MEMPHIS, TN -(WMC-TV) – Police say a two-year-old pointed a gun at them while they were checking on a report that the child and its siblings were left alone in a car while their mother got her nails done. It was a bizarre twist of events that left other customers wondering why a mother would leave her kids alone in such a dangerous environment. "It's a crying shame," said Nicole Eubanks, after she heard about the arrest of 23-year-old Erica Rooks. "It doesn't make any sense." Rooks is charged with marijuana possession, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts...

KILLEEN — About 30 Killeen residents quickly gathered Tuesday afternoon to drown out four members of a fringe Kansas church who arrived at Fort Hood to protest the soldiers killed in Thursday’s shootings. The members were from an organization known for picketing at public events and funerals, often those related or peripherally related to gay people or soldiers in the military. On Tuesday, the members stood just outside Fort Hood carrying signs that said things such as “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “God sent the shooter.” Heather Baker, a Killeen resident whose husband is deployed to Iraq, was eating...

Excerpt. Please visit site for photos. Hidden compartments don’t mean much to man’s best friend. This working puppy found enough Emulite to kill hundreds of people. Needless to say, the soldiers and contractors treat these dogs like royalty. There is no exaggeration whatsoever in saying that the working dogs are treated far better than our soldiers. (Not that anyone complains, but it is humorous for everyone to see that the dogs get treated even better than Air Force personnel, who are treated 2x better than soldiers, who are treated 5x better than Marines. That means bomb dogs are treated at...

BATAVIA, Ohio -- The father of a soldier listed as missing-captured in Iraq since 2004 said the military has informed him that his son's remains were found in Iraq. Keith Maupin said an Army general told him Sunday that DNA was used to identify his son. Sgt. Matt Maupin was a 20-year-old private first class when he was captured April 9, 2004, when his fuel convoy, part of the 724th Transportation Company, was ambushed west of Baghdad. A week later, the Arab television network Al-Jazeera aired a videotape showing Maupin sitting on the floor surrounded by five masked men holding...

Military Families Voice of Victory got a very interesting comment from an article about recruiting center attacks yesterday from coast to coast. One of the cities reported about was DC "SDS threw paint bombs, rocks and damaged police cars. Witnesses have reported that MPDC Chief Cathy Lanier has ordered the police to do nothing if the center was attacked." This was from a report phone in which was also reported here at FR. Today a response was made by Communications at MPD. "The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) must enforce local law and the rights afforded to every person under the...

It seems that someone in the antiwar community was a bit reckless spreading the word about a phone conference for United for Peace and Justice. In thier zeal to inform everyone that a conference was taking place they failed to take the phone number and passcode off of the agenda email. Please notice that there is an RSVP but that really shouldn't keep anyone from logging in and keeping their mouth shut or just making up a nmae for a grassroots antiwar group.Have Fun... Hard Ball with Ann Coulter as a guest is live today outside of the MSNBC Washington DC studio. Before the program went live Chris Mathews joked that perhaps they would draw a bigger crowd if we were beheading Ann Coulter. The crowd was silent as was Ann Coulter after his remark so he repeated it! Still crickets from the audience.

Bangor Maine had a large antiwar rally today on the waterfront. By saying large we are talking about around 250 people, it is a small city. The Peace and Justice Center of Bangor had announced they were expecting hundreds if not thousands to attend. It will be interesting to see what numbers they report. AMD and I were both bummed the entire morning just thinking about a protest going on with no plans to counter protest. We couldn't stand the thought of at least not going down to check things out. Maybe just maybe we would run into group of...
