  • Some liberals have given up on the idea of a multi-ethnic Britain

Perhaps we should also be creating an even more progressive immigration policy, for example offering easier admission to those who will bring their skills to the depopulated regions of the north of England and Scotland. The Americans will next year offer more work permits to IT whizzkids from India than ever before; and before the middle of the century, the world's strongest economy will become its most ethnically diverse. Our own population is still over 92% white; we shouldn't be duped by anxious faint-hearts into becoming an all-white backwater.

It's awful to see the American example of importing Indian IT workers being emulated. It's a foolish policy for America and foolish for Britain as well.

That last sentence referring to an "all-white backwater" is very telling; it exposes the true nature of the leftist "diversity" creed, because that comment implies there's something deficient with white people when left to their own devices, and that whites are in need of some "spicing up" at the hands of the diversity crowd.

Pat Buchanan pointed this out in his book, The Death of the West--Europe and America are facing the same problem as well--we're not replacing ourselves, so Third Worlders are filling the vacuum.

My ultimatum to George W. Bush: You've wasted two and a half years and a quarter trillion dollars. Either capture Osama bin Laden by November or I will be voting for John Kerry as the stronger candidate on national security.

Bush already has provisions for an "October Surprise"--if you listen to shortwave, you find that Bin Laden is already dead and they have him on ice--Rove plans to wheel him out just before the election to ensure a Bush victory. They're not rolling him out now because they know the attention span of the American people is quite limited, and they don't want to waste the spectacular effects of the unveiling this early.

Sad thing is that Bin Laden is only a figurehead, a symbol that AQ rallies around--his presence or absence doesn't stop the daily (and longer-term) operations of the cells, as well as their sympathizers. AQ will continue on without him. An analogy: the death of FDR did not stop the war effort, nor did it stop the march of liberalism in this country.

My reasoning is that if he was susceptible to manipulation by US Government agents, he would obviously be vulnerable to manipulation by Islamoterrorists. Better we find out this way. Besides, I'm not one who believes that a person can be "manipulated" to do something they wouldn't do anyway. They just use the "manipulators" arguments to convince themselves to do it. He was traitor scum at heart, not an "All American Boy".

Very good points all. This case makes me wonder about the stability, or "manipulability," of the majority of America's young men in general.

You may have seen other threads on this incident where someone posted some of the Usenet posts this Guardsman made. He referred to his "Arabic History" class in college and the like. Given the systematically left-wing (or at least nihilist) direction of America's educational system, which this kid is a product of, I wonder how many more of these incidents we'll be hearing about in the future.

A sting was assembled, with some of the investigators posing as terrorists online...They communicated with Anderson in chat rooms to find out just how much he would be willing to reveal. Anderson, it appears, then tried to tell the agents how they might be successful in attacking U.S. armor in Iraq and provided information about "vulnerabilities" of equipment the U.S. Army was using in Iraq or is about to ship over with newly deployed troops.

Some of this seems like the government may have manufactured this whole thing, and pushed him into committing a crime he otherwise wouldn't have--that's the danger of "sting" operations. Keep in mind all this transpired over the Internet, and it's not like the conversation between the kid and the agents would be a short, blunt, "Hi, we're terrorists, what can you tell us about the Americans?" and the kid responding, "Oh sure, they have X, Y, and Z which can do A, B, and C," etc.

It's important to remember that these federal agents are trained in using psychological manipulation--they could have gradually turned the conversation in ways that made the topics seem like idle conversation, nothing criminal that would tip the kid off that he shouldn't discuss certain things online.

How will it affect our other commitments (Afghanistan, Korea, Japan, Europe)?

Someone in another thread said that we must constantly review our policies and reduce our presence if possible. We may eventually find ourselves in the position of having troops all over the world but with none to protect the homeland.

The concerns you raise are valid, and fortunately they are being taken care of by President Bush. For eight years Clinton-Gore neglected and belittled the military. Bush, thankfully, is for a strong national defense, so he will dedicate the proper resources and draw up the right contingency plans.

Remember the son at the dinner table?

    "I hate you...".

Remember the father in the basement?

    "I hate you..."

    Deliberate logical equivalence. Very cool.

Yes! That is what makes this movie so good, and work so well; everything leads to the next thing, and everything comes together seamlessly. Some people I saw the movie with thought parts of it were boring, but I think they just don't have the patience to recognize how important it was to the resolution of the film that all these seemingly small things be set up into place. Must be a modern American attention span thing.

Isn't it pathetic that we have only one frail (from looking at her) female carrying the flag when we supposedly have a whole freaking Republican party that can't get out of the fetal position? Sad indeed. That's why I will be voting AGAINST my Republican Congressman in a couple of weeks.

Stay off this web site. Liberal!

In fairness, the poster isn't necessarily a liberal, since Republicans aren't necessarily conservatives. The Republican Party traditionally has been the home of conservatives, but our movement does have a lot of housecleaning to do in the party.

Sore loser Al Gore has said that before invading Iraq we need to establish peace in the Mideast, create a perfect Jeffersonian democracy in Afghanistan, and get the American-hating French and Germans on board. Also invent cold fusion and put a man on Mars. Then will the time be ripe for a pre-emptive attack!

I'm shocked to discover that Al Gore hasn't already invented cold fusion!

    Great Coulter column, as usual....

Why was he perceived as being gay? I don't suppose outrageously flaming behavior had anything to do with it.

That happened to me in high school. I'm not gay, never have been or will be, but a few people thought I was. Anyway, I ignored them for a long time, although it is hard to have the conservative beliefs I do and get falsely accused of being something I fundamentally oppose. They persisted in bothering me, calling me names, challenging me to fight them, so finally I got so p*ssed off with this happening day in and day out that I finally beat the hell out of the kid when he got up in my face, I pushed him into a locker and kept swinging at his head. He ran and I chased him down. I wasn't going to let up on him until someone took me off him or he was unconscious. Teachers broke it up and sent us to the office. I explained everything that happened to the vice-principal, told him why I did it, etc. Even told him that I have conservative beliefs and didn't appreciate being pegged as gay. The vice-principal basically agreed with me and was really hard on the kid that bothered me. I still had to get a detention "for the record," but I could tell that the principal fully understood why I fought the kid and that the kid brought my wrath on himself.

After that day, no one ever bothered with me again. As a matter of fact, I later became friends with the kid I beat up. And I didn't have to sue the school. Of course, that was quite a few years ago.

Bill Gertz is a goldmine for the skinny on China, both his articles and his book. For too long the U.S. has ignored the threat they pose, probably in denial due to the trade aspect.

Good points about Eastern Europeans being anti-socialist due to their recent past experience. I guess what I really had in mind was the Dresden part of the flood, since the Germans recently gave in to their anti-Americanism and they are not supporting the War on Terror.

As far as Western civilization, the best of it is in America, while Europe is left with their dregs. We shouldn't look back.
