The White House wants Israel to delay its ground operation in the Gaza Strip to allow more time for negotiations to release the hostages held by terrorists there and for aid to enter the Palestinian enclave, several unnamed US officials told The New York Times. Officials said that the US is not asking Israel to abort the ground invasion but is advising it to wait, and that Washington still fully supports Israel’s aim to destroy Hamas in the wake of the deadly onslaught. Nonetheless, four senior Israeli defense officials told the Times the ground invasion has been repeatedly put off...

For years, Haniyeh has been rebuked by many Palestinians for leading a comfortable life away from the hardships of Gaza in the oil-rich Gulf monarchy, which offers shelter to the terror group’s leaders and an internationally recognized platform to spread its propaganda through Al Jazeera. Senior Hamas figures, including Haniyeh, would levy a 20 percent tax on all of the trade passing through the tunnels, according to a 2014 report in Ynet, an Israeli news site. A senior PA official alleged that the tunnel-smuggling market had transformed 1,700 senior Hamas officials into millionaires, according to a report in Saudi weekly...

The UN Security Council on Monday rejected a Russian resolution calling for a ceasefire to end the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, with delegates refusing to back a motion that did not single out Hamas for its devastating shock onslaught in Israel that left at least 1,300 people dead. A second text proposed by Brazil with unequivocal language condemning Hamas appeared to have broader support, and was expected to come to a vote on Tuesday evening, diplomats said. “We cannot support a resolution which fails to condemn Hamas’ terror attacks,” Barbara Woodward told the council. An online backlash has hit Russia's bid to indoctrinate schoolgirls to fight for Vladimir Putin. Most of the country's propaganda war has been aimed at boys, but now it is switching to girls. An example is in Primorsky region where for the first time schoolgirls aged 15 and 16 are inducted in 'military-patriotic education'. In neighbouring Belarus, beauty pageant contestants were recruited to 'inspire' girls and women to join up and fight for Putin-ally and vote-rigging dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In Primorsky - in the far eats of Russia - some 75 schoolgirls were trained in military 'basics' including drilling, tactical,...

'When they're damaged, the cost of repair is higher,' she said. Since electric cars have fewer components, when one does fail its more expensive to replace. That means insurers may prefer writing off a car over repairing it. Unlike in the past when a windshield could be replaced with relative ease, the sensors that go into them now mean traditionally simple repairs have become longwinded and expensive. That also means they can take a while, leaving the insurance company responsible for renting a replacement car for the customer for even longer periods. 'If an electric vehicle is involved in a...

A Georgia judge ruled on Thursday that Donald Trump and 16 others will be tried separately from Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, who are set to go to trial next month in the case on an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 election results in that state. Powell and Chesebro had filed demands for a speedy trial, and Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee had set their trial to begin Oct. 23. The former president and the other defendants asked to be tried separately from the two, with some arguing they would not be ready in time for an...

"Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family's foreign business dealings. Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls and had multiple interactions, dinners resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons and his son's business partners," McCarthy said. Earlier, Fox News Digital confirmed that McCarthy will tell House Republicans today that beginning an impeachment inquiry against Biden is the "logical next step" for their investigations. An inquiry is the first step of the impeachment process, where evidence is gathered for...

...there have been at least five occasions throughout history where the human race has been in danger of dying out, not least because of the eruption of a supervolcano 70,000 years ago that almost sent us the same way as the dinosaurs. So when will our species go extinct? If you're an optimist, it won't be for another billion years. That is when the expanding sun will cause our planet to heart up to a Venus-like state and render all life on Earth extinct.

A climate change scientist has claimed the world's leading academic journals reject papers which don't 'support certain narratives' about the issue and instead favor 'distorted' research which hypes up dangers rather than solutions. Brown gave the example of a paper he recently authored titled 'Climate warming increases extreme daily wildfire growth risk in California'. Brown said the paper, published in Nature last week, 'focuses exclusively on how climate change has affected extreme wildfire behavior' and ignored other key factors. Brown laid out his claims in an article titled 'I Left Out the Full Truth to Get My Climate Change Paper...
