male and female, and instruction in street survival.

Anyway, my daughter was going down that road and by the grace of God only, she is well past that issue and living a resposible adult life.

If the state continues to restrict parential authority and parents do not fight for their children's well being then we surely have a secular village raising our children with us paying the taxes to support it.

Most of the people who live by military air bases seem to find the jet noise annoying, during peace time anyway. The residents near NAS Oceana, Va. really complained when we had to send aircraft out at 1 or 2 am to practice field carrier landings prior to going to the ship. I didn't much care for the late hours either or being away from the family for months during the cruise. I still appreciate the "sound of freedom" years later and sometimes when they fly low overhead on approach, its a little loud but it isn't annoying to me, in peace time or now.
