    why do you say that?

other than britain, india, and hindu specifically, might be the most pro-US, US OBSESSED group in the world.

if you haven’t been to india of course, you wouldn’t know this.

    How are Hindus ruining America?

the problem with people who support these Christian “patriots” is you are basically saying that Christians are entitled to certain rights that people of other religions aren’t. That basically defeats the whole purpose of America. Is the attitude of these “patriots” that is ruining the country. I don’t like the idea that because I am not a Christian, the government, police, citizens etc who are Christian can treat me as some inferior little child.

Some of you are ridiculous, calling Hinduism “Satanic” and belittling it as a culture, the same way that the British did when they colonized India. You guys need to grow up, get educated, and realize that most religious and even tribal views held by Native Americans have as high of an understanding of the world and universe as Christianity, just in different ways.

If Christians think that they are more American and more “right” (no pun intended) than people of any other religion, then you are not a true American and if anything, your rhetoric echoes the mentalities of Islamist countries.

Last time Christians tried to “civilize” the Hindus it did not work out so well for the Christians. Maybe it’s because the Hindus were already as civilized, and the Christians were just blind to the world.

The Bobby Jindal example someone brought up is great. Lets say he runs for president.... I bet Christians would support him like crazy. Lets say he never converted from Hinduism and his platform and politics were the EXACT same... suddenly he would be “satanic” and dangerous to the US? that makes no sense, and it does not strike me as Christian.

an elephant God named Ganesha with special powers. and there’s a man God named Jesus who was born to a virgin mother. He was killed, and then was ressurected. He could also perform miracles.

based on these characteristics, neither one’s existence can be believed or proved more than the other. but that’s not the point.... they are part of the same system, and that is a system beyond the limited words of “Christianity” or “Hinduism”

As someone of Indian descent I am disturbed by this. Not surprised considering that he is Muslim (Muslims comprise maybe 12-15% of India’s population).

sad because he is an Indian terrorist, and the overwhelming majority of Indians are very pro US, and this is the first time I’ve heard of an Indian being involved in an Al-Qaida linked attack.

hell, the first doctor to ground zero was an Indian Sikh.

What really pisses me off about the article is that it gives fodder to people to profile Indians as if they are possibly terrorists... which will affect me tomorrow at the Airport, despite my deep love for my country, the US.

and I’ll never understand why these articles don’t mention the fact that he is MUSLIM. Just like last month or the month before when a group of Muslims terrorized a Sikh schoolboy in Queens, the article mentioned that the victim was a Sikh, but NEVER mentioned the attackers’ religion. ridiculous.

How do you feel about the Hindus and Sikhs who fought for Britain in the Allied forces? Didn’t they fight for the free world?

sorry buddy but you are living in the wrong world at the wrong time. by the way your rhetoric sounds similar to that used by a lot of Muslim fundamentalists. in the modern world, it is not a wise idea to say that one’s country = a certain religion.

I wonder what the Hindus who donated big $$$ to the Bush campaign would think about some of the comments here.

I do agree that the idea of “opening prayer” is silly. But it is even sillier to suggest that Christian prayer is somehow more superior to Hindu prayer, or that only Christianity should be expressed in the Senate.

A lot of you are basically implying that to be a true American, one must be Christian.

Are you guys aware that the first Asian-American Senator was a Sikh? Are you aware that there are Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, and even Muslims (GASP!) in the US Armed Forces? If they are doing their job, these people do contribute to American democracy and freedom. Or how abou Hindu doctors who are responsible for making sure that Christian babies are born safely?

some of you are as bad as the leftists. and don’t belittle Hinduism as “pagan” or “devil worshipping.” it is a beautiful and ancient religion, one which has generally coexisted well with Christianity and actually shares some values with it. Hinduism offers a lot of insights into the nature of the universe... we will never know whether Hinduism or Christianity is more “correct”..... there are Christian physicists who actually think that some Hindu beliefs actually offer great insights into the world of science, and there are Hindus who feel the same about Christianity.

those of you who are expressing religious intolerance are being UNAMERICAN and shouldn’t live here if you don’t like the way our founding fathers designed the constitution. Unless you want to “amend” the First Amendment.

I don’t care if you are a white American Christian who fought in wars and defended America IF YOU ARE INTOLERANT OF OTHER RELIGIONS, especially those who have similar values and may be integral to mutually beneficial future friendships.

well, then they can come here, become American, and go from bottom to the top! i still don't get how an element of Hindu society that is rarely practiced in modern parts of India has anything to do with Indians who come to the US? I really don't see it.

also, based on your logic, what do you say about slavery and treatment of African Americans in the US until (and after) the 1960s?

lol Indians don't dominate high schools, spelling bees, colleges.

Spelling bees they without a doubt dominate. Shows how the value of education is instilled in them so young. And these are Indian-Americans we are talking about... thats right, they are America.

If you go to any school or college, it is pretty much guaranteed that if there are people of Indian descent, they will be near the top or at the top academically. The average Indian-American student is smarter than the average white American student. I know you hate it but it's a fact, any teacher or professor will cosign me on this.

I will do my part to dissuade a few but I live in the Europe of America : Massachusetts where all elections are a foregone conclusion.

Haha I feel you. I also am an Indian-American republican in Mass. Where in Mass are you?

Indians fit the republican profile but some are still insecure about their identity or haven't looked at both sides of the issues enough.

Luckily some of the biggest power players in the Republican party are Indian:

My claims that their programming skills are poor is from the hundreds of programs I have reviewed. And I was responding to an assertion that Indians are highly intelligent, etc (that's why we are talking about Indians). I simply have not found that to be the case.

Your experience is only your limited experience. Why is it that there is a general worldwide consensus that Indians are generally very proficient programmers, and very smart in general? Why do they dominate spelling bees, high school classrooms, and colleges when they are enrolled in these situations?

Just curious, how do you feel about Jindal? should we call the KKK to take him down as he took a political position from the white man?

Yes, Americans do have a right to have the first shot at taking these jobs. Because their ancestors died on a battlefield somewhere so that their sons and daughters could have freedom and thus prosper our nation.

Despite being a first generation America, I feel like I might be more American than you are in that I actually know what it means to be American. What you are saying sounds like something out of a modern Nazi or white supremacist party. You do realize that if you are an American citizen, you are an American.

I am born here to Indian parents. I should have to let others whose families have been here longer get the first shot at jobs? That ideology could destroy this country, and it is so far away from this country's foundation that it is ridiculous. Jobs support a country, not just "people whose ancestors have died in wars defending the country"

I think you need to go back and find the definition of what it means to be "American." You are only talking about Americans who have had ancestors that have faught in wars. Come on.
