BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: So everybody's asking me, "What's gonna happen?" You know, we've been running the Gore countdown clock at RushLimbaugh.com for ten years. It happens tomorrow, January 27th. Algore said ten years ago that we had ten years to save the planet, that if we didn't, that life on earth would be totally unlike it was ten years ago. And then guys like Larry David came along, "You know, Al, he's a funny guy, but when he gets serious, you have to listen, 'cause Al's telling us that if we don't act on this, the earth is gonna become...

A consensus appears to be developing among otherwise reasonable people that Kim Davis, of Rowan County fame, either needs to start issuing marriage licenses or quit her job.For those just joining us, a county clerk in Kentucky is refusing to issue marriage licenses against her conscience and is also refusing to resign. Her name, which should be on a bronze plaque on the side of the courthouse, is Kim Davis. A federal judge has ordered her to appear in his courtroom Thursday to explain why Davis should not be held in contempt of court for refusing to issue marriage...

  • EIGHT LIES IN PRESIDENT OBAMA’S ROE STATEMENT

President Obama issued a statement today to mark the forty-first anniversary of Roe v. Wade. A mere paragraph long, it contains enough euphemism, evasion, and outright falsehood to serve simultaneously as a model of dissimulation and concision.1. “We” — The statement begins by saying “as we reflect” on Roe “we recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle.” But who is this we? Obama issues his statement in his official capacity as head of state, but America is sorely divided. By a generous measure, only 53 percent of Americans support Roe. When Obama pledges his rhetorical “we” to the principle of...

[snip]... MARK SHIELDS: And I just wanted to point this out, that Bill Clinton came into office on January 20, 1993. He left on January 20, 2001. He raised taxes to a spectacularly high level, by Republican standards, to 39.6 percent. There were, in Bill Clinton's eight years, 21,872,000 jobs created in the private sector. George Bush came in, and, following the lead of Mr. Taylor and others, cut taxes to their lowest, to 33 percent. During George Bush's eight years in the White House, from January 20, 2001, to 2009, the country lost 672,000 jobs. JIM LEHRER: And you...

What Change Looks Like The passage of health insurance reform legislation represents a historic victory for the American people. America's families and businesses will not only get relief from skyrocketing health care costs but will now have more control over their health care. No longer will the insurance companies get the final say when it comes to rates and rights. Watch the Video & Read the President's Remarks

MOST of what we know about dinosaurs has been pieced together from fossilised bones and teeth. But the unearthing of a mummified dinosaur in the US, with preserved skin and apparent soft tissue, has the potential to unlock biological secrets millions of years old.The remains of the duck-billed hadrosaur are in such good condition - with its skin almost entirely intact - that it has already revealed the creature ran faster and was far more muscular than previously thought. But the remains could offer an even greater insight into the evolution and biology of dinosaurs. [snip]

Mr. TALENT. Mr. President, I rise to speak against the bill. I want to begin by saying that America has a proud history of immigration. When we say that America is a nation of immigrants, we mean that deep in our national consciousness is the image of America as a haven and a place of opportunity for people from all over the world. Our policies have reflected that image. America has always had more open immigration policies than any other country. But those policies have been the result of choices the American people have made. We are a nation of immigrants,...

If you are unable to view the HTML below, please click here.       As president of the National Education Association (NEA), I share the deep frustrations many of you have with the so-called No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). I have heard loud and clear from members across the country about the problems and concerns NCLB is causing, such as narrowing the curriculum, measuring schools by just two test scores, unfairly labeling and punishing schools, and requiring many teachers and para-educators to prove they are "highly qualified" through inappropriate and bureaucratic federal mandates. I want to assure you...

BOSTON Michael Behe is a respected professor of biochemistry noted for his research into the structure of nucleic acid. He is also the author of "Darwin's Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution," a book, published in 1996, that put him squarely on the map in favor of an anti-evolution concept known as intelligent design, causing deep tensions between Behe and his fellow faculty members at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Two months ago Lehigh's Department of Biological Sciences, where the 53-year-old Behe has taught for 20 years, publicly repudiated his views in a notice on its Web site, saying...

link Hysteria — A functional disturbance of the nervous system, characterized by such disorders as anaesthesia, hyperaesthesia, convulsions, etc., and usually attended with emotional disturbances and enfeeblement or perversion of the moral and intellectual faculties. Addressing a conference on the supposedly insufficient numbers of women in tenured positions in university science departments, he suggested that perhaps part of the explanation might be innate — genetically based — gender differences in cognition. He thought he was speaking in a place that encourages uncircumscribed intellectual explorations. He was not. He was on a university campus.

Stem Cells Mined From Human Embryo Clone In Therapeutic Breakthrough, South Korean Researchers Cull Stem Cells From Cloned Human Embryo The Associated Press WASHINGTON Feb. 11 — Researchers in South Korea for the first time have cloned a human embryo and then culled stem cells from it, marking an important step toward one day growing patients' own replacement tissue to treat diseases. December 17, 2003, 6:38 AM EST WASHINGTON -- Women may soon have an easier way to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex now that government advisers have recommended that morning-after birth control should be sold without a doctor's prescription. "It's extraordinarily safe," said Dr. Alastair Wood of Vanderbilt University, an adviser to the Food and Drug Administration. In fact, he said, women probably should keep emergency contraception in their medicine cabinet just in case it's ever needed. "We don't tell people to buy a fire extinguisher after the fire started." The panel on Tuesday voted in favor of over-the-counter sales...
