  • Capitalism versus Socialism

There's a lot of discussion these days about Capitalism versus Socialism as an economic system. Most Democrats, including Harris and other left-leaning people, favor Socialism. The key tool for them to bring this about is to tax the rich and give it to the poor to even out the distribution of income. That is a flawed solution to the problem. First, it assumes that an equal distribution of income is a desirable goal. It is not. It's the human condition to want to improve one's lot in life. If the gov't makes everyone's income the same, it removes the desire...

  • Free USPS Informed Delivery Service

Informed Delivery is an existing free service provided by the USPS. If you go to their home page, you can see the service mentioned near the middle-right side of the page. After you create an account, each morning you are sent an email that tells you how many pieces of mail you will receive that day, including packages. It then shows photos of the pieces to be delivered. It does not provide Sunday service. This service is not new. It's been around since 2017, but I was unaware of it. It could be especially useful for people who often have...
  • Biden "Best President"

CNN ^ | 6/27/2024 | quoted from speech by Joe Biden
Biden bragged how a group of economist ranked Biden the best President. First, Biden was not ranked first. He was ranked 14th. Trump was ranked last. That begs the question: Who conducted the research for the report? The report, The 2024 Presidential Greatness Project Expert Survey, released in February, collected responses from 154 presidential historians, which included current and recent members of the American Political Science Association. Trump should ask: Of those 154 historians, what percentage have research grants/funding from the gov't. It's sort of like asking you if you like the person signing your paycheck. Also, many of the...

Until a few days ago, I had not heard of Damon Imani. Then I found and watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr99SPITqTs and I thought: Wow! Someone who's not afraid to call out the Liberals! (That is worth watching!) Alas, yesterday I found this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u33DbjC8c2A Tell me someone's not holding some kind of threat over his head. I cannot find a recent video of him anywhere. Does anyone know what happened to him?

The Biden administration laid out an ambitious new goal for the US: produce 20% of the world’s most advanced semiconductor chips by the end of the decade. It currently makes 0% of the so-called leading edge logic chips that are considerably more powerful than older-generation semiconductors, making them crucial for everything from mobile phones to AI to quantum computing. The legislation allows the White House to spend $50 billion in taxpayer dollars — $39 billion specifically earmarked for manufacturing — to try and help reignite American manufacturing in the years ahead.

Good example of how our government works…………………. Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said, "Someone may steal from it at night." So they created a night watchman position. Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one to write the instructions, and one to do time studies. Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people to...

Recently, I was on vacation in Budapest, Hungary, taking one of those bus trips of the city. Our guide was a young lady, probably mid-20's, who spoke excellent English but had always lived in Budapest. We drove by a major university and she said that a college education was free in Hungary. When we drove past a large city bus stop, she quickly pointed out that it, too, was free. Finally, we drove past a large hospital where I was told that medical care was free. Curious, I asked her what her income tax rate was and she relied that...

I will attempt to answer the very detailed and frightening April 12 Correspondent of the Day letter from Dr. L. Fred Roensch. Perhaps a better title would have been "Despondent of the Day." He cites Bill Gates and the American Petroleum Institute as well-meaning caretakers of our planet by reciting a litany of creative means to save our children and grandchildren from his imagined horrors. My reply will begin with the failed but popular premise that we have gone from global warming to climate change. Why the change? I'll tell you why by citing Ian Rutherford Plimer, Australian geologist and...

The Democrats and many "Progressives" promise to increase the minimum wage to $15/hr. A recent street survey of some (really stupid) people suggests there are some out there who think $50/hr would be a "good" minimum wage. Really? Back in 1972 George McGovern was running for President. He had a photo op with Cesar Chevez, who was trying to get a wage increases for the lettuce pickers. McGovern voewed not to eat another salad until Chevez won his wage increase. A Sociology prof I worked with came in and told me what a great idea McGovern's boycott was. Stupid... The...

I don't know about you, but i feel like I've had a boatload of blaming whites for everything's that's wrong with the world. A fraternity brother mine wrote the following paragraphs to a bunch of us. It was prompted by one of those nostalgic slide shows from the 1950's. My response follows: At the risk of seeming like Debby Downer, I feel a need to write something in response to the video. So here goes… I guess it’s OK to look back with nostalgia at images from the 50s; the video certainly reminded me of my childhood and youth. In...

I didn’t write this but agree it is spot on; what’s good for thee is not good for me... Remember in 2011 when tens of thousands of Democrats surged on the Wisconsin Capitol building in Madison and physically occupied it for more than two weeks? We were told, "This is what democracy looks like." Remember in 2016 when Obama was President and hundreds of BLM blocked interstate highways and violently accosted police (even killing several)? We were told, "To assign the actions of one person to an entire movement is dangerous and irresponsible." Remember in 2018 during the Kavanaugh hearings...

Do current TV ads reflect the current demographics in the US? If so, over half the US couples are bi-racial or gay. I guess I just haven't been paying attention to what's going on around me. Anyone else notice this, or am I just watching different ads?
