Alber’s letter enumerated those steps: "1) Divide the nation philosophically. 2) Foment racial strife. 3) Cause distrust of police authority. 4) Swarm the nation’s borders indiscriminately and unconstitutionally. 5) Engender the military strength to weaken it. 6) Overburden citizens with more unfair taxation. 7) Encourage civil rioting and discourage accountability for all crime. 8) Control all balloting. 9) Control all media."

The abortion issue is causing problems for Republican politicians across the country. Republicans have an abortion problem, and there is only one Party leader who can fix it: Donald Trump. Let me explain. Like the proverbial dog chasing the bus, the GOP spent years campaigning on the promise to appoint Supreme Court justices who would repeal Roe v. Wade but when finally successful, had no idea how to navigate the resulting political landscape. Democrats have used the reversal of Roe and Republicans’ subsequent anti-abortion initiatives to paint the party as extreme, thereby winning over women and younger voters. The overturning...

Liberal TV show host Bill Maher is warning Democrats about reprisal from Republicans after former President Donald Trump was indicted on criminal charges late last week. Speaking to his roundtable of guests, Maher said Friday that he believes Republicans will attempt to arrest President Joe Biden toward the end of his time in office as part of a “cycle of revenge” for the indictment of Trump by Democrat and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on charges that he obscured the reporting of a hush-money payment made to an adult film star just days...

The Vatican announced Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away Saturday morning at 9:34 a.m. He was 95 years old. He is most immediately remembered outside the Catholic Church for his surprise resignation — the first papal abdication since 1415 — and subsequent life as the world’s first "pope emeritus" in centuries. Benedict was born Joseph Ratzinger on April 16, 1927, in Bavaria. He came of age in Germany after World War I at the same time the Nazi regime was growing in power.

Ke'Arre Stewart, Jennifer Markovsky and University of Colorado Colorado Springs police Officer Garrett Swasey died at the women's clinic. Five other people — five of...

A deadly threat facing Australia’s bees has expanded, with more properties affected. The infestation could cost Australia $70m a year. The threat to Australia’s honey bees has expanded after a deadly parasite was discovered at more NSW properties. Bees are being exterminated in NSW to stop the spread of the varroa mite parasite, which could cost Australia $70m each year if it is not stopped. A Department of Primary Industries (DPI) emergency order has banned the movement of bees throughout the state, with some hives to...

New Hampshire took another step closer to becoming the second state to make human-grade ivermectin available without a prescription. By a late night 3-2 vote on April 26, the Senate Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee, voted that HB1022 “ought to pass” with an amendment that it would expire in two years. On April 27, Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a similar bill into law. The New Hampshire bill still faces a full vote from the Republican-controlled Senate and final approval from Republican Gov. Chris Sununu. Tom Sherman, a doctor, and one of the two Democrats that voted against...

Conclusions This systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that several personal protective and social measures, including handwashing, mask wearing, and physical distancing are associated with reductions in the incidence covid-19. Public health efforts to implement public health measures should consider community health and sociocultural needs, and future research is needed to better understand the effectiveness of public health measures in the context of covid-19 vaccination.
