Ten cruise ships converging on South Africa There;s a story here, yet to be told. I see 10 cruise ships with destinations of South Africa. What do you make of that ? Nothing in the news. These are Carnival owned vessels. Two arriving as I write. https://www.cruisemapper.com/?imo=9378450
  • Question for Landlords that are freepers

Many matters are clear with landlords and tenants, but I've got a grey area here. If a tenant breaks a lease and requests to leave before the 12 months is up, what do they lose? If a landlord at move-in made them pay first month, last month, and security deposit, all about $1,000 each. What does a landlord have to return if they only stayed six months? What would be the purpose of taking these amounts if tenant could just walk and know they can get some of it back? Can a landlord deduct turn-over costs ? Like paying an...

Own property and been renting it out in Florida for three years now. I'm sure we have freepers that have done this for decades and even some that got out of it. 1) We see the renter that asks? Do you accept Section 8? Aside from what that might allow, does section 8 allow for payment of last month rent. Is the security deposit in anyway dictated by that govt program? 2) We see potential tenants tell us about 'service animals' that we must take and allow in. We read that at least in Florida the statute does not allow...

  • Filing tax return and finding dependent has also claimed same exemption

Have found that months after I filed i.r.s. tax return, that a dependent filed and started to claim themselves as a dependent. Had 5 kids and this is the last one. Both of us seem to be stuck in limbo. I.R.S. is dragging their asses, no irs notice dates promised are met, no refunds issued at all. I would file a 1040-X amended return but I am under the impression that a return has to be accepted and processed in order to amend it. Can those freepers that had this happen, comment.
  • How bad is astigmatism ?

I have pending cataract surgery in a days time. Being told to pay an extra $1000 for a toric lense to correct 1.19 astigmatism. No insurance or benefit will cover as this can be accomplished with normal glasses. I don't think I will tell the difference, because when we use $1 readers and I have done so for 20 years, there is no astigmatism correction present. My eye exams going back years show me at a 1.00 astig. level for years and years. So why bother at this level 1.19 of concern ? Any freepers please comment. Really want to...
  • Fighting Solar Farm proposed for beautiful hilltop & ridge

We are at the Florida county level, trying to fight a land purchase by an electric utility, to install acres of solar panels, on pristine hilltops and highest land in Florida. 350 acres. My posting is to solicit any freeper input as in has this happened in your area of the world. Our group wants to limit the solar farm to the lower elevation land areas, between the hillsides. What we are up against is corrupt politicians. State Senator Wilt Simpson bought this pastureland in 2016, after the county passed restrictions on housing development. He seems to have gotten fantastic...
  • Can't find photo of felon, anywhere.

I've been looking for a photo of this perp for over an hour, all over the web. There seems to be a real successful attempt to hide her or her color or whatever. Been too at least 50 sites with all stock photos. I thought criminal photos were open season in the public domain. • Job terminated, final paycheck has windfall taxes withheld.

Job terminated as of June 30. Final paycheck is for 6 weeks pay. Normal FITW bi-weekly at this salary is $0. Since 6 weeks are posted in 2 week timeframe the FITW is $289. Employer claims i.r.s. forces them to do this on severance pay. I think that's a lie. Do I have to wait until I file in April next year to get back this $289 theft of funds? Can payroll company be forced to disperse final check amount and withhold based on a larger than 2-week window? Has any freeeper seen this or know better ? Thanks.

For five years now I've been on my wife's health care plan. It includes dental. Back on March 23rd, 2016 at a dental visit they discussed a crown on a tooth in my mouth. To get the preauthorization they took an x-ray. They submitted and was told they needed a different kind of x-ray. Time passed. In late May I suspected that I might be dropping coverage end of June this year. So I revisited the crown in a conversation with the dentist office before Memorial Day. They took my call and apparently resubmitted the pre-auth request. No new x-ray...

Wife worked full-time at an organized church office for 9 1/2 years now. Worked 35 hours a week and received insurance and health care benefits, etc. Fiscal year cycles at June 30. She was the elimination of her position this past week and given the option to continue at 19 hours a week, part time. She has said no, she needs a job with benefits. They surprised her yesterday, Friday, with her last day worked. Their letter says she is paid until end of June and 4 weeks into July for sick days and left over vacation time. Now her...

I was in my local Lowes store today. Zipcode: 33541 I was shopping for and inquiring about windows to put in the wall of an existing home. There are metal, vinyl, etc. Single, double pane variations. Some block some of the light from the sun from entering to some extent. The Lowes salesman asked me if I was planning on pulling a county permit? I asked why he asked ! He said starting about two months ago they changed the code and requirements for windows. He told me the code that had been applying only to new construction had been...

Been looking for an internet forum to ask a few questions and interface with others in the know. My wife has an employee/employer job. I am self employed. I am on her employer's health insurance. They deduct premiums every two weeks from her paycheck. Example: 800-200, net 600 There has been lawful pre-tax med calculations being done meaning ss tax is paid on the 600 not 800. Now we find this is directly impacting her benefits when she retires, 3 years hence. Can this be changed going back a few years and tax returns amended to reflect this? Has the...

Just encountered this the other day. The freon that we are all being forced to use as they deny us r22, is a disaster. My 1 1/2 ton central system holds 13 lbs of this freon. It was low by only 1/2 a lb. It's cooling capacity was off 80%. It's electrical consumption was still 100% if not higher than when it is fully charged. But to have the 5% reduction in coolant result and so much energy waste and non-cooling is a flaw and should be a crime -- nobody's talking about it. The hvac tech also could not...

I am running computers at my Florida farm that use ten-fold the electricity I used a year ago, this time of year. I read freeper threads about the LEO, no-knock, drug suspected raids, that occur all across the states when electricity usage is flagged as abnormally high. How would you go about contacting the county sheriff and what to say as well as what not to say with regard to high electric usage. I don't want to wake in the middle of the night to LEO activity on my property that I suspect is a burglary or other criminal activity....
