Used Cars was the one that had the scene where the sales guy placed a large rock under a tire during a test drive and backed over it. He had a trained dog scoot under the car and play dead, making the customers feel guilty enough to buy the car telling them this was the dog’s favorite car (or something like that).

    LOL

“It is a sign that the Christians are realizing what John 17 is really all about, that ALL the believers be ONE.”

My evangelical protestant church has several recently converted Catholic families. Should I go ahead and call it a movement of the Spirit?

“A BTTT story! May there, indeed, be many conversions.”

If “all who follow Christ are children of God” then why would you desire conversions from other Christian sects? There are plenty of nominal Catholics in latin America that need to make their faith real and not merely tradition. Aside from them, plenty of lost people to be ministered to by all Christian churches.

“If theological liberalism is such a “guarantee” of church “success”, why are the usual suspects(the ELCA, the PCUSA, the UCC, the Episcopagans, etc.) struggling to keep their doors open? “

Exactly. Growth trends show that Bible-believing, Christ-centered churches are growing, while the loosey goosey, anything goes churches are dying.

Ryan’s numbers are only high because of recognition (being on 2012 ticket with Romney).

His immigration bill push will sink him in the primaries. Rand Paul is taking the cautious and smart approach to the issue. He’s also balancing his libertarian ideals while buttering up to the GOP establishment. All in all, unless Cruz runs (and I don’t think he does), Rand Paul is my guy.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. He’s a natural health expert as well, so he has to have some liberal sensibilities about him somewhere. Who knows, maybe it’s just an act for a fat paycheck.

This is just a bargaining tactic for Cumulus right now. But if they do indeed drop Limbaugh, I’d think someone like Huckabee would be picked up.

Savage is too off the wall for mass consumption. I used to love his show and his books, but the past few years he’s lost it (and lost me).

His vicious attack on Newt was teamed with him advocating for Romney (for the sake of winning). Then when it came down to the general election, he trashed Romney and said both parties are worthless.

The man can’t be pinned down and can’t be trusted. His recent comments re: Trayvon are a good example.

Everyone’s first instinct when hearing the news is sympathy. Before knowing the facts, even I erred on the side of caution. But we’re talking about a man who knows what he’s saying and has at least some form of show prep.

Lastly, I don’t know anyone personally that currently listens to Savage. This is not necessarily a slight, but I remember 6-7 years ago, a lot more of my friends did.

Travelling as much as I do, I get to hear a lot of talk radio and enjoy many different programs and have done so for 12+ years. Believe me when I say Savage isn’t what he used to be.

“Trips to kiss the ring in Israel are a pretty good sign his priorities are confused. Pass.”

I guess you’d rather have a president that bows.

Perry ain’t perfect, but I got news for you folks... NOBODY in 2016 will be down-the-line “pure” on every issue. Just the nature of politics. Reagan didn’t have a “clean” record but is known for being the most successful conservative president in our nation’s history.

I like Perry both personally and politically. His stance on illegals was hard to defend, but there’s going to be so much $#!+ to deal with that it will take a backseat.

Our economy is still in shambles and fixing to get a whole lot worse the next two years with Obamacare implementation. We need a PROVEN leader with a free market backbone to get our country back on track. Perry has done a great job in Texas not only being a “steward” but fending off attacks from the likes of Wendy Davis and other wackos in Austin.

If he can get his stuff together (health wise - no pain meds!) and get studied up, he might be our best all around candidate. Rand Paul is suspect on moral issues and Marco Rubio is quickly turning into McCain.

But, I’m voting GOP in 2016 unless somehow a guy like Christie gets the nomination. Then I don’t know what the heck I’m going to do.

“I always understood that vehicles that are to be kept in storage long term need to be prepped or the various fluids in them begin to cause damage. I noticed no engine start ups on any of these as well. No road use doesn’t mean the ravages of time go away.”

This is correct. I’d be curious to see what kind of damage has been done internally by sitting there all those years.

I bet the cars stink like heck too. Also, wouldn’t these cars covered in dust need new paint jobs? I’d think a simple wash and wax wouldn’t do the trick.

And if anyone is feeling generous, I’ll take that ‘78 Silver Anniversary Corvette.

    * The preacher is lucky the sleeper didn’t respond by saying, “It’s your job to keep us awake.” *

    ” Right, aimhigh
Even the apostles fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane ... and Jesus did not rant at them “

    ______

    Actually, Jesus kind of did...

40And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,

“So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?41“Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

42He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Your will be done.”43Again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.44And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.45Then He came to the disciples and said to them,

“Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.46“Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!”

I would say Jesus certainly expressed His disappointment. May not have gotten “personal” like the pastor in question did, but certainly gave the disciples correction.

As a pastor myself, I both sympathize with and cringe at what this pastor did. Not to say I’ve had many fall asleep, but kids playing on their cell phones, cell phones ringing, or even one time someone answering the call and walking out of their seat to the hallway to take the call.

People really should hold that time as precious and sacred. They give everything and everyone else all the time in the world the rest of the week, but can’t give a preacher offering the Word of God just 40 mins./more-less of their time once a week.

I have asked politely or made passing jokes whenever a cell phone has ringed, but it can be frustrating though. I really can’t imagine anyone doing this when I was growing up to my home church’s pastor. Today however, clergy are becoming less and less respected.

The pastor was wrong in calling out the groom-to-be, as it just seemed like it was tacked on to a raging rant rather than being mere “Biblical accountability”.

That’s a pretty accurate word for Savage, actually. I can’t pin the guy down seemingly.

I remember during the 2012 primaries him trashing Gingrich, yet saying Romney was our only chance at beating Obama.

Then he’ll go on rants basically saying we compromise our principles too often and how dumb this country is. ::head scratch::
